Now my MIL and BIL are going too! So we have changed from POP to POR! Hoping to learn more about POR soon! Really excited to have them along!

POR is a very pretty resort. It didnt work for us because we had 5 people in the room and there just wasnt enough room for all of us
As long as your not packing into one room...you will love the resort.

We were there Feb 2010 and LOVED it! Here is the link for the unofficial website to Port Orleans: The Unofficial Visitor's Guide to Disney's Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter Resorts

I wanted to go back again this year, but ds wanted to stay somewhere different and he wanted to stay at a resort with bunk beds. It is a favorite of mine and lots of picturesque opportunities.

Is it October yet?? I have lots of fun things planned for the summer and don't want to wish it away, especially after our long, crappy winter, but it's so hard!

Hellooooo to everybody staying at AKL the same time we are! (10/21-10/30) :cool1:

That's a lot of us for just one thread! :hippie:

I had lasik as well and it was the best thing I ever did. The moment I sat up from that 15 minute procedure I could see the clock on the wall (which I hadn't been able to see when I laid down) and almost cried. The surgery is even better now in that they no longer have to cut your cornea (which I had to have done, although didn't bother me at all). If you have flex spending through either of your work it covers lasik, so it's certainly something you can save for pre-tax without much of an impact. It's completely and totally worth it. I don't know if your DH will be able to get it with the implant, but if he can and finds after the surgery his vision is not where he wants it to be, I would highly recommend it. Changed my life for sure!!! :woohoo:

I can only imagine the delite in being able to see without glasses. I am very fortunate to have had great eyesite all my life.

The Dr seems to think it is quite possible with the intra ocular lens inplant that DH vison will improve to where glasses will no longer be neccessary and since the surgery is due to his cataracts it is covered by insurance. A win win situation :)

Amen Sistah!

We're actually going to Myrtle Beach in August - and although I'm looking forward to that trip - it's not quite the same as planning for Disney!:hyper:

Fun! I love Myrtle Beach! You are right, it's not the same, but it will still be fun. We were going to do Disney next in 2013 for just a few days along with a week at Clearwater. I think we've changed our minds though, and will put off Disney just one year :headache: to make sure that the Fantasyland expansion is complete. So it's looking like 2013 will be a North or South Carolina beach trip! :beach:

We don't really have anything planned for the summer except a day trip to Holiday World in Santa Claus, IN. I mostly using this trip to see what type of rides might scare my DS4. He went to Holiday World and Six Flags when he was 2 and a half, but he wasn't really tall enough to ride much. This summer he is tall enough to ride everything at Holiday World except the big coasters. I'm hoping this will give me a little insight into the things that scare him...like hills, drops, spinning, darkness, sounds or special effects, etc.

I LOVE Myrtle Beach but haven't been there for years. I hope to make it back there soon!

I am still waiting on Oct 2011 to get here, but I DEFINITELY want to start thinking about a 2013 WDW trip once Fantasyland is complete! :)

What is Holiday World? I don't think I've heard about it before.

We were going to do 2013, but it really depends on if it's complete or not. We want to take the kids a few other places before they leave and only have 6 years/7 summers left before my oldest one is done!

I love living in Madison, we have lots of stuff to do around here. We have the farmer's market every Saturday, we will get a pool pass, we play softball twice a week, swimming lessons, birthdays, graduation parties and Wisconsin Dells a few times. Our summer will be over before we know it!

Holiday World is a small/medium sized family-owned amusement park in Santa Claus, IN. It's about 3 hours SW of Indy, 1 hour W of Louisville, KY. It's very family-friendly....FREE parking, FREE Pepsi soft drinks, FREE sunscreen and FREE inner tube usage in the water parks EVERYDAY!!! We love it and admission is pretty reasonable with discounts available.

We do have lots to keep us busy here during the summer....a zoo membership, pool pass, etc. but I'm just SOOO ready for Disney!

You, my friend, are a rock star! :worship:

Oh stop! :lovestruc You all rock too! :worship:

We are leaving for Charleston, SC in 2 1/2 wks with my in laws. We were there last year and loved it, so MIL decided to plan the annual family vacation there again.

Speaking of that, I thought I would put this question out there to all waiting (patiently and impatiently) for October to get here.

What are your plans for the summer?

Mine:
We are going to Charleston, SC - Folly Beach to be exact, with my dear in laws in 2 1/2 wks. Then both kids are going to VBC when we get home, then both are going to Boy Scout Camp and Girl Scout Camp the same week (vacation for Mommy & Daddy  and other stuff wink, wink). Then Justin will be turning 11 yrs old July 14th, so a birthday party for him. Then school starts in August.

Our plans for summer are softball, the zoo, a week in Wisconsin Dells, pool passes to the pool a few miles away, swimming lessons, soccer games, Mallard's baseball games, going to the farmers market, the zoo, yard work, Ellie's 7th bday party, my BF is hosting his nephew's graduation party at our house. Then we have the 4th of July and the Taste of Madison Labor Day weekend. The summer will go fast and slow at the same time!

I found a house rental there on one of those sites that you can rent vacation homes from.

How about everybody else?

Just our normal 2 or 3 trips back home to So. Indiana (just across the bridge from Louisville, Ky). Might try to spend some time with my hubby's sister at her home in TN sometime this summer. Summer is our down time from traveling because we travel all fall and winter long. We are big Universtity of Dayton football and basketball fans (all sports really) and we try to go to as many away games as possible. The football season kicks off in Pittsburgh, PA over Labor Day weekend and that always makes for a fun trip. We will be missing two football games this year with our Disney trip and I am dreading telling the coach that we won't be there! We're known around campus as being the "superfans".

Our football team had a game in upstate NY this past November and it just so happened that the UD volleyball team was playing against Fordham (in The Bronx). We thought we'd swing by and catch the match. When we walked into the gym, the v-ball coach did a doubletake and then put his head down and started shaking it in disbelief!:rotfl: He shook my hubby's hand and said "Thanks for coming...I assume you are on your way to the football game, right?" LOL! He invited our kids to sit with him on the bench during warmups which was awesome! This was on a Friday. The football game was on Saturday, and then we arrived back to Dayton on Sunday afternoon. We showed up to the v-ball home match on Sunday and the team couldn't believe we had made it back already. We explained to them that we hadn't even been to our house yet and that we drove straight to the game from our hotel in PA! They told us we were crazy! Maybe we are, but I wouldn't have changed a thing about that trip!

Anyway, sorry for the long post. Just thought I'd share a little bit of info about my wacky family with my fellow October peeps.:thumbsup2

How about everybody else?

I will post pics when we get home. We are doing a family portrait while there. I am hoping to get the vanishing lighthouse in the background of the pic. I will get info for you and post that too. Last year when we were at Charleston, we stayed about 45 minutes away and drove to the beach and then toured the old town and had a blast. Dear MIL said we were going somewhere different, but then she said we were going to Charleston again and actually staying on the beach. I grew up going to Panama City Beach, Florida, but after going to Charleston, I don't see myself going to another beach again. It was beautiful and very family friendly, although PCB does have the clear water and white beaches, it is more for college kids and high school kids. I am looking forward to going back to Charleston, it may be our yearly family vacation place now.

We are Badger fans and do the same, but just with football. Not enough funds to go to the away games, Brent has season tickets, so he goes to all the football games. Luckily the 2 weekends we are gone for Disney are both away games!

My grandma and her boyfriend winter in PCB, so we have an open invitation to go down there whenever. Also went when I was in 8th grade for part of the summer and it was nice. I love the Carolina's, but I definitely want to stay at the beach since we live so far away from one!

So excited to see so much action on our Thread today! It had been getting pretty slow around here!

Our summer plans this year include:
1) Baseball
2) Baseball
3) More Baseball! My 3 boys are on traveling teams so it's pretty much all we do for the next 2-3 months.
4) 2 long weekend trips up to our cabin on Spectacle Lake/Eagle River, WI
5) Numerous weekends boating on local lakes
6) Driving down to Myrtle Beach, SC for 10 days in August
7) Planning for Disney in October!

Our summer vacation is June 4-11.. we are going to Playa del Carmen, near Cancun. We  going to the beach. DH invited some close friends of ours and we will have a blast. At least DD will have a friend to hang out with close to her age. DS is 12 and as long as he is in the water he is a happy camper. Can't wait for a pina colada on the beach!!

Then we come back and the first week of July we are off to San Antonio and Austin Texas. I'll be going with one of my bestfriends and her daughter and my kiddos. Will go to Sea World and Six Flags. In Austin, my other bestfriend lives there, who also happens to be my other bestfriend's sister. Plan to go to the Guadalupe river and try tubing there. :cool1:

August 13-20 we go to South Padre Island for our last week of vacation before school starts. Schlitterbahn park is there and we also plan on doing a dolphin tour and hopefully do some fishing.

I shouldn't complain.. but October seems to be so far away!! This is the trip that I am looking forward to the most :)

Just a couple of days and kiddos finish school June 1st :cutie:

Jealous! I have wanted to go to Schlitterbahn since I saw it on the Travel Channel!
