Pop Questions/Directions

Hi,
We are getting to Orlando around 11 pm at night. Then we will have to go pick up our rental car and drive to POP Century.
Questions:
1. How long will this take at this time of night? Can you give directions? Is it confusing?
2. Is POP pretty good with late check ins?
3. The next morning we have reservations for Chef Mickey's. Any directions and how far in advance do we need to leave?
4. Should we request to stay in a certain section of the resort?
5. Do we have to check out in the morning or is it automatically done? (We have pre-paid.)

I can give you the directions that are the easiest to POP from OIA.

Take the SOUTH exit for the 408/417. It is clearly marked WDW.

Take that to the Osceola Parkway exit 3. At the end of the exit turn RIGHT and follow that onto WDW property.

At the light with WWOS on your left (1st light on property)..turn RIGHT. POP is on your right just a little ways down.

These are toll roads and the toll booth at Osceola Parkway requires exact change. Bring some quarters.

Very good directions. I would just add (since I had to have lots of landmarks and road signs when I get directions!) that you will see a big overhead sign announcing that you are on Disney property when you are on Osceola Parkway. Right after that will be the light. Entrance to Wide World of Sports will be on your left and you will turn right onto Victory Way. The entrance to Pop Century will be the first right after that. There are plenty of signs. Total time once you get your rental car will be about 30-45 minutes.

Bring quarters and one dollar bills for the tolls. It's easier to have the money out and ready.

All Disney resorts are good with late check ins so no problem there.

Directions from Pop Century to Contemporary. Go out the entrance of Pop Century and make a right. Go to where Victory Way ends (not far). At that lights, mkae a left onto Buena Vista Boulevard. You will go by the Hess gas station, the Boardwalk, and Fantasia minaiture golf on your right. The entrance to MGM will be on your left. After Fantasia, get over to the right lane and follow that onto World Drive (follow the signs for Magic Kingdom). You will have to go through the parking entrance for Magic Kingdom to get to the Contemporary. When you reach the booths, go as far over the right as you can. You will be waved through since you have a resort parking pass. Follow the signs to the Contemporary. I'd give yourself about an hour before your seating time. It's better to be early than late.

You can request a certain building if you want. Make that request now and it will be noted on your reservation. Remember that nothing is guaranteed but Disney does a good job of trying to get what you want.

Ask for express check out and your bill will be hanging on your room doorknob the morning of your check out day. You can then leave.

We have arrived at POP late at night and we had no problems checking in.. Very fast and friendly..

4. Should we request to stay in a certain section of the resort?

We stayed in the Lady and the Tramp section the trip before last and really liked this one the best.. I believe its the 50's section.. it was closeby 2 of the pools and also closeby the food court..

We've been to POP 3 times and loved it every time.. This is one of my favorite Disney resorts
