Pay Yourself Back with Disney Visa vs. using a Rewards Card

Duh!!! Obviously the rewards are to pay for stuff, does anyone NOT understand that concept?

BUT if you put the rewards on the rewards giftcard and use that you do not earn the rewards, hence the double dip if use PYB.

It's the same thing. There is no double dip. You DO NOT EARN rewards when you pay yourself back. You USE your rewards, the ones you have already earned, and you don't earn additional rewards by using your earned rewards. It's a rewards REDEMPTION card not a rewards giftcard. Using PYB is a REDEMPTION of rewards you have previously earned.

You are missing the point. From what has been shared on this thread you do earn the points on the PURCHASE that you used your rewards to PYB but the same is not true when you use a rewards giftcard.

There is no such thing in this case as a rewards gift card.

It's a redemption card and no points are actually earned when you use it.

Only the actual credit cards are set up to earn points. Many points on this thread have been incorrect as is your comprehension of how the rewards actually work. Give it some more thought and read through your own responses. Eventually you will see the errors in your thought process.

Using $100 in Disney Rewards as an example, if you redeem $100 in Disney Rewards for a redemption card, you spend that $100 directly. Any purchases you make with the card earn no new rewards, because gift cards do not earn rewards.

If instead you charge $100 of Disney purchases to your Disney Visa card, you do earn rewards on that $100. After the charge posts, you can then use your existing $100 in rewards with the “Pay Yourself Back” feature to erase the charge.

In both cases, your $100 in rewards covers the purchase. The difference is that using Pay Yourself Back lets you earn rewards on the purchase first, while using a redemption card does not. Using the redemption card is an opportunity lost to earn additional rewards.

And how long does it take for a PYB request to be completed?
