Follow up today ......
I wrote an email to guest communications saturday and got a call back today! She reiterated that my garden view booking (back in November during the 2 month period showing a description of two queen beds) is just a request and that they won't guarantee it! She also said that even when the renovation is done that not all rooms at pors will have queens. I don't think she is right she mentioned pirate and royal rooms with fulls. There is so much misinformation going on! It's crazy. It's like Seinfeld... They know how to take the reservation they just don't know how to keep it!
She said she would check around the other resorts with queens to see if they can move me. Stay tuned...

How many are in your party???

I called today to to let them know I needed the queens beds due to my family size. No issues. I know it's not guarantee either but at least it's noted. She said it is posed in the comments and I had them tie my 3 reservations together. Here's hoping all goes well!!:thumbsup2

I have a family of 5 and was banking on the Queen beds when I booked my trip in September because that is how they described the room on the website. I have a tall dh and ds, so the Queens are practically a must. I also emailed guest communications on Saturday and received a call this morning. The lady would not budge. She kept giving me the "Queens are a request but not a guarantee". She offered no solution other than moving us (at our own cost!) to another resort with Queen beds or to note on the reservation (again) that we are requesting Queen beds. Argghhhh!!!!

What do they say when you tell them "queens were noted" at the time you booked?

Those of us who are going the last week in March should meet up and take a pic to post lol

hi everyone, need some help/ advice here.. I havent stayed at POR since it was dixie landings, this trip around we are staying there. we have 3 adults, DD 16 and DGD 17 months. I am thinking the rooms are kinda small so i think we are going to add a second room and hopefully get adjoining rooms. well this seems like a pain!! has anyone done this or have any advice ?? oh and we maybe adding another person so i think at that point the extra room would become anohter package??? uuuggghhh... my head is spinning!!!!! lol

What's the problem (apart from the price anyway)? We book two rooms quite regularly and have the bookings linked. You can't guarantee a connecting room (i.e. with a linking doorway) but they will try their best to arrange one for you.

i guess i thought i could just add another room and its all in my package, but the TA said its best to just do a room only which is fine. But also i will give up the handicap acceessible room i have for the adjoining room too unless they have an accessible room that joins. she did say she can just link them later. has that ever been a problem. maybe im just stressing too much over it :confused3

I emailed them on Saturday also but havent heard anything back. I think I directed my email to reservations but Im not sure. I do have the number for the supervisor I spoke with and 4 days before my trip I am going to give her a jingle and makes sure she called POR like she said she would ;)

No reason to change your current booking if you don't want to, just book a new room and have the two reservations linked.

Do remember that "adjoining" means neighbouring or close by, i.e. not necessarily with a doorway leading between the two rooms (to get that, you'd need to ask for "connecting" rooms rather than "adjoining"). About 50% of the rooms at the resort have connecting doors.

oh, i didnt realize there was a difference. yes def need "connecting rooms" with the baby and my daughter. there is also a difference in the handicap room wording too. acessible and fully handicap acessible, i found that out last time. thanks much!!

She just completely glossed over that fact and reiterated that the "Queens are a request and not a guarantee". :confused3

The really tricky thing is that she is technically RIGHT about queens being a request and not a guarantee. The bit that was wrong was the information that was given to you at the time of booking. That was an error.

Now what Disney choose to do about their error in giving out the wrong room amenities list for about six months is another thing. Legally I guess all they would be required to do would be to cancel the booking and give you a full refund of all monies paid, but I would hope that they could do better than that from a guest relations point of view.

If you really want to push it (and personally I wouldn't, I'd just rely on the front desk folks helping you out with the request - but it's up to you) then you could forward them a copy of your confirmation email and ask which other elements of that confirmation should be inferred as being "requests" rather than specifically booked amenities, as they are all grouped together in the same communication.

But at the end of the day, it was an error and it is impossible for them to guarantee that all Garden View rooms will contain Queen Beds... because the plain fact is that, as yet, they don't!

Is anyone going the first or second week of March? On the March thread we have planned a Dismeet and it just happens to be scheduled at POR!!!

March 8th from 9-10 pm
POR River Roost Lounge
Yeeha Bob Show

We would love for any of you who will be there at that time to join us!!!

My friend and I had our ressies linked, we are both booked in standard RR. Do I have to request anything else to get our rooms near each other? I just want them near doesn't have to be right next door just don't wanna be in China while Friend is in France.

I completely understand and do not plan to push issue any further because I am a very non-confrontational person. I do feel sorry for the guests who booked at the same time I did who will show up having no idea (because they don't "dis" or visit your site) that the Queen beds are not guaranteed as our reservations seemed to indicate. At least I have the luxury of knowing this discrepancy now and can be prepared for either scenario. :goodvibes

I think what bothers me the most is the way Disney is handling THEIR error. They booked/sold rooms that do not exist. The people who booked Royal rooms that are not going to exist are getting upgraded to Deluxes. Now, I am not suggesting that they should go that far, but Disney isn't doing anything, but throwing their arms in the air and saying "oh well...if one is available". I don't think that is the right thing to do.

IMO, each and every person who booked a garden view room during the time period that it was marketed and sold as a queen room should be contacted and told of the error. (not everyone is a dis'er)

They should then list the available rooms at other resorts that have queen beds. A discounted rate of 20% (that is a normal, fair amount based on pin codes that I have seen people post) should be applied to the room rate. A reasonable amount of time (say 7 days) should be given for the person to decide.

This way each family can decide what would be best for them. They could take their chances on getting the room or go to another resort where they will be guaranteed the queen beds.
