OK - I think this is a pun on the thread that was originally on Trip Reports and was moved. Someone felt they were inappropriately touched by Chip or Dale and was filing a civil suit against Disney. It is a hot and touchy thread. I should have saved a link to it. I will see if I can find it again.

jgates......I did not see that. I wondered why Montessori said it was "humorous". Thanks for letting me know. Not sure what I think of all of that mess.

Yeah - It's hard to say when we weren't there. My most exciting inappropriate moment was when one of the town car drivers at the Courtyard DTD asked me out on a date in 2000. I should have taken him up on it.....we probably would have gotten door to park service without waiting for their awful busses! (When you are pushing 40, it can be awfully flattering!!! - Now that I am on the other side of 40 I would consider a proposition a heaven sent gift :p :p :p :p :p )

It is actually from a site that let's you customize a fake news article to a friends name (in this case John Doe was the variable). So whether it was a poke at the other post or whether the picture just struck her funny with the story we'll have to ask her. But no one is beating up Mickey Mouse......

;)

Dreamflight ~ Welcome back home from the beach. The coffee maker looks fantastic :) I also love the popcorn maker ::yes::

Have a quick peek at my countdown clock with me :hyper:

Waving to the room

Thank you, we had a lovely time, Debbie! ::yes:: The weather was astonishing...warm & sunny...with the fresh scent of sea air and the sounds of the ocean. :sunny:

The Capresso coffee center makes a cup of coffee which is absolutely "OUT OF THIS WORLD" (mmmm). I use Starbucks Dark roast beans, which this machine freshly grinds, tamps and discards internally with each cup! I'm just fascinated with this piece of technology. I've also learned expresso is NOT a type of bean, it is all in the PROCESSING of the bean. I am in LOVE....with this little Jura Impressa (LOL).

The Popcorn machine is more than a novelty as well, and we ALL love it!!

You're welcome to stop by anytime for a FRESHLY-BREWED cup of java (bring your SDS mug!), and a bowl of some FRESHLY-POPPED corn! :goodvibes

*We may visit DL again this weekend, leaving Friday. Since we have the AP's...we always have good cause! (And...because we are so darned close!!).

Ozzie & J~ Thanks for the links! Wow...how sad someone feels a character actually "intentionally" attempted to insult, molest, grope, or otherwise attack them in some way. I just have never seen anything even close. Many times, they have "goofed" around with me and my family. I recall in 1998 when Pluto was in MGM, and he made motions with his paws to "clear the area" as DD approached. He got down on one knee...and professed his love (using signals and dramatics) and kissed her hand. He tapped his paws over his heart, and pretended to faint. He then kept on with the game, and followed us...in a funny "stalking" charade. When we would stop and look, he would pretend he was looking at the sky or the ground (in a very overly-exaggerated and emphasized manner). It was HILARIOUS! We would have never thought for one moment to protest or find deviousness in such behavior. For all we know...it was a young girl in the suit just having fun (as PLUTO). It was the cutest thing, and DD recalls it with fondness.

I sometimes grab the characters and give them a squeeze...and LOVE it when they make the "kissing" sound when I go to kiss them goodbye. I believe they are accosted MUCH MORE by the public...than the other way around. It's a tough job, taking on the lovable ways of these animated animals. They are always expected to be "UP" and act a certain way. I KNOW it can be tiring and also frustrating, when they have to deal (constantly) with the RUDE and ABRASIVE behavior of many of the children/parents waiting in lines/crowds to GREET them.

If they have ever touched me in an area which is deemed inappropriate, it has been purely accidentally. The suits are large, bulky, and oversized, providing minimal vision. With the playful movements they make...accidents are bound to happen. But, it is plainly what they are "ACCIDENTS." Unintentional acts. I would HATE the thought of these characters ever being "pulled" from their duties because a FEW of the public found them to be a nuisance/disturbing/malicious. They provide SO much joy to the guests, and are especially kind to anyone handicapped or otherwise obviously physically/mentally challenged. These encounters have brought tears to my eyes, as I watch the exchange between the child/person and the character. But all of this could disappear, if guests began complaining too often.

This has actually happened in the past, as the double-decker busses which used to drive around Epcot...ceased to exist. All due to lawsuits by folks saying they were "bumped" or "hit" by the bus. Someone even sued Disney because one of the bulbs on the parade (Spectromagic) broke as it passed and "scared" her and her family. Disney offered a settlement and a free vacation. Good Lord....there is NO LIMIT/SHAME in some folks.

Enjoy the week~!

The OP of the problems with Chip & Dale could have used this frame to showcase the picture:

Where is everyone?

Dreamflight, thanks for keeping us up to date on what's up with you! Major kudos on your fine java maker! I am particularly fond of quality cafe, with an especial weakness for Columbian thanks to our fine folks at Disney! (That is what they serve and I am partial, as you know!)

Sorority members: I will be posting more sorority meet info on the Sigma Delta Thread. I have some ideas for souvenirs and need to run them by you. (Yes, Loubon... MORE STUFF!) :p

Let's see what can we come up with? :hyper:

Pin lanyards, water bottle lanyards, coozies, visors, shirts...
I see: Waterford glasses etched with our logo (for the Chardonnay, of course!)....belt buckles, antenna toppers, sterling silver money clips, leg pullers.....! ;)

Seriously, though, we need to have a training class for DF so she can resize her photos so the rest ofus can post on the page!! ;)

OK there must be something I can say to keep us on topic so they don't move us over to (Gasp!!!) the COMMUNITY BOARD!!!:p :p

OK - I am considering purchasing the following for my laptop:
1. A wireless card to stay in the slot all the time.
2. A USB plug in card for the ethernet cord hotel connections.

Think that should cover me for nearly any hotel situation including the Swan?

Jgates~there was a SMALLER photo for the popcorn pic...but it lacked the REALISM!! :rotfl: So...I went ahead with the GIANT one for laughs! Don't shoot the messenger...just the message (photo!). :teeth:

***Disbug~~As for the souvies...they sound GREAT (As ALWAYS Denise)! I'll have to stop over to your thread and take a peek. You're always welcome to stop by my home anytime (Mi Casa et Su Casa) for a cup of JAVA! ::yes:: Lucky you...as you have LOU to assist you with all the techie stuff (for the logo items). He is an invaluable asset...amazingly talented!

***I made some more ressies for FRIENDS at the Swan and Dolphin today! I'm becoming a veritable TRAVEL AGENT for all friends/acquaintances in my circle. They "gift" me with little things (certificates, treasures), as opposed to paying for my services. It's a pleasure to help them, as I do everyone whom asks about these fabulous properties. I actually get such a charge out of putting it all together for them, and then handing them the packet. It's become another hobby, of sorts. The word is OUT. ::yes::

***I'm looking forward to our summer sojourn in the midst of winter, and beginning the CAR RENTAL phase. It consumes considerable time and energy searching for the best available price, location and vehicle. Another vacation CHALLENGE~! But, it keeps my mind moving forward...to WDW & the DOLPHIN! As if the photos plastered around this computer are not enough...LOL!

:wave2: I'm here, disbug!

My real life, particularly school, has been sooo busy that my time to post has been curtailed. :( To add to that, DS(20)'s laptop is down. He is still on semester break, so he hogs the family computer! :teeth:

Btw, DF, he really loved his Cali trip. He didn't get to DL but did SeaWorld, the SD Zoo, Universal, NBC Studios Tour, Coronado Island, Hollywood stars sidewalk. He met Jay Leno, Ben Stiller and LeeAnn Rimes on the NBC tour. He had beautiful weather - wore shorts almost every day. He truly fell in love with southern California. His only negative was driving - he found the streets and freeways a challenge!

On topic: (I agree with jgates and don't want to get moved to the CB) --- if I am able to make the SDS meet, I would most likely stay at the Swan. I truly loved the smaller atmosphere of the Swan.

Off to start the school day!

it is beginning to look like our Spring Break trip is officially ON, even if airfare doesn't work out. we'll just drive instead. YAY! I have a few more kinks in my plan, but I think we'll be all set for the end of March (thanks DF :) ) . I have realistic expectations, I expect some crowds...but manageable. I hope I'm right.

March and June like our two WDW trips for the year. I'll miss WDW in the fall, but looking forward to a beach vacation this fall! We love Hilton Head Island so much, it will be nice to get back there after a few years.

check out the countdown

I know I haven't posted here in ages, but I do read this thread. It's just so hard to keep up with you folks!

I was at the Swan the week after Thanksgiving for a wonderful 8-night stay in one of the studios. I LOVED my room, with it's wonderful views of the Dolphin from the 2 front-facing windows, and the walkway to the Boardwalk from the 2 side windows and balcony. Now I'm spoiled with the views and the extra space! I'll return to the Swan for 1 night in late Feb. and 1 night in late April. I wish it were longer, but 1 night each time is better than none at all!

 Tell him he's in GREAT company on that one! My DM (True Bostonian) nearly had a heart attack as I maneuvered the Freeways after picking her up at LAX. She drives about 15-25 MPH in the quaint NE village they now reside in (upstate NY). So, the lightning lane changes w/o any signals, and the bumper-to-bumper driving truly "frazzled" her nerves. :crazy2: She much prefers LIFE, including DRIVING...on the Slow side. ::yes::

Here in CA...the folks are "laid-back", but the roadways are a MESS~! :hyper: We lack Public Transportation...and no one ever drives in the special "commuter" lanes we have for car-pooling, as in So. Cali...everyone wants their OWN car! It's a hoot.

*I pm'd you in regards to a "school" matter. ;) So glad you explained your absence here...I was beginning to worry. ^_^

NancyIL~~So HAPPY to hear from you! :goodvibes I've missed you, and often wondered how/what you were doing? I'm tickled to read you still frequent WDW & the SWAN (your FAV). I wish you and your family all the best. You are ALWAYS welcome here...and considered a *special member* of our SIGMA DELTA SORORITY. Take care, and stop by more often (if you are able!).

it's sold out 14-17 :( I've been trying for those dates, too.

my computer room...... and its cold and snowy! (well, not the room, but you know what I am getting at!)

We had a FABULOUS TIME! Neither one of us wanted to leave. I can attest to the fact that numerous bonding occured, memories were made, and that Disney magic is a powerful thing, indeed!

in short....
The sunrise safari was awesome! We had first row seats on the ledge at Pecos Bills for Spectro! Had the room next to my November room... right on the end... it was OUR savannah once again! We ate and ate and ate....favorite meal was at Brown Derby. The amarula cordial at the concierge lounge was fantastic; I am now trying to track down a bottle. Rode everything we wanted to, more than once! Finally arrived at opening at MK.... too cool! Bought too many souveniers, but still wish I had purchased a few other things. and.... we are one page from filling the entire autograph book!
I will take questions!

btw... I am missing a hockey stick... has anyone seen it around? LOL

*waving to my sorority sisters and honorary brothers*
Happy late birthday ZW!
Debbie

Loubon took it......................:p :p :p

Welcome back.

On topic............Hmmmmm.....I told someone in another thread that Swan renovations were complete and Dolphin was progressing very nicely. Was that accurate information?
