Official Code Watch for August 2007

I was really hoping that my May trip would drop and I could use a credit from that trip toward the August trip but it is actually $25 higher now. I paid $267. :scared1: But I'm going alone in May and August will be our family of 5 so I'm glad to get August for under $200. I still think there is a chance of a credit in May and maybe even August but I'll just have to go again if that happens and at least for now I've got the exact flights I want.

You know, reading the terms and conditions on the tickets, it does say that to get the fares we did, you have to book two or more people at the same time. That may explain partly why you are unable to get May's trip for less. Although, they did just release the Spring Sale tickets, so maybe it will still go down? Good Luck!

I did go ahead and purchase the flights, I can't see them going much lower and I'd be kicking myself if they went higher!

I've been watching Jet Blue nearly daily for at least a month now. At first it was $99 each way then dropped to $94 going then back up to $99 each then down to $89 each way yesterday. I booked at that for $197 RT for the exact times I wanted. Leave 8/20 at 10:30 am and fly home on 8/30 at 5:45 pm.

:thumbsup2 I've been watching and took it as a sign to book yesterday when I saw the $89 rates.

:wizard: Good luck to you on free dining. I think I'll miss out.

Looks like we are on the same flight both down and back!

Well...I'm not really going alone in May but I'm going with friends and I'm not paying for them. Now the may flights are up another $25 to $317 RT. I still think they may drop.

WOW. What a small world! What seats did you choose? We're in rows 6 & 7. I'll put the 4 year old behind a family member so she won't be kicking a poor stranger. We've also got DD(8) and DS(6).

Do you have your room(s) booked? I decided to go ahead and book POR with a AAA discount and paid DDP.

Have you ever stayed at Pop? That's where I'm going in May if you want me to check anything out for you or take any photos.

OK...I guess I should have look at your signature. Looks like Pop will be new for you and your DD will be 9.

We are in row 5 each way......amazing. We haven't booked yet, we're still deciding if we are going to book a package through AAA. Is that what you did? We are booking a room only @ WL for 3 nights with the AAA discount. I'm not sure how I feel about booking my package with AAA, although the rate is good. I'm also torn between POP and a moderate like CBR. Not sure we can afford a moderate for 7 nights and 3 nights at a deluxe.

I booked with AAA to get the discount on the room for a package. I have never book with a TA before but my DH really loved the DDP last year and he's not crazy about Disney so I thought I better book the meal plan again. Even by doing several breakfasts buffets and dinner buffets (certainly not "maximizing" the dining credits) we are still out ahead of paying out of pocket and I do have the DDE discount. I know DH wouldn't like Pop so POR was our best option. I couldn't really justify paying the DDP without some sort of discount on the room (since I have an AP and could likely get that discount) so I decided to give booking with a AAA TA a try. I booked with a DISer I'm friendly with rather than with my local AAA office and her service has been great. If Disney offers anything else for us mid August guests before the 45 day final payment date my AAA TA can always switch to that if its available.

I know my DH wouldn't like Pop but I really enjoyed it. My DH loved POFQ but we went with a couple of friends last year so we had 2 rooms. POR is the only moderate we can stay at with 1 room. We've stayed several times at the Polynesian and I loved it there but DH actually prefered POFQ (and POR-we walked over there last year). He liked that you could almost forget you were at Disney there. He loved the quiet escape from the parks. I don't think he'd forget he was at Disney if he went to Pop. He'd really miss the lush landscaping of POR if we stayed at Pop. I think Pop has a few advantages over the moderates - I really enjoyed the food court, I liked that it wasn't as spread out as the moderates and the bus service was great. I do like the double sink and fridge of the moderates though.

I have a hard enough time getting DH to Disney I could never convince him to try a split stay. He hates the packing and getting there aspect of travel-even though I do all the packing.:confused3 :rotfl:

Good luck with the resort choices. Do you children know about the trip? Would you like me to send them a "can't wait to see you" postcard from any of the characters when I'm there in May?

I finally booked my rooms today, through Disney believe it or not. I called with every intention of just booking my 3 night Room only at WL but I had a great guy working on my reservation and he saved me more on my package than AAA. We are doing 7 nights at POP, then 3 at WL. Thanks for the offer for the postcard! That's very nice! I'll send you a message with personal email. DH can't believe the odds of finding the people of the DISboards who are sitting behind us on the plane!

Have not booked airlines yet, but waiting for SWA to lower their prices a bit. Back in 2005 we got $49.00 or $59.00 each way , hoping for those rates again !:thumbsup2
Was hoping for Free Dining ,but it doesn't look too hopeful right now.:sad2:

Hi
My DD's and I are going to Pop for a "mom/daughter trip" in August too...small world! We're in MA as well and, like you, waiting on SW to lower the prices. Last August DH and I got $49 each way...not sure we'll see that again, but I'm hoping! I have about $270 in SW credits I need to use up, so this trip was a good excuse.

What dates ar you going to be there?? We're arriving on 8/23 and leaving on the 28th. I had been hoping for free dining, but if the rumors hold true, the dates won't apply to us, unfortunately

Looks like August is the time for mom/daughter vacations! That's what my daughter and I did in 2004, our trip this time includes DH & DS. I flew SW when DD and I went in 2004 and we ended up not being able to sit together. Since she was only 6 at the time and the SW attendants made no effort to accomodate us, I said I would never fly them again. We got a good rate on Jet Blue.

Well, upcoming August 6 -12 trip was supposed to be a mother and daughter trip for myself and 2 girlfriends, who will also bring their daughters. DH claims to not like Disney so much :confused3 . Anyway, the day I found my airfare I called him to let him know that the tickets were on sale and I needed to transfer the money from our savings. He responded, "Why didn't you buy me a ticket" - because you said you didn't want to go to WDW this year, its too hot in August, you want to do something else, remember. Anyway, to make a long story short it's going to be 3 Queens 3 princesses and an Ogre on this trip.:rotfl: I can't believe he weaseled his way to Disneyworld.

What do he use to save you more than AAA? We would all like to know so that we can do this as well.

Hmmm. I think I may be glad you're leaving the day before I get there. :rotfl2: An ogre at Disney just doesnt seem right!:lmao:

I know. Its not natural. I told him that if he causes trouble this year (he has in previous years) he will have h - e - double hockey sticks to pay. In 2004, he "clowned" on me. It was the end of a day and he acted like a big baby and had a full blown temper tantrum on me. He was ready to leave, and I wanted to stay for the night time parade. It was so embarrassing.

I guess I'm not on my own then :rotfl2:, I keep telling him to watch out for Snow White as she may mistake him for Grumpy

HI ....I'm not officially sure of my dates yet . I think I have them booked Aug 19-25 but I may switch them because ,I now notice SWA Flt schedule ends on Aug 24 ...so with that ,I think that if they run any specials they'll end on the 24th (not the 25 ,since that would be the 1st day of their new Flt. Schedule).
Anyways we'll overlap you by at least one day ..maybe we can meet up . What age is your dd? Mine is 11 this year...so another reason to hope for Free Dining ...she's now priced as an adult !!!:sad2:

:lmao: So So Funny :lmao: I'm happy that my husband is "Officially Done" with WDW ....he'll never go again ! He has been 3 times and that is ALL for him.
Oh Well, less money $ that I have to spend on our trips toWDW ....2nd trip down with just dd & I !!!
Can't wait :woohoo:

I have three DD's ~ ages 17, 6 and get this ~ DD9 will turn 10 two weeks before our trip:headache: Lucky me ~ I will get to pay her way as an adult now :sad2: Why did she need to be born three weeks early???? If she came when she was supposed to, I could get one more trip in with her still a "child":rotfl:

Hey, I think I found a name for my Trip Report "3 Queens 3 princesses and an Ogre". I just hope this man does not ruin this trip.

That stinks you have to pay the adult rate for a 10 year old. My DD will turn 9 while we are there this August, that's why DH wants to go this year instead of next, so we can still pay the child rate!
