Oh, I'd be willing to bet the uncreative genius that gave us this masterpiece is still using Paint......and lovin' it.

Boy, that is the worst patch picture I've ever seen. That couldn't even fool Stevie Wonder. I'm surprised who ever did it didn't go a step further and put Jane Fonda in it.

Too bad all those artistic types are evil liberals.

Dailykos Blogger: BREAKING: Source of deceptive NC robo-calls exposed

Edited on Wed Apr-30-08 04:27 PM by Bigleaf
Facing South has confirmed the source of the calls, and the mastermind is Women's Voices Women Vote, a D.C.-based nonprofit which aims to boost voting among "unmarried women voters."

What's more, Facing South has learned that the firestorm Women's Voices has ignited in North Carolina isn't the group's first brush with controversy. Women's Voices' questionable tactics have spawned thousands of voter complaints in at least 11 states and brought harsh condemnation from some election officials for their secrecy, misleading nature and likely violations of election law.

Yesterday, I placed a call to the Virginia State Police, which had investigated similar suspicious robo-calls before that Virginia's primaries last February. Their investigation concluded that the source of the calls was Women's Voices Women Vote.

Facing South then contacted Women's Voices, and staffer Sarah Johnson confirmed they were doing similar robo-calls in North Carolina; they later admitted that they were the ones behind the deceptive "Lamont Williams" calls.

Women's Voices Executive Director Joe Goode worked for Bill Clinton's election campaign in 1992 as a pollster; the group's website says he was intimately involved in "development and implementation of all polling and focus groups done for the presidential primary and general election campaigns" for Clinton.

Some have also questioned the ties between Women's Voices operatives and Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Clinton. Gardner, for example, contributed $2,500 to Clinton's HILLPAC on May 4, 2006, and in March 2005 she donated a total of $4,200 to Clinton, according to The Center for Responsive Politics' OpenSecrets.org. She has not contributed to the Obama campaign, according to the database.

I really hate this kind of politics. This won't bother Clinton's supporters, unfortunately. They'll just say, "Hey, politics is tough. We love how she and her operatives fight."

Yup, the only votes counted she wants are the ones for her, if she (or maybe it was Bill) can derail voters based on demographics & get herself the prize, good for her, gotta say, these calls have been effective since they started...

That's makes a second good thing about Hillary: If she's the nominee, she'll raise the bar for junkyard dogs. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy than McCain.

This is part of the reason I support Obama, he isn't afraid to go against something that on the surface seems like a good idea. He is looking long term whereas McShame and HRC are going on the "if it feels good, (and makes me look good) let do it," politics. Real solutions are rarely easy or fun.

And frequently require a level of sacrifice from the majority of the public.

Well, it just got a bit better :rolleyes1 Additional information coming out...

Maggie Williams is not mentioned in the DailyKos reference, but a web search reveals the following:

Chief of staff to former president Bill Clinton the Clinton Foundation in New York City, served in The White House as an assistant to President Clinton in 93-97, and also served as chief of staff to First Lady Hillary Clinton. Williams currently serves as Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign Manager.

Women Vote Williams bio and background

John Podesta, Bill Clinton's former Chief of Staff, also serves on the board of the group behind the NC robo-calls: Podesta

Women's Vote has attempted to remove all references to Maggie Williams from their website, but the now defunct info was captured and archived on July 8, 2007:

http://web.archive.org/web/20070706100052/http://www.wvwv.org/aboutwvwv/index.cfm?id=3

Williams "is a partner in GriffinWilliams LLC, a management consulting firm that helps public and private sector clients navigate transitions and respond to political challenges", and Pat Griffin, her business partner and other half of Griffen Williams, also serves on the leadership team of Women's Voices.

Long-time associate, paid staff member of both Clinton's, and now Campaign Manager for Hillary Clinton, and board member of the group making robo-calls in NC to deliberately quash the vote... coincidence?

Great work finding this information!
Very revealing, and you have to wonder, sometimes if some of those folks are lacking a conscience. Deliberately misleading registered voters by using sneaky robo-calls is a nauseating tactic.

Interesting, but the archived reference in the link above has vanished.

So glad to see these sterling character traits in people so close to HRC and Bill.

No, you don't wonder if they have no conscience, you KNOW they have none.....

Oh, on the positive news off Politico, picked up a third delegate today:

Rep. Capps to endorse Obama
By: Ben Smith
April 30, 2008 01:19 PM EST

A California congresswoman with long ties to both Clintons will announce her endorsement of Barack Obama today, a campaign source said.

Rep. Lois Capps, who represents a district on California’s central coast, is the third member of Congress to announce an endorsement of Senator Obama Wednesday, the day after he responded sharply to one of the deepest crises of his campaign, a confrontational and, he said, “appalling” set of remarks by his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright. The campaign is using the flurry of endorsements to shore up political support and demonstrate the frontrunner’s continuing strength.

“Barack Obama is the better choice because of something larger and perhaps more important. Simply put, he has made a call to the better angels of our nature. He is challenging us to lift ourselves out of the ugliness that increasingly consumes Washington, where the heat of your argument counts for more than the light it should bring,” Capps said in a statement. “He is asking us to stand together as Americans and transcend the traditional lines that have so often divided us by party affiliation, economic status, gender, or race.”

In her statement, Capps praised Clinton, but also suggested she’d been pushed to Obama by negative aspects of the campaign.

(snip)

Capps has long been close to both Clintons, who supported and raised money for her late husband, Rep. Walter Capps, and then for her in a campaign for what was then a contested seat.

Bill Clinton also spoke at the memorial service for her late husband, Rep. Walter Capps, whom the then-president described as “entirely too nice to be in Congress."

Capps’ daughter, Laura Burton Capps, also worked in the Clinton White House starting in 1995, first as an assistant to Clinton advisor George Stephanopolous and then as a speechwriter.

We have 2 more SDs today, besides Representative Capps from CA.

Iowa Rep. Bruce Braley

Indiana Rep. Baron Hill

Three more Superdelegates towards the goal!

Thanks, Chris, for the link. I laughed at this question and response on the FAQ:

Q. Does Women's Voices. Women Vote. support specific candidates?

Women's Voices. Women Vote. is a nonpartisan organization that seeks to mobilize all unmarried women to register to vote and to go to the polls on Election Day. We do not endorse any particular candidates. We'd rather have you make those choices instead - at the ballot box.

We do not endorse any particular candidates. :lmao: Of course, they don't. And they don't use questionable or illegal tactics either--except when campaigns involve one Hillary Clinton.

Umm, yeh, that  , well.... what we really meant to say is, we really just support one candidate more than any other and to that end we will deter anyone who doesn't fit our demographic :rolleyes1
