Official Code Watch for August 2007

This won't help me and I am still keeping my fingers crossed for some type of discount for a little earlier in August, specifically starting on the 15th.

I am also looking for an earlier arrival date - August 12 or 13. Still keeping my fingers crossed for an AP discount or the like ...

I'm hoping that some people will switch their days about to get the free dining leaving loads of empty rooms in the other weeks in August so Disney will just have to offer some kind of discount ;) :)

That would be nice and maybe since everyone else already changed their plans to take advantage of the free dining maybe we'll even have low crowds too.

That would be nice, but remember - school starts by August 27th for probably about 80% of the kids in this country (maybe even more) The August 26th start date is specific to this. Remember - there were a lot of complaints about free dining last year and how crowded everything was. A lot of people simply can't vacation the last week of August or in September and Disney knows this.

I am one of the fortunate people with school age children who don't start school until after Labor Day. My children are really the only ones I know who start school this late and it has proven to be a big bonus for late summer vacations.

I already have the free dining from the bounce back plan, but I have to tell you that August 26th date is great for New Yorkers/New Jesery and maybe another tri-state area. We NEVER go back to school before the Wednesday AFTER Labor Day, even our college kids. My son - in college doesn't go back to the Wednesday after labo day. I predict if these are the dates, it will be full on North Easters - TriStaters taking advantage.

:thumbsup2 Yep, that's why I booked our trip for the week of the 26th, although I think the kids start the day after Labor Day, at least they did last year. Free dining sure wouldn't hurt.:rotfl:

Is it possible they'll also offer a room only deal? 40% off rooms would be a lot better for us since our dates start early than 26/8. Currently we're camping, but we're hoping to switch the last couple of days to Yacht Club.

Thanks for posting that Cheryl!!! I was just headed over to the "other" board to PM you and see if you knew anything yet...I sat down with DH and the kids (the kids don't know when we are going) and they decided on POR (I've been there as you know and I tried to talk them into POFQ but DH likes a bigger resort and some other things struck him about POR that made him want to stay there)...I booked just to figure some #'s but am looking at this deal and am going to change my bookings. We are planning 2 nights room only with AAA rate if possible and then will book a package for the remainder.
Now if only I can keep waiting on pins and needles!!!

I was there last year 8/23 to 8/30 with free dining and it wasn't that busy. I wanted to go for more than 7 nights so an 8/26 start wouldn't work for me. I'm sticking with my original plans of 8/20 to 8/30 and hope for some sort of discount-but I do have it booked now with AAA and if I can't get a better discount I'll hope for lower crowds that first week.

That's exactly why we're going then. (August 26-September 4)

I believe my college is one of the few in the area that starts before Labor Day.:sad2: (August 29 this year).

My fingers are cramped because I still have them crossed for us early to mid August visitors. We need a discount or at least a ticket upgrade.

We'll be there then too!! - only we get there on the 21st, only because of the cost of flying that Monday, so it's the 21st - 30th. :goodvibes Last year I was there August 22nd - 30th and didn't find it to be overly crowded either. I actually found that many ride would have a 20 minute wait, but they were basically a walk on, maybe a 10 minute wait tops, but that was towards the end of the trip. I can't really push the trip back too much later than the 30th, but I found that doing a split res ends up costing $100 more than booking without free dining! :scared1:

I hoping still for aug 12!!

Me too....

I have to say I'm officially a DIS Forum addict....I just called Disney Reservations...spoke to a lovely CM he didn't know anything about the Dining Plan...but did say if it did become available we would not need to cancel our existing reservation they will just amend it.

Finger, arms legs crossed...

What airline are you flying? I already found someone on this thread on the same Jet Blue flights. We're flying home at 5:45 on the 30th.

None of the CM's seem to know about free dining. I ended up biting the bullet and booking 2 packages, 7 nights @ POP and a 3 night package w/dining at WL. Still holding out hope for free dining, although I did have a code discount for the packages, so I've already saved some money.

Hey, I think some of y'all might want to join us over on the Official Free Dining Freakout 2007. Last night a "free dining" image started showing up on the Disney web site. Right now if you click on the image you just get a blank page, but this does seem to confirm that some sort of free dining will be offered soon.

:dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance: :dogdance:

I am soooooo excited its coming..........
