Please tell me about Bluezoo

Hi,
Considering BlueZoo for my husband's birthday before an Illuminations Cruise. Can anyone tell me about your experience there (service and food choices)? Also, will someone help me out with getting there from Epcot and then getting to the Cruise from Bluezoo?

I had originally thought of Chefs De France, but now I'm not sure. Don't really want to do Bistro because we will have our 6 year old son with us. Maybe Bluezoo isn't an appropriate place for kids either?? He is very well-behaved.. but still a kid.

We will be touring Epcot during the day. I would appreicate your thoughts and/or suggestions!

I was expecting a more flashy kind of place- it was kind of plain- and not nearly as fancy as I thought it would be. I had seen photos online and had a vision in my head- I was wrong.
We went early- 6. with our 4 kids. No problems. There were plenty of kids and honestly the table of women next to us was louder than any of the children in there. My kids all loved the pizza.

I really liked the food. DH not so much (I think he ordered wrong) I went with the fish of the day- with the crab/butter sauce- That stuff was yummy.
Oh and wanted to add that I got the restaurant.com giftcertificate($25 for only $3) and had no trouble using it. Also this restaurant was about $100 cheaper than the other signature dining we had. So all those are a big PLUS to me.

Bistro is fancier and I wouldn't bring kids to that one.

You can catch a boat from Epcot to the Dolphin. (or you can walk)

We really enjoy Tokyo Dining(sushi and tempura) just wanted to add another choice for you.

BlueZoo has been a Must-Do for us every trip since it opened. Sometimes more than once a trip.

Anyways, it's a wonderful restaurant. I have only had one dish I didn't care for (The Shake & Bake Fries) But I'm just not a fry person anyways. Service has always been wonderful. I have seen children in there, but not many. They are certainly welcome tho, like any place in WDW except V&A & maybe Bistro.

It's easy to get to from Epcot. Just exit at International Gateway in World Showcase & head towards the Dolphin.You'll know the Dolphin by the big Fish on top. It's also my avatar so you can see what it looks like. You can go either by Yacht & Beach Club or by Boardwalk, either way you'll get to the Dolphin. It's on the right as soon as you walk in the doors from the Epcot side.
When you leave to go to your Illuminations Cruise, you'll go right back out those doors & head towards Epcot, forking to the left towards Y&B Clubs instead of Boardwalk. You'll walk right to the Marina. There's a big Lighthouse there to show the way.

I agree it is one of the best restaurants at WDW.

However, nobody is 'walking' from the IG to BlueZoo in 5-6 minutes. The walk, last time I put the watch to it, was closer to 11-12 minutes. If the OP is coming from Epcot, I would say to leave a solid 15 minutes to make that walk.

Well behaved children should be fine.
From BlueZoo back to the marina check-in for the cruise will be about a 5 minute walk.

My 21 y/o daughter just went this passed weekend. She said it is very simple, if you like fish go, if you don't don't go. She said there is very little on the menu that isn't fish. She had a chicken dish and said it was just ok.

I have looked at the menu and it all sounds absolutely wonderful to me. I love seafood, and it's one of the things that I don't easily get to order here in Ohio. I mean, we have Red Lobster... but... it's hard to convince me that THAT is seafood! My husband loves shellfish, so there are also several things for him.

I, too, saw the $25 gc's on Restaurants.com. I'm glad to hear that they work. Every little bit helps!

Since you've already decided--no need for me to add that we go to Blue Zoo each trip.
And the scallop/braised shortrib appetizer is EXCELLENT!!

That sounds divine! I love shortribs, and not only do you NOT see them on very many menus, but when you do, you can never be sure of the quality. Scallops are my all time favorite... again not on a whole lot of menus here in Ohio.

OK, it's not even 8am and I'm craving that appetizer!

Mmm... we went to Bluezoo on our last trip in '06. The food is excellent & it's nice to get away from the Disney craziness for a bit. We both ordered a entree where you choose your fish & then choose your sauce. Very good. They also have a great bread basket w/ some extra yummy butter. Enjoy!

I agree with this. I am a very fast walker and there is no way I can do IG to bluezoo in 5 - 6 minutes.

Oh, and it is a fantastic restaurant! I am going again on 10/9 and can't wait!

Outside of V&A, it's our favorite restaurant at WDW. We've been lucky and have always had very quiet dinners here. Service is excellent and the fish is divine. I'm with UncleR on that rib/scallop appetizer.
