**October 2016 Check-in!**

WestMom2Two ... we were planning on avoiding October because of the Halloween parties, and start going back 2 weeks after Labor Day, BUT ... that $156 round-trip ticket price, Chicago to SNA, how could we not book it??? Unfortunately, those tix were available on American for only a few random days and it was on a whim back in February after our last trip ... I was at work freezing my rear off being back in Chicagoland, and I just thought, I wonder what ticket prices are to SNA/LAX for September. Looked it up, and the AA site showed if we could be flexible with going a few weeks later, price dropped in half. We lucked out & were able to match up dates to when it would be feasible to go. For 4 people, we're flying to Southern California, from Chicago, on American Airlines for $625, fees included. LAX was still $350/pp We're usually thrilled with $310/pp. This is one of those rare times where airfare TOTALLY dictated when we would vacation this fall :-)

*sigh* A complete & total first-world problem and we'll suck it up, and at times I do feel really stupid complaining about it, but I think a lot of you understand. When it comes to messing with my DLR plans, my mind doesn't always think rationally!

We will be at the Candy Cane from the 17th -21st. Right now we have 5 day park hoppers and are getting tickets for the party on Wednesday night. We are thinking of maybe dropping one park day to do a day at Universal. We will have to see if I can fit that in to the budget first. It is just me and hubby but we I am so excited to go. We went to DW in January and decided we needed just a bit more Disney. :) Hubby is a bit hesitant because he has fallen in love with DW. I just keep telling him to go with an open mind. we haven't been to DL since 98 so he doesn't remember it and there was no Cali park then.
IMO going to universal hollywood would make him want to go to dw more.

I haven't been to the one in Orlando. Actually we were saving up for a trip to the orlando US specifically for wizarding world and diagon ally when they announced that it was coming to LA-then we went when it was in soft open since we couldn't wait any longer lol.

It was awesome. little touches and magic everywhere-even in the bathroom. and the people (I say people here and not kids since 70 percent were adults) running around using their wands and heckling each other about their swish and flick abilities and magical failings. The resturants with the themed food. There service was amazing at every turn and the cast members stayed in perfect character and chatted to us about our silly muggle world inventions and how muggle school is different. The experience was magic. If all of US were as perfect and immersive as WWHP and if its size and variety could compare to disneyland I might just make that my go-to park.

However the LA US doesn't yet have diagon alley and the whole thing is still only 1 park and that 1 park is smaller than disneyland alone.

Making our First trip to Disneyland October 13-15, Just my Daughter (10) and I. Right after spending some time in Aulani. I am more than excited. I live by Disney World and have gone numerous times. Excited for something new!

Still debating on going to MNSSHP. We usually do it here. If we do go, considering I'm 4'9" and my daughter is only an inch shorter, I'm hoping to be adorable set of Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum.

Just a tiny distinction, at Disneyland it's just called "Mickey's Halloween Party" (MHP). Not a huge issue until you go to buy tickets, you want to make sure you get the correct ones!

I did MHP last year and we had a blast! Seeing all the characters in their costumes was so cute and seeing all the Villains do their "goodnight" in front of the train station was SO cool. Plus short ride lines and just a great overall atmosphere in the park. :D

Y'all I am finally starting to get so excited, but yet I am soooo super annoyed right now, lol. I am a DW vet, and I am so use to planning 180 days out, this wait is KILLING me. They haven't even released the park hours yet, and we're trying to plan a day for universal as well, but since I don't know the park hours I don't know what day to plan for what.... And we wanna do a dessert party, and I can't book it yet. (Insert screaming 3 year old throwing a temper tantrum here, lol). Thanks for letting me vent!

Hi everyone! We are headed to Disneyland Oct 20-25th. We couldn't pass up a great deal on airline tickets on southwest, so we are coming back sooner than I thought we would! Now to figure out how to plan around MHP (I think we have decided to skip the party because of the cost of the tickets) and start think about any dining reservations we want to make, etc.

We plan to stay either at HoJo or PVI, but will likely go back to PVI because it is so close to the entrance and they have a decent breakfast.

OMG I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. Daw vet, use to planning everything out super early and I am dying without park hours to decide what I all plan to do, it's killing me. I looked for park hours yesterday and was more than annoyed when it stopped at the beginning of September!

Minerva and iheartjily - It will be OK! I get your frustrations......I am waiting on hours to plan some more details as well. But that is one reason DLR is so very great......reservations are easier to come by and your overall schedule does not need to be as jam packed as a WDW trip. But definitely, we will all rejoice when October hours are out! :maleficen

ok guys, i just got back from a 10 day vacation, and I had no wifi so, i've got a lot of catching up to do. I will try to update our group listing in the next couple days. I'm so happy I came home to party ticket availability!! Our group of 8 all bought MHP party tickets today over the phone for Friday the 21st. We were all told separately that our day was selling out very quickly, so I'm glad we could all purchase the tickets. I CANT WAIT! Our Disneyland group chat has been busy discussing group costume possibilities.....so fun :) 79 days until we go to Disney!

The story came directly from the staff, which told me to bring my own cleaning supplies. You get light touch-up every day, but no actual cleaning of the kitchen, living room, bedrooms/bathrooms- that's once-per week. It's probably more of a problem if you have a large party.
Did you find the beds to be comfortable? I heard one complaint about the beds being too stiff.

Yep, the beds are comfortable at the Staybridge. The mattresses can sometimes be quite new which means that they can be a little stiff, but as for support of your entire body whilst in the bed it is top-notch. Hope this helps.

My DGD8 and I will be there from September 29th - October 3rd. We're hoping to get tickets to a Halloween party - it will be our first!

We've added a day so we'll be there from September 28th through October 3rd now, staying at the PPH. We have Halloween Party tickets for Friday, September30th - our first party! My granddaughter and I are going lo-fi on our costumes... we're dressing up as a suitcase and a dream. :)

Add 40 bucks and make your suitcase from cardboard and you'll be all that walt had when he came to California. perfect costume for halloween with the mouse.

I just got off the phone with Disney dining... kind of a bummer. Apparently, a lot of things are being discontinued. We were planning on doing the Frozen pre-show package and the World of Color Dessert Party on October 1, but they're both being cancelled. :(

Really?! I would have thought these would be hugely popular (aka major money makers for Disney). I'd call back in a few weeks to see for sure...unless I'm totally out of the loop and it's common knowledge these packages are being cancelled?!

We just cancelled our Oct 22nd trip. The main reason we were going at that time was for the halloween party but we decided the etrat $600 (Canadian) wasn't worth it
