I hope they enforce this. The pool looks small for all those guests already! Not to mention if others try to get in.

Honestly I'm very surprised they did not increase the size of the pool. The one knock on that pool has always been that it is too small and gets over crowded at times. This would have been the perfect opportunity to increase it's dimensions. I don't understand the point of greatly increasing the size of the pool deck but not the pool itself? Not to mention that the new structure looks like BTMRR! Lol Doesn't look like lava at all. At least not yet.

The sign reinforces that the pool is for the exclusive use of guests of the Polynesian and that Magic Bands or room cards will be needed for access.

everyone is freaking out about this over on tikiman's fb page. a few people posted this email address and recommended we all let disney guest relations know we're not happy:

i'm mad that the pool doesn't open up until 10am- i had planned to have at least one morning where we woke up early and hit the pool before we hit the parks. my son is a total pool freak, and the lav pool was one of the top 3 reasons we chose the polynesian.

Hopefully that pool closing time is seasonal because that really is early, not too happy about that at all.

Other than DVC members at certain pools, the policy is no pool hopping. Even before the refurb, cast members were checking resort IDs and/or wrist bands.

DVC also cannot pool hop to Poly (only Poly DVC guests can use)-it is one of the excluded resort pools (along with BC, BLT, AK, and AOA)

Take this for what it's worth, but someone posted on Tikimans FB that they had spoken to someone at WDW and was assured the pool hours would be extended including closing at 11pm after Memorial Day. And opening time would ease back to 9am. This sounds logical, reasonable and fair. Hopefully it proves to be true.

I imagine Disney hopes the new kids play area will draw more kids out of the main pool and create a sense of more room. Also adding the hot tub area (where the old underused "kids" splash area was) will draw some out of the pool as well.

I'm happy there is now a gate and additional pool deck. It can be difficult to find a spot when the pool is busy. Fewer pool hoppers and more chairs = win.

Looking forward to using it in person in a few months!

Especially since there isn't another option with East Pool closure. I can't see them closing pool at 8:00pm on a roasting August evening! There sure would be a lot of upset guests!

Even in January on a warm afternoon it was close to impossible to get a lounge on the deck Most times I ended up on the beach. Looking forward to the bigger deck!

Well, remember my dilemma with whether or not the pool would be done for my April 18-25th stay? I panicked and jumped ship and switched over to Beach Club. Very happy about that as we have stayed at BC before and loved it. Well, yesterday I got an email that there is going to be construction going on over there now! UGH. I can't escape the construction. I have no idea as to the extent of it but I just can't believe it especially since I even asked before changing if there would be construction over there that hasn't been announced yet.

The BC/YC thread is such a great thread with wonderful, fun people!! Part of the reason why I booked the BC a few years back was due to that thread!

I hear ya! I'm loving this Poly thread! Never been there and were all soooo looking forward to it! It's great to hear about others' experiences.

Ugh. Tikiman just said on Facebook he will not be sharing any more updates about the resort except official info from Disney. He is being pressured by them to stop the updates and is weary of negativity (although he doesn't mention from whom.) He had posts up every few hours the past couple of weeks.

I have a bad feeling the lava pool will not be open in April at all. I check in the 13th and I need to know if it will be closed because I will switch resorts of it is. Without his updates I'm in the dark. Not many people post updates here.

I just found his FB page, and I feel like I'm in mourning. It was so nice to haves glimmer of what to expect for my first WDW trip. :-(

I'm at BC now, there were groups of "suits" walking around, like 10-15 guys, taking notes and looking at exterior things I'm guessing that had something to do with the upcoming construction the previous poster just mentioned. I hope for BC sake they don't overtake the resort like they did at Poly. I welcome the improvements, but Disney gets a falling grade for how they handled the Poly refurb in my book, F.
