Sadly my girls were taken down by the stomach flu. While getting them off the DTD bus I turned around from pulling the stroller off to a chorus of "awwwwww"s and found our 15 month old painting the loading steps with her last meal. :( We took a whole bus out of commission. Thank goodness we didn't have real plans for the next 24 hours!

Awww, I'm sorry that they are sick :(

Leaving for Pop tomorrow morning!!!! 7:00 AM flight out of PHL :goodvibes:goodvibes
Have a blast!

A "make-your-own-smoothie bar"?! Oh... my family would just love this! :lovestruc We my have to plan a walk over as well... Less than 57 days to go!
I'm thinking of running over one morning and getting a smoothie....they look yummy.

The car is packed and we're ready to go! In a few hours we will be hitting the road for the long drive to Disney!!! :drive: Can't wait to get back to POP!!!! Thanks to everyone on here for all the great advice and ideas!
Hope your drive is uneventful and you have a great trip!

60's isn't currently limited to preferred rooms. It has standard, preferred, and preferred pool. :goodvibes
I didn't know you could request a section when you did online check in.....good to know. Is this new or has it always been there?

Anyone have the address or e-mail to send a letter about my expereince at pop. Thanks

If you want it to go directly to Pop Century send it to
1050 Century Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830

BTW, that address is in post #1 of this thread.

Doors to Classic Hall are across from The Hippy Hoppy Pool !! There is a set close to the 70's section so that would be your closest. There is another set closer to the Lobby entrance on that same side and of course you can go thru the gift shop too!!

You're right, there are no doors on the side of Classic Hall. The doors are in the back facing the pool or in the front by the buses.

When I stayed in building 8 previously, I walked around the back of Classic Hall to get to the food court.

The 5 minute walking estimate is fairly accurate -- it does not take that long.

thanks so much for the clarification!!! :thumbsup2

I just wanted to add that they keep extra towels in cupboards right at the front desk - guest services. We saw people request them a few different times when we were there in August, and the CMs literally turned around and pulled them out of the cupboard.

On our first day, we left a note for housekeeping to please leave extra towels for us. She put several on the shelf above the closet and kept us well stocked for our entire stay.

The towels are just bath sized towels and are not cushy quality, but they serve their function well. I sure wouldn't pack a towel in my luggage.

Thank you both for the great advice, now i will have far more room in my suitcase to bring things home with me.

Online check-in will let you request the 60's section (but not specific buildings), so if you're happy with either 4 or 5 from the 60's possibly being assigned, you can wait until online.

If you want to request one of those specific buildings now, you should call and request the specific building.

Great thanks! I'll wait and do it online.

Anyone have the address or e-mail to send a letter about my expereince at pop. Thanks

Did you have a bad experience?

I just got back home to Atlanta this evening after a week at Pop. It was ok, but I didn't get the "Disney magic" feeling that I have always felt at the All-Stars. Nothing major, it was just didn't feel the same. Maybe I will elaborate later when I have a real keyboard and not this lousy iPad, lol.

Thank you for the thoughts and sympathies! Went to town with a bottle of Clorox Anywhere and everyone has perked up now :) We've burned through a whole bottle of hand sanitizer as well - no one can tie any shared germs to us!

I've been hearing tons of coughing on the buses and lines. Anyone coming soon boost up your vitamin c before arriving!

Here now and our trip has been magical so far! Although it has been pretty crowded in certain areas at certain times here at POP, but I can't complain at all:) Got my requests at check in! Haven't had any issues whatsoever. Weather's been great! And we have pretty much walked on to rides and shows:) waiting for a couple but no longer than 10 minutes! Even rode everest twice back to back! Hope this helps anyone coming down soon!

Thanks for the update, we will be there in 4 days!!!

DS20 and I have everything done that can be done, and the trip is still almost four weeks away. We've got our one ADR, our Photopass share, found out that American doesn't allow you to try to do standby anymore, MNSSHP dreams dashed, park schedule planned, employers notified. He's having a moment of anxiety right now -- his new band just got a spot playing at a big location in Chicago (Abbey Pub, and breaking news, Goose Island has offered them a spot) two days after we get home, so practice time is limited, but he'll figure it out. Anybody got a time compressor machine so we don't have to wait so long?

Erin ...happy that this trip is coming together for you ... just wondering, why no Halloween party?

Hopefully your DS and the band can get as much as practice in as possible to be ready to go! Sounds like a great opportunity for them. :goodvibes

We've eaten there a few times. Loved the Surf and Surf burger! We haven't tried the smoothie bar yet. Maybe this time!

This is how it looked the last week of August when we were in Orlando for Star Wars Celebration VI

Can't wait to see the fences down!

lovethatink ... thanks so much for sharing your pix!! We didn't wander that way last month (and most of our AoA visits were in the evening.) We missed out on eating there but will definitely do so on our next visit. The fruit smoothies sound so good!! (and it's good for a dessert on the DP). :cool1:

:dance3: safe travels (and you may be in Disney by now!) Have a great time!! :cool1:

Thanks for the link! :thumbsup2

We wandered through all of AoA Yesterday and the little mermaid section is fun but the Cars area is SERIOUSLY cool. The landscaping in every area changes and it was like being in Radiator Springs!

My DD too likes the Cars section the best from the pix and seeing it in August.

On a other note, happy to read your girls are doing better!

:dance3: Have a wonderful time!!

Nice!! and riding EE back to back - great!! Enjoy!!

We were fortunate in August to be given 4 FP by someone who couldn't use them .. so even though we just got off the ride (and were getting FP for later in the day)... the FP were good then so we got to ride it again, back to back!! :cool1:

Sorry that you didn't get the same magic staying at POP than at the All Stars. Sometimes it does come down to having a favorite and other resorts just not matching up to it. POP is full of energy, great fun/theming and can be over the top at times (and not for everyone), and that can really apply to each Disney resort. That's why Disney offers so different levels/themes. Look forward to your thoughts on your POP stay and do hope that your next visit is more to your liking. :goodvibes

Going Thanksgiving with POFQ reservations and thinking about adding days and changing to Pop. Is it allowed to swim at AOA and is there a good standard view?

Officially, no.

The times we have walked around AoA the pool gates have been closed. A AoA room key opens the gate, so a Pop key would not. There are signs at the pool saying the pools are for the exclusive use of AoA guests.

JanetB -- no Halloween party because that week, they're only M and Th, and we get in (to MCO) at 6:45 Monday evening, and we'll be back in the air Thursday evening. We had been hoping to get a stand-by seat on an earlier flight on Monday, which we've done before, but American's current policy is that you can call 12 hours ahead of the flight you want, and if there's room available, you can change to that flight for $75. While that's better than paying a $150 change fee and the difference in cost of the two flights, we're still not willing to pay the $75 each -- and then the cost of the party -- to get there earlier (and our flight was VERY cheap to begin with, which is the theme of this trip -- CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP). If I get an unplanned bonus of some sort, I may try to do it still.

And if anyone would like to hear my son's wonderful band -- www.lasttrainout.bandcamp.com.

We leave in 28 days! Received our Mickey Mail yesterday! It's our first stay at POP! We are excited!

I requested a preferred view to be closer to buses and classic hall, but it doesn't seem to be worth it after studying the maps better. My dad will be in an ECV, so we will coming off the elevator in the middle of the building, so no straight shots to either I see now. Is there one building where the walkways actually get one to classic hall quicker?

Can I use a Personal check at Disney? I understand I can cas a check at guest services for up to $200.00, but just wondering if I can pay for goods at say DTD with a check?
