I'm sure this is probably the obvious choice on what to do, but since I'm first it's ok!! :lmao:

converted to bw using lightroom grayscale prest. cropped, erased stuff i didn't want in photoshop e5. tweaked tones in alien skin exposure, made background and added alienskin texture( i think forget which one it's in, think it's in textures) backlight.duplicated masks, and arranged on layers, flattened then made frame

Here's my play! Boosted in curves a bit, converted to a warm toned b/w, added some sharpening, did a little burning....and ended up with this.

Here is my entry... I did a B&W conversion emphasizing tonal range and detail, selectively converting colors to maximize contrast without adding posterization. I played with the curves to emphasize the sparkles and did some sharpening. Then I masked the central mask, jumped it to a new layer and did some lens blurring and vignetting of the background to make the main one pop. Did some minor retouch to get rid of some specs and a hair, and smoothed the chin and eyebrow of the main mask. All in PSCS3.

I liked the Gold in the picture so I chose to keep that element.
Converted to B/W and then pulled back in the Gold highlights. Added some tiling and a frame.

Added a cloud layer with a feathered oval cutout.
Changed to B&W, boosted red and yellow.
Added a spotlight.
Added a faded oval embossed frame.

Ok, so I will admit it, I suck at photoshop. There, I said it. That is step one. Could more people explain how they did their conversions on these pics? That would help me quite a bit. I have a book to explain to me what these things you all talk about are, but I would have no idea when to use these things without an explaination of how you all did your photos.

Of course, I realize that I only have photoshop elements, so some of these things probably aren't even possible for me.

Thanks!

andy i didn't see any thing here you couldn't do with elements and maybe a couple free plug ins..the problem of course is reading the books and using the manuals, not all that fun:rotfl: for some dumb reason i just bought painter x which is like the steriod version of some of the filters and artistic effects in elements but hehehe it'll be a while till i figure that one out, oh well winter is coming so i'll have plenty of time inside:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah, I figured that they aren't all that advanced techniques. I think that if people were to say what they did (some of them did say) then I could look it up and try things on my own. Then again, I rprobably wouldn't do it all that well anyways! :lmao:

Andy,

I used gimp for my mods. Its a free download and pretty powerful, but it takes some getting used to. The documentation leave some to be desired, but I figure out what I want to do then spend the rest of the time figuring out how to do what I want to do.:rotfl:
