We are booked in a Savanna view room - only request we made was for a king bed. We have eaten and visited there many times, but this will be our first stay. A little hesitant because of the bus only transportation, but not really concerned.

Will post a review when we get back Tuesday!

Thank goodness for Disney!!! Boy do I need it!

Have fun......48 hrs from now I will be watching Spectromagic and waiting for the fireworks at the MK.....woo hoo......:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Have a good trip. I was pleased with the busses at AKL.

:D

24 hrs from now we'll be landing in Orlando and heading for the AKL. My first on property stay. :D

Hi everyone,
We are leaving TONIGHT for YC......We are having a mini meet at Beaches & Cream 9pm Sept 25...Some may not be there til about 930pm--due to Illuminations--Hope y'all get to stop by!!

MelissathePooh, have a wonderful time at the AKL. I hope your vacation is pure Disney magic. *Sigh*

To the rest of you who are also going to WDW (but staying in different resorts), I hope your vacations are filled with Pixie Dust. :D

We're back - we were in room 3262 on the Kudu Trail. We had several animals on the savannah at various time - it was really nice. We loved the room - kind bed, non smoking. We've been in the rooms before so we knew what to expect. We like the decor and thought it is a very relaxing and romantic resort.

The staff were wonderful - friendly and helpful. Completely out of character for is we lost the remote and one of our room keys somewhere in the room - I felt like we were calling every other hour that we had lost something! To top it off we left a jacket and shirt in the closet! BUT they were great and are sending it to us.

I will say that the plumbing can be a little on the loud side. Nothing woke us up, but the flushing toilets and wining pipes were noticeable when we were awake.

The pool was very nice = although crowded during the day and evening. We went early in the morning (its open 24 hours - that's a plus). Mara was fine - we grabbed a few things for breakfast twice. Jiko was excellent! We've been to Boma twice for breakfast, but skipped it this trip.

Any questions let me know!

We will be checking in on Dec. 23 for 3 nights. We have ressies for the Sunrise Safari on the 24th and then we plan to visit AK for awhile then head back to the resort. The rest of our stay will not involve park hopping. Just some rest and relaxation.

Hopefully we can get a room on the 6th floor and maybe miss the "potty thing." ;) ;) I'm glad you had a pleasant time. Now if I can just wait until Dec.

The resort seemed lively, but it wasn't crowded to any extent that we felt uncomfortable. The pool was busy during the day, but that is anywhere you go these days!

As much as I like Victoria Falls Lounge - we stopped by for a drink after dinner at Jiko and found it to be a little too loud and full for our taste. Its right above Boma - which was hopping and it was full of people waiting for tables. We still prefer Territory Lounge at WL - it just doesn't ever seem to get that busy.

As far as bus transportation goes - it was fine, but it wasn't my favorite. We never waited more than they alloted 15-20 min for a bus (except for Sat night and that was to be expected). It was random as to whether or not the bus was full or not. I will say that I felt the AKL stops at the theme parks were far away - either at the end or next to it (can't say for MGM). Our feet were pretty far gone, but we went pretty hard too.

We decided that this is a great place if you are going to stay for a weekend - go to AK and just hang around the resort. It is a bit far off to run back for an afternoon nap or swim. The only downside to it is that since it is a great weekend resort - its busy on the weekends.

But as far as it seeming dark - we felt it was more romantic and relaxing in that way. The staff was outstanding and we really don't have any complaints. I wouldn't say its one of our favorites, (we're MK people) but we thoroughly enjoyed it and would stay there again with no concerns.

My suggestion for those staying here would be to plan as much as you can without afternoon breaks - this resort is a great place to lounge around in the mornings. Spend a long morning or a long evening here - or if your feet are in better shape than mine afternoon breaks would be no problem!

Melissathepooh, what was the latest with the construction in the Savannahs? I believe it was reported that they are closing each of the 3 savannahs for 5-6 days to pave the dirt trails in each. Have they finished with any of them, or did you hear any e.t.a. when it will all be complete?

Thanks for the report on your recent trip!

We didn't think to ask about the contruction going on - we didn't notice anything though. No noise or anything like that - it wasn't a factor for where we were, but I can't answer where it would be for room requests as to what being worked on when - sorry!
