Official Dancing With the Stars, season 16 thread

I have to echo what many other posters have said. Completely over Jacoby and his mamma. It's just ridiculous. Can you imagine if Sean's fiance started acting that way? Ridiculous.

I am no ballroom expert, but I do know what I like and I liked Derek's Paso Doble. I always love his Pasos as I feel like that is when his skills as a choreographer are really seen. This one was no different. My husband even commented that that was likely the best dance he has seen on DWTS and certainly the most entertaining one he has watched (he doesn't watch all that often, though). Len has said in the past that he has messed up scores before and after watching the dance a second time, he has come out and said he messed up the score. I'm hoping that this will be one of those situations. I think that both Bruno and Carrie Anne were acting as if they liked it more than Zendaya and Val's dance that was scored perfect.




I'm predicting that Sean is going home, but would not mind a "surprise" elimination and see Jacoby leave. I'm enjoying everyone that is left, but I'm tired of him. I thought he was funny at first, but it is wearing thin and his mother has really just overstayed her welcome for me.

But comments about Wynonna's weight were just as rude and no one seemed to object. And last season had Sabrina and Shannon, who were awesome dancers. And I remember comments on their appearance, too. Sorry if I offended you.. She was a great credit to our country in the Olympics, but not that great to me on DWTS.

My issue was Wy is that couldn't move, not that she was overweight. Shannon? Do you mean Shawn Johnson. She has the same build as Aly and the only comments that I recall is that they dressed her in outfits that did not flatter her legs. IMO, they are making the same costuming mistake with Aly. As for Sabrina, I've always thought she had a rockin' hot body !

Add Jacoby's mom to the list of things I am over this season on DWTS.

I thought Zendaya was adorable in her first dance and fantastic in her trio. I have to say that Val has never been a favorite of mine and last season I was so over the "Are they or aren't they?" Kelly/Val soap opera drama so he annoyed me even more. I thought giving him a teenaged partner would be a sentence for an early exit but he has really surprised me with his totally appropriate and fantastic choreography. I suppose it doesn't hurt that she is a great dancer and a good student, but still. I also liked when he chastized Gleb for getting too sexy. LOL

I liked Aly's first dance a lot better than her trio but until they came up to dance, I actually forgot she was on the show. I thought we were already down to 4. Oops.

Ingo and Sean are basically interchangeable for me, dancing wise but if I have to watch one of them dance again next week, I'd much rather Ingo. Neither of their trios was particularly great but Sean's seemed like a bit of a mess.

I like Kellie a lot. Like a whole lot. I don't like Derek so it is hard for me to root for her - I admit it. I thought her first dance was good but did feel short, just like Derek said. I think it was the song. I thought the Paso was super exciting and impressive and that Len was overly harsh but I sort of understand what he was getting at. The thing is, the judges are NEVER EVER consistent and sometimes reward you for going outside of the strict rules of the dance and sometimes punish you. I wish they would take a clear stance on that one way or the other. Having said that, this Paso seemed way more Paso than the Quickstep that wasn't a Quickstep with Shawn last season so I thought a 7 was a bit much.

I am hoping Sean will go home, but am betting on Ingo.

Most people go from a light to moderate exercise program to hours spent practicing on DWTS. Aly went from Olympic level training to DWTS. No, she's not paper thin like Kellie or Zendaya and she NEVER has been that thin. Aly has always been a muscular young woman because of her sport and I bet she's stronger and more athletic than both of them put together. That works to her advantage because Mark can choreograph more demanding routines for her. FTR, I think Zendaya's one weakness is a lack of core strength.

That's really mean. I hope the two "joys" that you are a Nana to don't ever weigh more than a feather.

I remember reading an interview by Apolo's trainer that he actually ended DWTS in worse shape than he went into it. He was in active Olympic training at the time which is so much more rigorous than the dancing. You couldn't tell by looking at him, but his trainer knew.

I have to say that I did notice that Aly was heavier than when she was doing gymnastics. I think she probably weighs more than Marc does now, but he is very strong and can certainly handle the lifts. Her legs are so muscular and strong, overall it is an advantage to her. I just wish the costumers would do a better job with her.

My favorites are the same, but switched up . I like Zendaya, then Kellie then Aly. I think Aly might be the dark horse in the competition. Mark can really choreograph for those really athletic women and she might take it with an outstanding freestyle.

Everyone has their favorite stars, but who are your favorite pros? Tony is my favorite guy. He has so much patience with his partners and he is a great dancer. And I love his smile. I think Derek is the best choreographer and is adorable, but he does showboat too much. His freestyle dances are outstanding.

My favorite gal is Julianne Hough. What can I say, great in all aspects of dance. I love Chelsea Hightower, too.

Nice guy, so patient with his partners, cute, and an accent! I just hope someday he'll get somebody young enough to stay in the competition a while so I can see and hear more of him.

DD11 LOVES Derek because he's a living Ken doll. I like him too.

DH likes Chelsie because she's so cute and fun.

I agree that Derek is a great choreographer, but has become a little too arrogant over the years. I do however really like Tristen. Would love him to get a good partner who stays in for a while to see him shine. As for the girls, I kind of like Pita. She is tough, but fun.

I am a huge Ravens fan and sometimes on this show Jacoby and his mom have gotten on my nerves. But, Jacoby does a lot for the community here in Baltimore and New Orleans and during Super Bowl week his mom cooked for the entire team. I have not seen Jacoby act like this in interviews during football season and seems like a great guy. I know he probably will not win so I am hoping it is either Kellie or Aly.

I am a huge Ravens fan and sometimes on this show Jacoby and his mom have gotten on my nerves. But, Jacoby does a lot for the community here in Baltimore and New Orleans and during Super Bowl week his mom cooked for the entire team. I have not seen Jacoby act like this in interviews during football season and seems like a great guy. I know he probably will not win so I am hoping it is either Kellie or Aly.
