Official Poly construction update thread **updated video page 103(2/17/15)**

Even though the pool will be the same size I'm hoping the new child splash area and hot tub will draw people out of the pool. And with the new gate there should be fewer pool hoppers. All in all positive changes.

Oh and the new lounge chairs look really plush!

Gf has the same padded lounges, so comfy! Glad to see them now at Poly. I hope they have some umbrellas for the lounges, the summer sun is so hot!!

After seeing the most recent pics of the Lava pool completion, I have to admit I'm not too thrilled with how it is turning out. I can't quite wrap my head around the re-make of the volcano into the "lava formation thing" that it now is. It seems like an awfully big effort that adds very little. In fact, I think the volcano had a bigger cool factor and was actually more attractive. Is the new waterfall feature really that small? Those new buildings around the pool are an eye-sore. The larger decking makes the pool look even smaller than it is. The last thing this resort needed was more concrete! One of the greatest things about the Poly has always been the beautiful plant life, not concrete. The new decking also now seems to be overrun with lounge chairs. It looks like the deck of a cruise ship. Over the years I had always wished there were more umbrella tables around the pool area. They were always very popular. I was hoping there would be more umbrella tables around the pool added with the increased pool deck area but that does not seem to be the case. It looks like there are actually fewer. Disappointed so far but keeping my fingers crossed.

So far ITA. Almost thinking to vacation elsewhere now. Maybe that's what WDW wants - they have too many guests it seems.

I think Disney will add more landscaping around pool. Everyone wants different things, I prefer a lounge chair, so I'm happy they added more. Last stay I never was able to get a lounge on the deck, and always ended up on the beach. So I'm excited with larger deck.

As a DLR vet, I find this all sort of interesting for a Deluxe hotel. People should google images of the padding on the chaise lounge chairs at the Disneyland Hotel or The Grand Californian to see what guests get on the West Coast. Here's an example: http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/43/3b/d1/comfortable-chaise-lounges.jpg Those paddings are substantially thicker than the images I've seen for the Poly or GF.

Happy news, there are photos of the Lava pool open to guests today, posted to Tikiman's FB page!!

Listen all you negative Nancy's if you want to piss and moan about everything happening at the Poly so be it. Don't go there as Disney has several other properties that may be more to your liking. If not take your vacation dollar somewhere else and make room for us!

I hope they will bring back the pool cabanas.

Oh no! I didn't even think to check for those to be sure they were back! That is a huge draw for us when booking the Poly. We LOVE the privacy of our own space in a cabana.

Very nice!! Funny that I'm on the west coast but always end up in wdW. I think DL has to up their game more because of all the accessible offsite hotels walking distance that they compete against.
I stayed at GF last year, and the lounges were pretty comfy. I think all the WDW deluxe shoukd have padded lounges, don't know why they don't!!

Excellent news about pool opening!

I think of the new poly pool change being similar to changes to the hub at Magic kingdom. Not exactly about being aesthetically pleasing so much as maximizing guest comfort and experience.

Huntconn totally sums it up for me. We have stayed at the Poly for years. Always our favorite. So far only a fraction of the improvements may actually be beneficial to my family. Most changes appear to take away from our experience rather than enhance it. I will have to keep watching and will eventually experience the finished product first hand before passing the final judgement, but overall not pleased with what I've seen so far.

I'm just looking forward to a great vacation in a great location. It's been too long since I was able to visit WDW so I'll happily deal with construction and delays and whatever else. I have been following the progress of the pool eagerly. First it would be done and then not and vice versa. While I have appreciated Tikiman's reports, he's part of the reason that I've experienced anxiety about my upcoming vacation with his mix of great news and rumors of delays. I had to stop reading him for a while just to be able to relax about the whole thing.

Just in case you didn't notice, this is a discussion board. It's meant for people to express their opinions, both positive and negative.

Planning a trip to WDW world in October and considering staying here... will construction be done by then? or will it be intrusive?

I stayed at DLR when it was under construction and it was great because we got a sizable discount and the construction didnt bother us at all.

The East end pool ("quiet pool") will still be under construction until Early 2016. If you pick a longhouse near the main pool or west side I don't think it will be an issue.
