I hope they will bring back the pool cabanas.
I hope they will bring back the pool cabanas.
Even though the pool will be the same size I'm hoping the new child splash area and hot tub will draw people out of the pool. And with the new gate there should be fewer pool hoppers. All in all positive changes.
Oh and the new lounge chairs look really plush!
I'm hoping for umbrellas too. If they don't have any I might be packing mine.Gf has the same padded lounges, so comfy! Glad to see them now at Poly. I hope they have some umbrellas for the lounges, the summer sun is so hot!!
After seeing the most recent pics of the Lava pool completion, I have to admit I'm not too thrilled with how it is turning out. I can't quite wrap my head around the re-make of the volcano into the "lava formation thing" that it now is. It seems like an awfully big effort that adds very little. In fact, I think the volcano had a bigger cool factor and was actually more attractive. Is the new waterfall feature really that small? Those new buildings around the pool are an eye-sore. The larger decking makes the pool look even smaller than it is. The last thing this resort needed was more concrete! One of the greatest things about the Poly has always been the beautiful plant life, not concrete. The new decking also now seems to be overrun with lounge chairs. It looks like the deck of a cruise ship. Over the years I had always wished there were more umbrella tables around the pool area. They were always very popular. I was hoping there would be more umbrella tables around the pool added with the increased pool deck area but that does not seem to be the case. It looks like there are actually fewer. Disappointed so far but keeping my fingers crossed.
As a DLR vet, I find this all sort of interesting for a Deluxe hotel. People should google images of the padding on the chaise lounge chairs at the Disneyland Hotel or The Grand Californian to see what guests get on the West Coast. Here's an example: http://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/01/43/3b/d1/comfortable-chaise-lounges.jpg Those paddings are substantially thicker than the images I've seen for the Poly or GF.Gf has the same padded lounges, so comfy! Happy news, there are photos of the Lava pool open to guests today, posted to Tikiman's FB page!!
Just in case you didn't notice, this is a discussion board. It's meant for people to express their opinions, both positive and negative.Listen all you negative Nancy's if you want to piss and moan about everything happening at the Poly so be it. Don't go there as Disney has several other properties that may be more to your liking. If not take your vacation dollar somewhere else and make room for us!
Planning a trip to WDW world in October and considering staying here... will construction be done by then? or will it be intrusive?
I stayed at DLR when it was under construction and it was great because we got a sizable discount and the construction didnt bother us at all.
