**October 2016 Check-in!**

I just bought my Halloween Party ticket for 10/21. I will be arriving that day and leaving on 10/23. Hotel yet to be determined. LOL (I am trying to be friendly to my budget, but not gonna lie, it's hard when you are used to staying on property. LOL)

Halloween Party tickets have been bought!

My son is getting this trip as a birthday surprise (and his birthday is the day after tomorrow), so glad to have that confirmed before the big reveal.

Oh dear. I think we're the ONLY ones who really dislike being anywhere near DL on a MHP day. Even our kids dislike it. We were scheduled (mainly due to finding $156 R-T tix from Chicago to SNA) for DLR Oct 5-7. I will admit we are VERY fortunate that we get to visit at least twice a year for at least 3 days each trip. We're thinking we'll only do 1 day at the parks, Thu Oct 6, and head to Knotts or Universal the other days. The last MHP trip, we got caught up in Fantasyland, trying to exit to DCA when DL was shut down for MHP, it took a ridiculous amount of time to leave the park, there were so many people, just absolutely crushing each other - non-MHP guests trying to exit and MHP guests entering. We switched our May trips to February so we could skip Grad nights too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't DCA then stay open until midnight on the MHP nights?? So, in theory, if we decide to end our trip at DL, we'd have 8am-7pm at DL, then 7-midnight at DCA? I think most Fridays during Halloween were 8am-midnight.

I'm bummed, but we'll be back in February.

We will be doing one full day in each park, and no HP at this point. I've never loved any of Disney's parties enough to pay extra again, and would rather enjoy that time with a nice leisurely dinner in one of the hotels.

I am starting to get terrified about crowds, especially because I just got back from WDW in the thick of the summer (July 7-10), and as has been widely reported, crowds were super low. But it seems like DL just before Halloween is guaranteed to be super busy!

The MHP Friday I experienced last year DCA was open until midnight, but who knows if that will stay the same this year. You could also try non-park hopper tickets and do Thursday in DL and Friday in DCA to avoid the parties that way?

We experienced that at our first party too. Then I came up with a new game plan. Sleep in that morning (no cranky kids needing to put to bed early when I spent a fortune on party tickets), do DCA until our lunch break. Then enter DL at 2 (before the party only guests can get in and cause a traffic jam/stampede of doom) and head directly to toon town/back of the park and stay away from the bottle necks and main street until after the party has begun.

Anyone else planning on Disneybounding?

I've got a Minnie outfit ready (Walmart had a red polkadot tank a few weeks for like $8, so that helped, and then found yellow keds for $2).

I'm still deciding on others. I'd love to hear what others are planning!

great find! I will be dabbling a bit but I am going to try to wear only stuff I already have. I'm going shopping this weekend for a few new item to wear to work and I may be looking at clothes with the eye of a disney fan.

Just called and bought our Halloween party tickets this morning for 10/12! Last piece of the puzzle for our trip. I can't wait for all our tickets and trip info to start rolling in to our mailbox! :love:80 day's!

My ticket for the party is in DH's hand! Thrilled! I've been doing the happy dance all morning since he sent me a picture.

We will be at the Candy Cane from the 17th -21st. Right now we have 5 day park hoppers and are getting tickets for the party on Wednesday night. We are thinking of maybe dropping one park day to do a day at Universal. We will have to see if I can fit that in to the budget first. It is just me and hubby but we I am so excited to go. We went to DW in January and decided we needed just a bit more Disney. :) Hubby is a bit hesitant because he has fallen in love with DW. I just keep telling him to go with an open mind. we haven't been to DL since 98 so he doesn't remember it and there was no Cali park then.

 Sounds like you need to avoid October altogether...

I'm working on a Minnie Mouse too (yellow tennis shoes, Minnie ears & a red romper with white polka dots & a pair of lace edged white bike shorts underneath) & a Peter Pan (because I love my green knee length dress so much & I am a redhead). Still nailing down all the details on both. I will probably wear these on my two party days instead of full fledged costumes, as I'd prefer to be at the park well before the party entry time to avoid all of the bottlenecks I remember from last year when I left the park an hour or so before official party start time.

I'm planning a solo trip for end of October (my first solo trip). Oct 28-Nov 2... Was going to do one MHP on the 29th or 31st but now am thinking about forgoing the day I was going to spend at Universal and doing both parties. I've been to Universal Orlando 3 times in the last 4 years so I'm thinking there's not a lot that is worth it for me to spend the money taking a bus from my Anaheim hotel to Universal and the cost of admission. Is there anyone who's been to a MHP Halloween weekend and/or Halloween night? are they much busier than earlier in the season? Any thoughts on attending parties solo? I am thinking of trying to pull together a Karen from Watcher in the Woods costume (yay for random 80s Disney 'Horror' movie)

so many comments to make here...

I was at a halloween party the night before halloween about 5-6 years ago and I have been at mid-october midweek parties. They were all sold out (nearly every party sells out) I didn't notice a difference in crowd size. sold out is sold out I guess. I did notice a difference in the type of crowd though. The night before halloween, which was a saturday also, had a lot more adults without kids. It had a more adult feel than the mid october parties that I felt like were nearly all families.

Going solo-I haven't done it but it sounds fun and like a much easier way to get more things done. My son always want to spend so much time on the treat trails but I always want to do all the specialty stuff. going solo with no kids slowing you down sounds great.

I remember watcher in the woods! It was my first scary movie and I probably watched it 20 times. What a fun costume.
