OT: Where do you hang your stockings - no fireplace?

In an old home, we used to hang them on the railing of our stair case.

Now, we have fireplaces- but no mantles!
So we hang them on a step-tansu.

As a kid, my hung on the staircase. In our home now, we have a half wall as you come in through our front door (I think you'd call that area a mud room.) and we hang them there with push pins.

We just take down our pictures that hang on the wall and hang the stockings on the picture hook :)

Before we got a house with a fireplace, we hung them on the kitchen chairs. We put Santa's cookies and milk on the kitchen table too.

We hang them on the wall and we use the removable "hooks" by Scotch. They work great and leave no mark or damage of any kind on the wall. After "Santa" fills the stockings he leaves them under the tree right in the front so the kids see them immediately.

Ours our hung on our fish tank using suction cups! It's the only place to put them in our house!

Used to live in a small duplex w/ no fp. One year we just put the stockings under the tree on Christmas Eve. After that I got a couple of those 3M adhesive hooks, and we hung them on the back of our door. After Santa filled them they were moved to under the tree.

We have an archway that leads from our living room into our office area. We hang the stockings around the archway, sort of like a mantle.

I just saw a really cute iron stocking hilder at kirklands...it looks like a fireplace screen. If we didnt have a fireplace thats what I would buy. When we built our house the ONLY thing I told my dh I wanted for sure was a wood burning fireplace.

We hang ours on the banister. Our steps are in our foyer so they look nice hanging there. I just use curling ribbon so they are easy to cut down Christmas morning.

We did that as a kid too (no fireplace). I do have a beatiful fireplace with mantle now, but I prefer the stockings on the stairs.

I picked up some stocking holders at Target a few years ago so that we could hang ours on the kitchen bar.

Ours have always been at the end of our beds, that way when you first wake up they have a stocking to go through before getting to the tree.

The banister of our staircase. I'm looking at them right now. It was how we did it when I was growing up so when we bought our home and it didn't have a mantel I just reverted to my growing up years and how my parents did it.

T.

Oh, btw, there are 5 stockings on our staircase - hubby, mine, DD1, DD2 and our Pitbull Cup-cup's.

We sometimes do the 3M Command hooks and we have a large picture frame that has 3 hooks for our keys by the front door-some years we do that. We have 5 stockings tho, so usually the kids stockings (much heavier than me, DH and the cats!) hang from the frame/key holder thing. Hope that helps!!!

We put them on the doorknobs of their bedroom doors...when they were little it bought us a little time to sleep...now it's just tradition.

We always hung them on our doorknobs as kids and now my DD5 hangs hers on her doorknob before she goes to bed :thumbsup2 Only 3 more sleeps till:santa:

He have stocking holders that are the letters NOEL. We used to use that to hang them from the entertainment center, but they kept getting in the way of the stereo. This year my husband put the stocking holders on the edge of our island in the kitchen and it has worked much better.
