Jealous! I have wanted to go to Schlitterbahn since I saw it on the Travel Channel!

It's a great water park!! Usually the kiddos go on to the super water slides, and I hang out on the lazy river. You are allowed to take a cooler with your own food and drinks. I used one of my timeshare weeks to exchange into South Padre Island. There is another one in New Braunfels, Tx but have yet to visit that one.

Are you still looking for a timeshare? How's the research going?

Hi Shannon

I worked out what a PM is and tried it only to discover that I don't have enough posts to use it yet!

Can you add us to the official Oct dates. We are staying All Sports Resort from 9th October to 14th October.

Will post my ADR information soon.

Thanks Sherie

Our summer plans are fast approaching. We are headed to Chicago Area next Friday for a week. We are meeting my parents and my Brother and SIL. It will be the first time in a while we will all be together.

For summer plans my DH and I are taking a one night getaway at a nice bed and breakfast here in CT and going to a few wineries.

Then at the end of July we are taking my DD(2) too sesame place out in PA for a long weekend. My DS will be in Maine with his grandmother.

Next year will be the fun trip though...my sister is getting married next June in Jamaica! I can't wait for this one! the whole family will be making the trip so it will be like a bit family reunion.

South Padre Island is another place we want to take the kids before they are gone. Maybe in a few years.

We have decided to wait for a timeshare for now. I think we will rent other people's timeshares for places we want to go and figure it what places and company we really like. We will probably look in another 4-5 years.

Renting a timeshare week is a great way to see what you really want and get as much info before making a purchase. There are times when renting is a lot less than using your own timeshare week. I was just reading on another forum that a person is offering a rental at Bonnet Creek for June in a 2 bedroom for $600! This resort is right next door to Carribean beach. Their maintenance fees are more than $600. If we can't stay at disney, this resort is our favorite.

If you ever decide to go to South Padre Island, let me know if you have any questions. We go there frequently during the summer. :)

oh I love the lazy days of summer - yes i don't plan alot for summer because we really just like to stay around the house and swim and relax. DD is going to Girl Scout camp for three days at the end of June. Then in the middle of August both kids are going to 5 days of day camp through the "Y". A whole of scrapping booking for me. Hopefully a couple trips to the cabin - time to teach the puppy (lab/blood hound mix) to swim. Then of course the general house maintance that goes on all summer long.

All of you going on vacation this summer enjoy they all sound so great.

I have found so many rentals on the TUG threads that are cheap since they are last minute, but I think we will go with those. I know they are only 45 days out, but I can pick and choose with my vacation days and we will end up driving. There are so many rental choices now the only thing to really worry about is what kind of shape the room/resort is in, not so much availability. We can always do a regular hotel room if we can't find a time share. Plus we will drive for those kind of trips, so no worries about airfare!

Thanks! I definitely will keep you in mind when we decide to go!

Just booked our stay at POP- wondering if any of you wonderful people have of any advice on what to do/see and what not do/see:worship:?

I kinda figured that when I saw how many posts you had and I will add you later tonight. Welcome to the thread. Glad to hear you are alright after all the earthquakes hit your area this past year. Now I am off to swim lessons for both kids. See you all this evening.

Nothing planned for over the summer as of now but I am sure DH and I will do some day tripping. Nice thing about being retired you can just decide to pick up and go spur of the moment

Looks like we migt have the same MNSSHP date too - we are going Tuesday 11th. We will be the ones with the bewildered look and funny accents looking completely lost. My son is so looking forward to his first chance to trick or treat. Not sure what I am going to do about a costume for him yet - hoping to get a chance to shop for one in New Orleans or failing that I assume we can buy something at the parks the day before.

Speaking of that, I thought I would put this question out there to all waiting (patiently and impatiently) for October to get here.

What are your plans for the summer?

Mine:
We are going to Charleston, SC - Folly Beach to be exact, with my dear in laws in 2 1/2 wks. Then both kids are going to VBC when we get home, then both are going to Boy Scout Camp and Girl Scout Camp the same week (vacation for Mommy & Daddy  and other stuff wink, wink). Then Justin will be turning 11 yrs old July 14th, so a birthday party for him. Then school starts in August.

For some reason, I've been neglecting the October thread, so I'm getting caught up with everyone's plans now!

We have no plans for the summer! I'm just happy my DH will be home at night instead of working til 11, so I can actually spend time with him for a couple of months (he works 2:30-11 most of the year, but the summer he gets to work days :cool1:)!

I'm hoping we will go to Boston one weekend and see a Red Sox game, and maybe go to Six Flags in NJ so I can finally ride the Kingda Ka! Other than that, no plans, just gonna hang out and try to stay cool...I'm not a big fan of heat and humidity!

Hi all! :wave2: I will be staying at POP September 30th till October 6th. As of right now it is just my dad and I going. We are going to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Magic Kingdom. I am also going to be attending my first MNSSHP on the 30th. Also experiencing Food and Wine for the first time. I have some ADR's booked right now, but I'm still playing around with them. When I figure them out I will add them. September 30th can't come quick enough.

I kinda miss being a newlywed. Being able to go and come without the kids is nice, but I wouldn't change anything about my life with the exception that Justin is healthy and normal.

Aren't you glad you don't live down south, where it is humid 75% of the time. I remember being in Ohio visiting with the in laws and my sis in law says to me, I'm sorry it is so humid up her while you are visiting. I just looked at her and said "What Humidity?" It was weather was so nice and even though the weatherman said it was humid, it did not feel humid.

I can't believe I am saying this again. I must be getting old. lol. But I am tired and heading to bed at 9 pm. My normal work week begins tomorrow night, so I may not be on the boards this weekend. Good night my October friends/family. Love you all.

This is DH's first year of being retired, I think I'm doing pretty well adjusting to having him around all the time. We'll be spending a good part of this summer at the beautiful Jersey shore.

I am jealous of your DH's retirement! My DH and I are young still (32 and 33) and I am the worker bee of the family. I have more years of work left to go than I care to count. :headache:

Our summer plans are of the simple hang at home and relax variety. We have a bunch of family coming to see us for the 4th of July, but no other special plans otherwise. Saving all our money and energy for our October trip!
