OLD THREAD: 2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ, Part 2- May, June and July DON'T POST HERE!

With regard to entering Epcot before normal hours for tours, here's a thread in which several people report doing so (starting on the second page as I recall).
http://www.disboards.com/showthread...=enter+international+gateway+for+tours&page=3

We've entered early for breakfast although not for a couple years and I do remember people giving their names for tours at that time.

Perhaps check with the CMs at the IG gateway if you will be going to Epcot on an earlier day.

Can't wait to hear about the meet.

Teena, I am so sorry to hear about your friend and coworker Vic. It's great that you have wonderful memories of him. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone who will feel this loss.

I have a problem .We will be at BC July 28 -Aug 3. This is a first family gathering at WDW and I am so excited. It is in conjunction with a business convention for one of the SILs. It will be my husband and I , our two daughters and their husbands, five grandchildren under 10, and Dan's mom. My sister lives in FL and has never met some of the grandkids and will be coming down to see us Sat. Night. Since we are leaving for Disney on a VERY early flight I know the little ones will probably be tired by evening ...so I thought it might be fun to have ice cream together and then the kids / parents can retire to the rooms as they drop. Is there some place we can visit at the hotel after ice cream? There could be 20+ of us for a bit. I have just read about the solarium ...is that a possibility? I was told somewhere that they can come on the property but of course not to use SAB. Ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Hi friends! :wave2: Now that my Beach Club Villas reservation is complete for October, are there any room requests anyone would suggest I make? Thanks for any and all of your ideas! :goodvibes

NO PROBLEMS!!!! This sounds really exciting, getting everyone together like this. Want to adopt?

After doing the carryouts from Beaches and Cream, go over to the solarium. I don't think I have ever been there when it's been crowded. Another thought might be to set up by a quiet pool so the little ones can do some swimming and burn off any of the excitement energy they always seem to have that first day at WDW. As far as hanging out after the kids have gone to bed, the lobby of the YC may be a little quieter than the BC lobby but later at night there really isn't any big difference between the two. The set up is such that you can easily get 12 or 14 peiople sitting around like in a big living room. Be sure to alert the front desk or concierge that there will be visitors. I'm sure they can help out to get everyone where they need to be.

Are you working with Grand Gatherings for this group? If not, you might want to check in with them as well.

Come on Dee, I know you are on these boards before I am in the morning. Where's the pictures with Flat Dee in them? Need the full report!!!

The meet was wonderful and had some surprise guests. One of the surprise guests has all the pictures on her camera and said she will post them. That's all I'm saying. You'll have to wait for the pictures!!!!

Hi all! Just want to introduce myself. My husband and I are going to WDW September 29th through October 6th to use our APs one last time before they expire. We're staying at the Swan September 29th through October 2nd, and then staying for the first time at BCV October 2 through the 6th! We actually planned and booked the BCV portion first then realized that the 1st was Epcot's 30th and added on a few days. Since BCV was booked for those days by the time we realized it, we decided to split the stay with the Swan.

This thread is fantastic! I was in the hospital earlier this week and have been recuperating while reading this thread. I'm now so excited for our vacation that I can't stand it. Is it September yet?

Thanks!!
We check in August 19th for the week, yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest List on Page 1

Here is the info from page 1 about shipping items to the BC:

Can I ship a package to Beach Club or Yacht Club for my stay?

If you ship a package to the resort, Mail by United States Postal Service, not anything else!!! If you mail other than USPS, your items will be shipped to the convention center and the shipping department will charge the recipient a handling charge, based on the weight of your package.

Disney's Beach Club Resort (or Disney's Beach Club Villas)
1800 Epcot Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830
Please give to Guest, (name on reservation)
Check-in date 9/1/10 (for example)

Im planning an anniversary surprise for my DBF at the YC in a few weeks and I'm getting so excited! I've never stayed in a Disney resort before! I've been following along on this thread for a while and you all make the resort so wonderful! Hope I make the most of my time there!

:banana::banana::banana:

Is you trip in August or September? Let us know your dates if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest List.

So - I just booked a third night before our Disney Cruise at the Beach Club - just couldn't figure out how to get everything in that we wanted to do without booking another night! I'm surprising my mom with Concierge Level - Garden View.

:woohoo:

Let us know when you your trip is if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest List.

What are the possible views for a YC/CL Garden View room? I only know about the gazebo view. We don't want to be near SAB.

TIA:)

:cheer2:

I don't think I have you on the Be Our Guest list. Let me know if you would like to be added.

Thanks, scotmel for answering the questions about YC CL GV.

Just booked BC for January!!

:yay:

What are your dates???

July 28-Aug 3, 2012. Jeano4545. First family vacation with GM(me) GP, 2DD, 2SIL, 2 GS. 3 GD, + MIL. I messed up...This was supposed to go on page 1 for when we are staying at the BC

:welcome:

Your posts are fine!

I will add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:goodvibes

Unfortunately, it looks like the Noodles have already been reserved for the date you are looking for (Tuesday July 31)- if you want you can try to contact the family that will have them to see if you can work something out.

Katesdad gave some excellent suggestions about getting together with your large family. The solarium would be an excellent choice!

Welcome. It may be your first stay at BCV but it won't be your last stay at YC/BC/BCV. The place has that effect on people.

Didn't realize it was 30 years ago. We still have our silver ticket from the opening year. Something I'm hoping to pass down to one of my kids if they want it.

Hi friends! :wave2: Now that my Beach Club Villas reservation is complete for October, are there any room requests anyone would suggest I make? Thanks for any and all of your ideas! :goodvibes

Hey Missy- unfortunately, I don't know much about the BCV, so I rely on others to provide answers to those questions. I do know (and you have learned) that BCV are almost always fully occupied, so requests are not always able to be honored. But here are some ideas from one of our BCV experts:

I think the most popular request would be a view of the Epcot fireworks. But this only works for some rooms on the higher floors.

Some people do not want a room overlooking the road because they worry about noise. Personally, that didn't bother me.

I'm not a view person. I keep the drapes closed. I like the living room/kitchen/washer-dryer that you get in the 1BR and 2BR. That's why I joined DVC. The Beach Club in particular feels like home to me, and of course the location is great. But you don't stay at BCV for the views.

**********************************************************

Well it looks like the planning stages for our 2013 trip are under way:cool1:

Trying to decide if upgrading to garden view is worth it? Does it really make a difference ?

Also, trying to decide if we go with YC to get the balcony?? This past trip was the first one without a balcony, and I did miss it!! Heck I would have been happy with a Juliet balcony.......but no balcony was disappointing .

maybe if we have a better view at BC we won't mind not having a balcony, and let's face it, it's closer to Epcot, has the Marketplace, a lively lobby......phew it sounds like I'm rambling!!!

Hi Ocalla-

My personal preference is for the Beach Club, because of the lighter decor, location and of course, Teena! But I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the YC either.

As far as view- I have posted previously that I always book standard view- I don't really care what I am looking at- although if it is just a few dollars more, then GV would be nice.

For both of my stays, my only request was a full balcony, and I got that, but my strategy has been that if there were no available rooms at the BC with a full balcony at checkin, I would see if I could switch over to the YC.

My next trip will provide a challenge because I know my teen will want a daybed rather than sharing sleeping space with his brother, so I am not sure whether daybed or balcony will be my priority request.

*******************************************************

At last, after a ridiculously long 4 months, I have finally finished my trip report from our March trip. :sad1:

I think I took so long to finish the report as it was a way of reliving the vacation and I just didn't want it to end.

The final update can be found at http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=45563903#post45563903.

For those who have been following along, thanks for reading. For those who haven't read it, you may be interested in taking a quick skim to see some of the BC/YC photos that are found throughout the report.

Thank you to Dee, Teena and all the other fantastic people that contribute to this thread. Hanging out here for the past year was a wonderful way to prepare for our trip and keep the excitement going. The tips learned and the enthusiasm shared were so wonderful. :goodvibes

It has been a great time getting to know some of you and making a few new friends along the way.

We don't have our next trip planned, so I expect it will be at least two years until we make our way back to WDW. Given that, I may not be sharing as much on this thread, but I'm sure I'll still be lurking. This group is truly one of the best on the Dis, sharing so much more than just info about the BC/YC.

I hope those of you with trips approaching have a great time and enjoy one of the best resorts at the happiest place on earth.

Thanks again for all the friendship and info!

Hey JanetMom- thanks for the "Dear John" letter, but don't you dare disappear!!! A little known fact about the Yacht & Beach Club resorts. They have a lot in common with the Hotel California. You can checkout any time you want, but you can never leave!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

What a nice reason to extend your stay!!! My DH (then DBF) and I visited EPCOT the year it opened, in April 1983, as High School Seniors. We have been ( with the park and each other) ever since!

Staying at the BC/YC/BCV make visits to our favorite park SO easy!

Come on Dee, I know you are on these boards before I am in the morning. Where's the pictures with Flat Dee in them? Need the full report!!!

I was just thinking the same thing! :)

I am waiting for news and pictures along with the rest of you!!!

The meet was wonderful and had some surprise guests. One of the surprise guests has all the pictures on her camera and said she will post them. That's all I'm saying. You'll have to wait for the pictures!!!!

No, the surprise guest was NOT me! I'll make it in person for a meet some year, though.

As soon as the mystery guest provides me with the photos, I'll post them, if they are appropriate for a family board.

After all, what happens in the Solarium stays in the Solarium!

:rotfl:

Geez Dee, now you are making me feel old. My DW and I were there in early Dec. 1982 on one of the two free trips she had "won". My oldest DD was born earlier that year. We were able to leave her with her grandmother for a few days while we escaped to the Poly. Brings back memories.

I took the weekend off from the boards and it looks like I've got about 10 pages to catch up on. I did a quick look through and I see some sad news. Very sorry to hear about the loss of CM, especially a fellow Patriots fan. This board really is like a family and even though I've yet to stay there, I feel like it's home already so hearing this is definitely sad news.

I'll finish catching up on the rest of the thread soon. Just wanted to offer my condolences to Teena, the rest of the YC/BC staff and their families and of course, everyone here who spent time with Vic.

side post to Dee...

Do you have any recommendations on a hotel north of Boston? Looking for something between Canobie Lake Park and Logan, so probably right off 93.

Thanks!

Your 1/2way point between Logan and Canobie Lake would be roughly North Reading, but I can't think of any hotels there. If you don't mind staying a wee bit closer to Boston, I can recommend the Marriott in Burlington. I especially like their restaurant, Summer Winter.
