Kernits:thumbsup2 - directons please? A whole pie sopunds like a great idea - I usually do this with a 12 portion cheesecake so I'll have no problem with a key lime pie

Thabks Suz - I might even share if I'm feeling really generous!:goodvibes

I will have to look at the map again. I don't think it is more than 5 or 6 blocks from the pier.

Maybe we should bring one back for our own desert at dinner. Or late night snack for a DIS meet. :thumbsup2

So are you taking a case of water on the ship? Isn't the water on the ship safe? We could just take a few bottles in our backpacks and keep refilling them.........

Paige we drink the water on the ship too with no problems. We take a 6 pack of bottled water on with us for when we get off the ship in the islands and we just refill them at the drink station on deck 9 before getting off at the next stop because the water is nice and cold from there.

Mind you we have to find AVIS car rental to drop car and take shuttle... so that will take more time ( last time for the 4 nighter, we parked the hire car in the parking lot) 7 nights is WAY to EXPENSIVE to pay for hire car and parking.

Lindy We have used AVIS every time we've cruised and have had great service, although last Oct. there was quite a line at the airport to get the car. The AVIS drop off in the Port is easy to find from the cruise terminal. When we go to FL in June Rachel wants to go to the Ron Jon surf shop on our way from Orlando to Vero Beach so if I remember I will get detailed directions including how many miles down the road it is from the terminal to Avis and then let you know.

Heres some info on "me skipping" !!!:lmao: :lmao:

off MSN.

Homes were evacuated after parts of Kent were hit by an earthquake on Saturday. The tremor - measuring an estimated 4.3 on the Richter scale - struck just after 8.15am and people across the county reported that the ground and their properties shook and there was damage to some buildings.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service said it had taken more than a 100 emergency calls and was dealing with "several incidents". A spokesman said: "We have had calls from people saying their chimneys have fallen down, and there were large cracks in their houses."

My nieces husband is originally from Kent and his parents still live there. I'll have to give my niece a call and see if they heard anything about this. Her in-laws often come to the states around this time of the year so maybe they are even here now.

In Key West I have heard about key lime pie on a stick - anyone had this and is it good?

Anyone recomend a place to eat? Is this where the Hard Rock is? If so is it far to walk?

We're going it alone in Key West...may hire an electric car and find that southern point thingy, do a few shops and then lunch!

What are the shops like in Key West?

Oooooh, I hate being new to this cruise stuff, I usually have all the answers - all I have now is questions:rolleyes:

Karen when we were in Key West on the cruise last Oct we had Key lime pie on a stick dunked in CHOCOLATE. It was to die for!!! All 3 of us can't wait to get another one when we are there this Oct. and Al doesn't even usually like key lime pie and he too is talking about wanting to get this again. We got these at the Blonde Giraffe and I think they have a couple locations in Key West, the one we went to was right on the main street where all the shops (and bars) are.

Our kids ordered theirs March 14, March 16, March 21 and April 4th. None were received yet. Kristin was first to go for hers but her check to the passport office has not even been cashed yet. That was about 6 weeks ago.

I do passports at the USPS..... where I work
and they are now saying about 10 to 12 weeks to get a regular passport back, and about 2 weeks for the expedited ones.

Hi Cheryl hope you are well ???:)

Hi Lindy Yep all is well, just been really busy at work and then really tired afterwards and then there is the matter of having to try to fight for computer time :lmao: I have also been trying to get more walikng in now that the weather is getting nicer and that takes time away from the computer too. Today Rachel and I participated in a 8 K run (we walked more than we ran) in Madison, WI and we are planning on doing some 5k run/walks a few weekends in May too.

We use Avis exclusively now. They are much quicker in PC than Budget. I have heard bad stories with Thrifty there that we won't even try them.

What we do with Avis is go through their preferred club. It costs nothing and you can go right to the garage in MCO and to the car (can't remember if we stop at a small counter/booth in there or not, but it goes much quicker than in the airport). In port, they have your documents waiting for you and you can get in and out no problem.

Evening everyone.

I've got my headphones on (Gladiator again :thumbsup2 .) Our noisya*# neighbors are at it again. They've been out there since 3pm, and now that they're all drunker than snot, they're louder than ever. My dog's been barking at them all day, driving us absolutely freakin' insane. :headache:

Gonna finish this post, and start a new one.

Not sure where AVIS is by the port?

Jeff as a repeat cruiser I can book at 90 days out?.. 22nd July... .what time in the Uk please? Someone on another board thought at 11pm the day previous ? Ie Sat 21st???:confused3 :confused3

Palo question

Should we do Palo for brunch or afternoon tea?:confused3 The only thing I really want to try is the tiramsu and choc souflle (sp?) Ok thats 2 thing s:) I dont think these will be out for tea or brunch, but Wayne doesnt want to pack formal wear,so other meals are out. I will this cruise however ask my servers to obtain some Tiramsu for me, :) last 4 night cruise I hinted loads, but sadly we only ever got what we actually ordered from the menu. I had reas so much on here about them nipping off to get things you fancied, but this never happend for us.

Linda,

Avis is down the road about another mile or so from Budget. It will be on your left hand side in a little building. It is almost right across the street from Thrifty. So if you see their sign, look left.

As for your time to book on the 90th day, it would be whatever time you are when FL is 3:00 a.m. (2:00 a.m. here in WI). It is just past midnight on the west coast. Since you are GMT-0, and we are GMT-6, you should be at 8:00 a.m. you lucky duck. At least it is a Sunday morning for us.

Sorry to say, those deserts are only at dinner. I believe the dress code for men has been relaxed to just a tie. I don't believe the jacket is required anymore. As for Brunch or Tea, go for Brunch if you are only going for one. You can book all three when you have the chance if you want. Brunch is execellent.

Hi Tina.

Sorry about the neighbors tonight. Don't the police do anything like disorderly conduct?

B - I just watched the Plankton video. I love the HTT photo, yep there's Plankton with his arms up too! Too funny!

Jeff - I think you misunderstood me. I was wondering if anyone knows the days the Palo brunch might be scheduled for. But thanks again for refreshing us on our excursion/Palo booking dates. As we get closer, it's more and more important!

Cheryl - That Key Lime thingy with the chocolate sounds super yummy! Might have to see if I can try one of those. Where did you find that?

Getting sleepy, but no way I'd fall asleep yet with those morons outside. Might have to go play a video game or something.

Chat with you guys tomorrow.

Hi everyone. I've been lurking a little bit. Don't have much to contribute, I guess. I just came across a pic of someone "walking the plank" on the pirate encounter. It is on the DCL picture of the day thread, post #4938, page 330. My kids thought it was cool.....

Thanks Cheryl:thumbsup2 - sounds delicious

Is cruise weight difficult to lose?? On our last cruise we didn't gain anything. Chasing around a one year old on the ship was the key to that. Would anyone care to join me in the gym every day of the cruise to work off all those extra desserts I WILL be eating! Not to mention the coffees, drinks of the day, breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack....................... My stomach cannot wait until this cruise!! But my butt is screaming NO, DON'T EAT ALL THAT!

Good morning everyone. :)

Tina, I actually wrote down Cheryl's suggestion so I wouldn't forget. She got her Key Lime w/Chocolate at a place called the Blond Giraffe in Key West. I plan on being front row center for one!!

Also, remember there are two ways to skin a cat. Why not join the neighbors in EVERY party they have. Be obnoxious and bring the dog, John and the girls with all their toys. Let the girls run wild through the party and be sure you are even louder and talk about nothing besides the kids. Talk about poopy diapers, snotty noses, teething, and (sorry guys....) breastfeeding!! Be sure to bring up how women have wings!!:rotfl2: I believe your party problems will be over in no time at all! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Just a thought.:hippie:
