You can also see them from the road when you are on the Disney Buses, but you have to look carefully between the bushes.

This is one of those things where you wonder what Walt would have done? I seriously doubt he would let that mess just sit there like that. In fact, I'm really shocked that the current powers-that-be are allowing it.

If anything, they should just knock it all down and leave it as vacant land. Anything looks better than a building with weeds growing in the doorways. It's just sad to me that Disney, who has always prided itself on the neatness of it's properties, is, in a sense, harboring an abandoned tenement.

I just sent Disney an e-mail about the condition of the Legendary Years. I do hope they read it and respond. I'd like to know what, if anything, they are planning to do with it. Let's hope it's SOMETHING, and it's SOMETHING QUICK.

the two tiems we stayed at pop i never noticed legendary side of pOP except when I went way over to generation gap bridge to take pics and like someone else said you need a strong lens

It really is too bad.......the bridge was pretty dirty the one time I walked over to take a look at it. It could be such a nice area as the lake really is pretty. I took these on Dec 13.

Standing at the start of Generation Gap bridge - you can see what would be the main hall in the background.

It was so still and quiet down by the bridge - sad really.

One last one.................maybe someday........... :sad2:

I think it's kinda neat to see the buildings in this state.

Like someone said, Disney is usually so ontop of it, that most don't have the opportunity to see anything like this!!!

In a couple years we'll be talking about "Remember when the Legendary Years were unfinished?" "Remember when you could still see River Country?" ;)

Great thread. Just wanted to subscribe. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

So its over the bridge? I want to look next time I go there.

Gosh If I was a ghost i'd live in Legendary Years. haha. ;X

Reminds me of the now defunct Olympic Park in Maplewood, New Jersey. Depressing to say the very least. The photos someone posted on line looked very similar to this video. Of course, we can still probably feel good about something being done with these resorts eventually, unlike Olympic Park, which was finally torn down, and apartments put up in it's place.....

That is really sad! I cannot imagine why so much has already been sunk into the project just to sit there!

This video needs to be forwarded on to disney...

;) Trust me, they know. They are in a legal situation over PC-LY, which is why it sits. Sad as it may be, it will sit there until their legal battle with the contractors is over and they can come to an agreement.

I'm not aware of any on-going legal issues with the previous contractors..

Where are you finding that information?

Does anyone know how they got this video? Did they just walk over there and hope not to get caught? Does the bridge connect with no wall or something?

If you walk out across Generation Gap bridge you will come to a barrier. There are trees/shrubs and a fence of sorts. There is a hole on the left hand side where you can tell by the path leading to the Legendary Years buildings has been used by people to walk over.

I did not go over there and I am sure WDW Security would not be too happy with people that do. :)

For the record - all the pictures I took at the beginning of this thread -- were taken from behind the fences and barriers. I didn't cross over to the forbidden areas... but you could easily see where others had done so.

DH and I stayed at POP in October. Overall, we had a great time-loved the food court, the CM, the theming. But I really hated top see the unfinished buildings across the lake from our room. :guilty: It really wasn't a great sight and I am very disappointed that in all places, WDW, something like this actually exists. In the future when DH and I return to WDW and we decide to stay at a Value, I think we may go back to the All-Star Music. I don't think I'll be going back to POP because of the unfinished buildings! I think it looks plain "trashy". Just my 2 cents.

Wow, I'm disgusted. I just booked Pop for a couple nights in January, but had I looked at these photos first, I may have went elsewhere. :sad2:

Is that mess visible from the rooms that are currently open?:confused3

Has anyone ever contacted Disney for comments on the sad state of the Legendary Years? Just wondering what their response was.

I did conact Disney to let them know how disappointed I was with the state of The Legandary Years. All I got back from them was a form letter. Nothing too exciting. Sad. :sad1: :sad1: :sad1:
I, too, booked POP without really knowing about the abandoned bulidings. And when we walked out of our room, that is what we saw across the lake! It was really horrible and very un-Disney. Now I look back on it & wish I had booked All Star Music instead. Don't get me wrong, it takes more than a few abandoned buildings to ruin my Disney World vacation but it took away some of the Magic for us. Overall, we did have a great time otherwise.

I'm wondering if there is a lot of mold and water damage and if it would have to be torn down anyway even if they plan on rebuilding it sometime soon. :confused3

I was wondering the same thing! I don't think I'd want to stay in those rooms even if they did finish them based on those pics.
