I FINALLY got to see Top Gun! I. LOVED. IT!!!
Yep, as others have said, it has the right amount of nostalgia and music from the old movie, yet moved the story along, so that it is a stand-alone movie, for those who didn't see the original.
I could have done with a little more music, but what was there was great. I think Lady Gaga's song was just okay. I actually have had the Top Gun theme in my head all morning. Yet, that's the way it should be, not Gaga's song. So, it works for what it is.
I'd love to see the move again. But, I think I missed the window at the theatre I want to see it in. It has super 4-K, beyond high-def screens with a spectacular sound system. I can see the pores on people's faces. The graphics and the sounds of this movie are incredible. I purposely waited to see my first movie back from the pandemic, and THIS movie in particular, at THIS theatre. And unfortunately, I think it's leaving next weekend, and I won't get a chance to see it again during the week.
Kudos to Tom Cruise & his production company for making a nice, tight story line. I loved how Iceman/Val Kilmer were elegantly folded into the story, both the character, and specifically utilizing Val's own illness.

A definite, must see
twice movie as there is so much going on.
