HAPPY MOTHER's DAY TO ALL!!!!!

PS...please stop wishing for August...(just until AFTER my WDW trip in 12 day10 days??)

THANKS!! :rotfl2:

I'm so excited -- just found out that one of my good friends, who moved halfway across the country a couple of years ago, is going to come on my trip with me! I haven't seen her in two years. We had talked briefly about it a couple of weeks ago, but today she said she would go! I called WDW this morning when she said it was possible, and asked about adding her to the ressie -- no problem! She just has to buy the same ticket I have (which is only a 1 day PH, since the original plan was to upgrade to an AP when I got there, but not sure what I'm doing now). And she likes/dislikes the same type of rides I do! So this should be great. Now I'm even happier that I decided to keep my trip despite the obstacles.

:thumbsup2 I SECOND that!!!

Unfortunately, yes, :sad2: I can't imagine Disney will bring them back ... there was always so many issues with the POP Jets working properly even before Disney closed it down. And Disney has turned this area into a scene resembling a beach. Goofy & the car received some TLC in the form of a face lift for Goofy (cleanup up and painted) and the car was been detailed (aka repainted!) Rubber matting covers the jets and is painted to correspond with the beach look. Believe this area is intended for scenic purposes and of course photo opps. :)

They removed Goofy on Tuesday. I don't know if he was just moved to another location, or what, but he was not by the car when we left yesterday.

I've read MOST of the info on this thread... because we leave for POP in August for a week and we havn't been to WDW in 5 years!! I think that I have a good idea of what to expect at POP... and I'm very excited to see it in person!!

Arriving June 7 with a preferred room......thinking of requesting the Lady building.....any ideas which areas of it may be quieter (if that is possible :rotfl2:)

Last year we were placed in the Lady building on the back side really close to classic hall side entrance. It was very close it was facing some trees and seemed to Very very quite. We asked to be moved because we prefer being facing the lake but when we booked the only had a preferred room only before our FD started.

Does anyone know if it makes a difference how far out you do online checkin, in regards to room requests. For example, would I be more likely to get my request if I did online checkin 9 days out vs. 1 day out? Or do you think it matters? I know the resort is compact, but I have been scarred for life by CBR and I want to be as close to the food court as possible. :yay:

Can anyone tell me how much time we will need to get to MK for an 8:10am Crystal Palace ressie? MK opens at 9:00am so that means the POP busses will run at 8:00? Are we looking at having to drive or will the bus get us there in time?

Tosha- I think they do the room assignments 3 days before you check in. I would do it earlier rather than later. I, too, was scarred by CBR. We stayed there a few years ago at Christmas time and it was too spread out for me. We drove to the food court b/c it was too cold to walk ( record low temps.). We wished we had stayed at POP instead. It feels more like a resort to us.

Hello, everyone! :goodvibes We have stayed at POP many times and are excited to be there again this September after a year away (we stayed at Bonnet Creek last year and BWI- which were great but POP is like "going home")! The last time we were at POP, DS was in a pack n play but he no longer really fits in one, yet he does still sleep at home in his full size crib. Does anyone know if they have bed rails available at POP? I'd really like to have one on each side of the bed because he likes to sleep on the edge for some reason. If they don't we can always try to purchase an inflatable toddler bed but I'd like to just use the bed in the room so we don't have to pack yet another thing. Thanks for any help you can give.

Happy planning! :thumbsup2

Good to know. Thanks!
I feel the same way regarding the resort feel. We have only stayed at Movies and CBR. Couldn't stand CBR but loved every last thing about Movies except sharing buses, so we decided to try Pop. :cool1:

pixiedust: So happy that things are working out well for you Erin. Best of luck to your husband in his job search.

we just returned late this afternoon from a week at the Pop...we had a great time as always...We were in bld 4 fourth floor front of the pool...the noise level was not bad...of course people are in the pool at all hours..the rooms were clean ( we had two rooms)..our son and his wife and two munchkins and my husband and myself and our daughter (whose husband is disney challenged.)...Our breakfast was usually at Pop except when we went to Akershus for the princess breakfast..
We had a fridge that was cold enough to keep ice cubes in our refillable mugs for 18 hours at least...I was surprised...Also our son, daughter in law and our daughter used the wifi and they had no issues..
The new set up with the curtain separating the sink area from the bedroom was a great addition ..

Busses were on time and very frequent so we were not left standing for long periods of time...

Teens and groups were amazingly polite and gave up seats to "older' people and were not disrespectful or swearing...very impressed with the younger crowd

Pop food court...well breakfast time had great choices but the rest of the meals were hit or miss...Not enough choices for any of us...that would be my only complaint...One more item of complaints...when you walk into the area from the pool to the food court or lobby...the smokers in that area should be moved to another area...a few times we thought we were the ones that were smoking ...

We are quite tired so if anyone has any questions ...bombs away and I will be awake tomorrow..
OH YAH the love bugs made another hatching ...they were everywhere..

now it is getting closer did my esta this mornign and im approved to fly to the us

First, I just want to say BRAVO to the thread keeper, JanetB, for a FABULOUS page 1 :worship: We have not stayed at Pop since 2008 so this info was much appreciated to refresh my memory on buildings, room pics etc. How exciting about the mini fridges now!!

We are planning on POPing (;)) down in early August and I was wondering about pool activities. Do they normally have some in the afternoons, and which pool would they be at- Hippy Dippy?

Also, is it the general consensus that AoA will have its own buses and not share with Pop?

Thanks! :goodvibes

Thanks Cinderumbrella for your kind words ...happy that you found the info helpful.:) It is definitely a work in process and will continue to be fine tuned and updated. POPers are very knowledgebable and their input helps to keep this thread current.:thumbsup2

I see Kelly responded to your question about the AoA and busing issue. So far that I"m been told, POP will not be sharing busing with AoA, but time will tell ...

and FYI, pool activities will be listed in your activities flyer that you should receive upon check in ... if you aren't given one please ask!

HAPPY MOTHER's DAY TO ALL!!!!!

:rotfl2: Okay, will keep my mouth zipped about our August trip until after your trip!! And Happy Mom's Day to you too!

Thanks for the update on Goofy :)... hmmm wondering what Disney is planning to do? Guess time will tell ..:goodvibes

16 days to go! So excited.

Allow a full hour from the bus stop ... buses start at 6:30 am so you should be good on taking busing. :)

Pumba,

Welcome back!! :hippie: Glad you had a great time! Always love the disney challenged remark! My husband might fall into that category too!

Good to hear about the fridges being cold enough and that you didn't have issues with WiFi access. :thumbsup2

Have agree with you on the DSA near Classic Hall ... something should be done with fairness to both smokers and non-smokers alike. And you know, it would be nice to see some additions to the POP menu, just as a shake me up (and especially since reading about AoA's food court choices).

Were you happy with Akerhous House?? We booked the dinner and at one time we were considering the breakfast as an alternative. Your thoughts on the Princess interaction? We are bringing my grand niece (7) and my DD (14) (but still will do the photo opps/autograph book).

Sorry your trip is over, have you booked another?? (BTW, was there a bounceback?)

Janet
