I haven't been to Disneyland in 35 yrs and while I am a WDW pro going 2-3 times a year, I have some questions for Disneyland. Lightening Lane.... can you make 3 at a time like at WDW or is it one at time? Is buying photo pass worth it at Disneyland? I know characters do more roaming there. Are there photo pass photographers with them?

You can only select one LL at a time. After that you either have to use up the LL before selecting another, unless your LL is later in the day, in which case you can select another after 2 hours have elapsed from your previous selection. The DLR app will tell you when you are eligible for your next LL selection.

Photos are included with LLMP at DLR. Usually there are photographers with them but not always.

Additionally, unlike WDW, you cannot pre-book LLMP prior to your visit. You can begin booking LLMP once you scan your ticket at the gate and everyone in your party must have also scanned in if you are trying to book LLMP for a group. LLMP reservations tend to be available much later in the day at DLR vs WDW. If you have time, you should read up on stacking and modifying LLMP @ DLR as it is a different game plan than WDW.

LLMP at Disneyland is the same as the old Genie + program.

Roaming characters rarely, if ever, have PP photographers. By roaming, I'm referring to characters such as Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Alice, Mad Hatter, Moana, Pinocchio, etc. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto on Main Street have PP photographers on occasion, but most of the time one of the handlers will take a picture using your phone. If you go back to Toontown, you'll find PP photographers in Mickey & Minnie's houses. I believe Pixie Hollow might also has a designated PP photographer. You will always find PP just inside the park entrance at the Mickey floral display, at whatever centerpiece is on Main Street (ex. HalloweenPumpkin, Christmas Tree, 70th display), at the Partners Statue, and in front of the castle.

When I was at Pixie Hollow (finally!), the CM took the photos on my phone...no PP. same at the VISA photo ops.

Thanks. That makes sense since I don't think it is all that popular. Pooh & Friends are like Mickey & Friends on Main Street - sometimes there is a PP photographer and sometimes the handler takes the photo.

Below is the list from the Disneyland website, my comments following each location. @Tinkaboo did you experience anything different?

At Disneyland Park:

  • A-Wing / X-Wing - not sure
  • Garrison - not sure
  • Main Street, U.S.A. Train Station - Always at park entrance with the floral Mickey.
  • Mickey’s House Character Experience - Vast majority of the time but not always
  • Millennium Falcon - not sure
  • Minnie’s House Character Experience - Vast majority of the time but not always
  • Partners Statue - Always
  • Pixie Hollow Character Experience - Sometimes but not always
  • Royal Hall Character Experience - not sure
  • Sleeping Beauty Castle - Always
  • Town Square - Always
  • Winnie the Pooh Character Experience - Vast majority of time but not always
At Disney California Adventure Park:

  • Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome Character Experience - not sure
  • Buena Vista Street - probably
  • Buena Vista Street Character Experience - similar to Main Street characters, sometimes but not always
  • Cars Land Character Experience - Often with cars parked near Cozy Cone
  • Cars Land Entrance - Always
  • Grizzly Peak Airfield Character Experience - Sometimes but not always
  • Hollywood Boulevard Character Experience - I don't know about characters, but there is often a PP Photographer to take pics with the Hollywood backdrop
  • Pixar Pier Bridge - Often
  • Pixar Pier Character Experiences - Sometimes but not always
  • Super Hero Character Experiences - Sometimes but not always
  • Route 66 - Always

As mentioned you don’t get the 3 LL at once at DL, but you don’t need to. Overall LL at DLR is so much easier to use. Although some of the passes will run out by the evening they are much easier to get overall.

PhotoPass will not always be available everywhere. Be sure to check the Disneyland app to see if the character you’re meeting has a PhotoPass CM. If not, prepare to do a selfie.

My bad...should have clarified...VISA super Hero at CA had a PP...Darth Vader did not. Haven't done VISA regular characters so can't say.

Avengers Campus by the "A" logo at HQ has always had a PP EVERY TIME I have been there (and that's a lot I can tell you). PP usually at the front AC entrance, especially in the AM. Any other meet and greets will usually have a handler who is more than happy to take your photos for you. I have had GREAT ones who also shoot videos and I have had some disappointing ones...my once in a lifetime Cheshire Cat pics from OBB are all out of focus...who does that on a phone???

Otherwise, @LKing, you got it nailed.

I was there yesterday and was trying to note where the PP photographers were. Yes, the entrance to Avengers Campus as well as the entrance to Cars Land always have PP photographers. There are often photographers in the middle of the street (between Flos & Cozy Cone) in Cars Land to take pictures with the mountains in the background. Yesterday I saw a PP photographer next to the fountain at the end of Buena Vista Street. That's where Mickey usually hangs out, but he wasn't there. That PP photographer was taking pics of guests with the fountain in the background. For what it worth, I asked a PP photographer to take a picture of the Cars Land sign without me in the picture. They said that I could take pictures with my phone, but that they could only take pictures with me in it. I didn't know that.
