How many are in your party???

I called today to to let them know I needed the queens beds due to my family size. No issues. I know it's not guarantee either but at least it's noted. She said it is posed in the comments and I had them tie my 3 reservations together. Here's hoping all goes well!!:thumbsup2

We are four this trip: me, my husband, our daughter and her cousin in the one room. I always stay at deluxes because of the full bed situation at mods and values, unless it is only a mother daughter trip, then one full bed for each of us then is fine.
But with the garden room category showing queens, I decided to finally try PORS this trip. In fact it was the pictures of the charming renovations that really pushed me to try the resort.

We stayed at CSR on our last trip, with 4 of us, queen beds and LOVED it!:lovestruc It was my favorite of all the mods. Have you thought about going there since queens are offered or POFQ?

Last time I stayed at POR we were in the Mansions, and I was in charge of a group of about 150 people for my husbands companies annual meeting. Unfortunately, my mind was not on absorbing and enjoying the vacation at all.
I really don't remember much about the resort so I'm looking forward to being here.

The Friday I arrive we have a room only reservation so no parks. We will be hanging at the resort and DTD.

I was first proactive when I realized that they messed up are behind in the renovation, and I went online to see what was available for our dates. Nothing except deluxes at rack rates. I had the AP book early passholder rate. I have been to coronado in 1998. It's nice, but not available.

Us too! Got reservations at Trex in DTD!

ok strange question...but does Disney resorts (or I should say POR ) have babysitting services?

Is anyone going the first or second week of March? On the March thread we have planned a Dismeet and it just happens to be scheduled at POR!!!

March 8th from 9-10 pm
POR River Roost Lounge
Yeeha Bob Show

We would love for any of you who will be there at that time to join us!!!

Im not there until March 10th. :headache:

The Disney resorts have relationships with a couple of in-room childcare providers. (Kid's Nite Out or something like that.) If you call WDW or do a web search, they should be able to put you in touch with someone.

I think what bothers me the most is the way Disney is handling THEIR error. They booked/sold rooms that do not exist. The people who booked Royal rooms that are not going to exist are getting upgraded to Deluxes. Now, I am not suggesting that they should go that far, but Disney isn't doing anything, but throwing their arms in the air and saying "oh well...if one is available". I don't think that is the right thing to do.

IMO, each and every person who booked a garden view room during the time period that it was marketed and sold as a queen room should be contacted and told of the error. (not everyone is a dis'er)

They should then list the available rooms at other resorts that have queen beds. A discounted rate of 20% (that is a normal, fair amount based on pin codes that I have seen people post) should be applied to the room rate. A reasonable amount of time (say 7 days) should be given for the person to decide.

This way each family can decide what would be best for them. They could take their chances on getting the room or go to another resort where they will be guaranteed the queen beds.

See, thats kind of what bothers me. Not one person has said to me that they are sorry for the error. No one has even admitted there was an error. The supervisor I spoke with acted surprised that it said queen beds when I made the reservation. I'm sure she would have to have known. I guess if they had said we are sorry and here is what we are going to do to compensate for your inconvience....even if it was a $25 gift card...I would have felt better than hearing...queen beds are just a request. Its all about how you present it to the customer and right now they arent doing a very good job of that!

I called WDW today, in regards to the 2 queen beds. We booked our reservation when it was stated that the rooms had 2 queen beds and every time Ive called to check on it, even this last week, I was told I was "guaranteed" a queen bed. I even told them that thats not possible, but he insisted it was.

I first talked to someone through the reservation line, she couldnt even find my ressie. She insisted it was a different date but wasnt paid and now is gone. Finally I asked to be sent to a supervisor. At first she wanted me to wait until I found my ressie number and call back, I insisted and she transfered.

The supervisor found my ressie and insisted I was wrong, never did it state that and that it is only a request. She said it is stated as a request on my reservation and they will do what they can. I just kindly told her that if she would do a little research into the issue she would surely find what and when I was talking about. I explained that that queen beds were a major influence on us choosing POR again this time as our children are getting larger and it would be better to have more room and larger beds, but since we were told we WOULD have queens, we decided to book POR again. I was put on hold awhile and then she came on and transfered me to a front desk supervisor at POR.

POR supervisor was very nice and at first didnt want to hear that this was a disney mistake. I told her twice, I understand that they may not of meant to put on there like that or maybe they thought the refurb would be moving along quicker, and now it is changed, but it wasnt when I booked and CMs are so confused they dont even know what is going on. She said she will make a personal note on the ressie which still wont guarantee us Qn rooms, but thats all she could do. I asked what I am to do if I check in and I am not given a Qn room, which is what I booked, she just said sometimes they do switch guests to other resorts that have what they have advertised and are not able to get there, but rarely. I told her I knew of someone that was getting transfered for the same reason, she said it was rare, but they may have been sent to an equal resort. I told her I knew she was upgraded, and Im not looking for an upgrade, but I want a room with Qn beds. She said once in a blue moon they can "walk up" a guest. It is randomnly done and it all depends on numbers.?

Anyways, I feel like I got nowhere in the 45 minute call. I give up. I love POR and hope to get the room type I booked and was told I would have. My only actual request was ground floor and that is because my DD has a stroller as a wheelchair. Ive never had a problem not getting that request.

Reading about all the problems with Queen bed rooms. We are going to POR the last week in March and we have reserved a King Bed. Now does anybody know if this is are quarentee or a request!!

When I was there in January 2010, it was a request.

That is pretty callous on their part. Someone who has a handicapped child should not be given the runaround on this! They should be ashamed!:scared1:
I got nowhere today either. Guest services said they would call me back, and I waited around all day and they did not!

Sending you postive thoughts! Hope they do the right thing.

But isn't this an extra charge? In our package for the end of April it is!

Looking back through my emails, we had requested a water view AND a king bed. They said that only one was a guarantee, the other was a request. We had also asked for a room near my parents. Some extra Disney magic got thrown our way and we got a water (fountain, but still water technically) view with a king bed only 2 doors down from their room.

I don't think that they had as many divisions of room types back then, but I could be mistaken.

Oh, that makes sense! Thanks!

Don't worry, King Bed is (and always has been) a specifically bookable room category; if that is what you have booked and paid for, that is what you should get.

You can then request a water view/etc if you wish (which can be allocated from within the King Bed category rooms) but that request part would not be guaranteed.

Thanks, Andre! :goodvibes
