Photographing Pets

mylittleprincess, I hope you don't mind. I did a really quick edit for you. I ran it through Noiseware (which still left some noise visible) and cropped out some of the window. I had to lol to see you're using an S3 IS. I knew it looked familiar (I use one, too - these days as backup to my dSLR). You have to watch that back ISO button, you can hit it by accident. Also, if you're shooting high ISO in your last session, you have to remember to change it on your next one.

Anyway, I really like the picture! :lovestruc

Thanks!! :thumbsup2 I am clueless with this camera and the ISO.:confused3 Like we really can't figure our super clear close up shots. Does this camera not have that capability? What is the dSLR?

Hey, am glad you came back! Was almost going to PM you...

No, the camera is very capable of doing great work. But it can be more complicated than a point and shoot camera so it helps if you do a little studying on both basic photography principles as well as how to best use that camera specifically.

There is a long running thread here that I'll link for you. You should try to spend some time reading it. Many of your questions will be answered and you'll learn lots of new stuff, too.

The ISO button is on the back. Ideally you'd like to keep it as low as possible in order to avoid that grain, or noise. Sometimes you might have to increase it in order to get the shot if your light is low, but ideally you'll use other means if possible. There's a book called Understanding Exposure that is a fun read and explains the Exposure Triangle that is the basis for understanding all this stuff.

A dSLR is a digital single reflex camera. It's the type of camera that uses interchangeable lenses and all. You don't have to be a photography expert to use one, but it helps to have some basic understanding of both photography and how cameras and related software work. Hang around the PB more and you'll get more ideas.

Glad you liked the picture edit. It's a nice shot! :thumbsup2

Here is the S3 IS thread. I bumped it for you. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1235546&referrerid=70088

That's a beautiful shot, Ann. His ears look so soft. :goodvibes

He reminds me of combination of two friends of mine (both GR boys). What awesome dogs they are.

About ten days old actually. We are adding a Bichon puppy to our family as soon as they are old enough to take home at about eight weeks. We took the girls up to see them for the first time today.

My wife was kind of the last hold out trying to decide if the 'time was right' for a puppy. I think this shot says it all- game over.

This one opened her eyes for the first time right in front of us today.

The mommy dog was the sweetest little thing- the girls just loved her.

Oh my word - I'm not even a dog person and now I want to sit up all night helping them go potty. Beautiful images!
