Regarding trick or treat
DH cannot eat gluten. If he takes a regular bag, he can eat M&M (except those with pretzel and the like), Skittles, regular Snickers and Starbursts. He could give me whatever he cannot have. If he takes a Teal bag, will he just have to choose among the free from 14 allergens choices like Enjoy Life and Lollipops?
If someone had a similar experience, which bag do you recommend he chooses?
My son has celiac disease. When he turns in his coins at the allergy counter, they tell him what is gluten free and he tells them what he likes. (He's 21)
If you think your husband can do some from both, you could get regular bags. Then go back and get the allergy bag. They will give you bags all night if needed, this is not a problem. Go through your first trick or treat line -- you get regular candy, he gets the coin. Then he can look at your candy and decide what he wants to do...stick with regular, stick with the gluten free coins, alternate at trick or treat stops, go through the line twice, once for regular, once for gluten free. There's no limit.
There are 2 places to turn the coins in for candy -- in Liberty Square (closes at midnight) and Town Square which I think closes at 12:30. We've only been to the one in Liberty Square. I don't actually know if the candy is the same at both places. You could stop into one of these places and get a quick look at what they have to help you make your decisions.
