DVC Direct Nov 25 Sales

The hardest purchase to watch I ever saw was during the Grand Flo fire sale. One of the resale bloggers invited a family to their Youtube show to discuss the family’s ‘legacy’ VGF resale purchase for hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Sometimes people are unaware of the resale market, but the flipside is other people who get caught in the mantra that resale is a no-brainer against direct pricing.

Buying enough points for all the kids and grandkids to continue on the grandparents’ tradition of annual Grand Flo visits, and they all could have had unrestricted blue card points instead for the same cost at that point in time.

And membership extras and where points can be used are two different aspects of direct.

I know some tend to think of only those 150 for DVC Y…but points direct are valid everywhere and resale are only O14…unless they are at RIv, VDH, and CFW.

For some, that is worth it to go direct outside of the the membership extras piece.

Take PVB points…yea, they get you the same home resort if you go resale but you don’t get the same use as direct when it comes to trading.

And, if trading is important beyond what is current part of O14, then direct is giving you more.

I tried restricted BLT…and sold a year later because it didn’t turn out to be a better option for us.

Of course not. That's why I called it a "quibble."
Yeah and direct at BCV right now would get any UY with 17 years of points left. They’d all start with 2025 allotment and end with 2041 allotment, so 17x300pts (5,100pts). Doesn’t make a huge difference in the grand scheme but still a decent amount of time left.

I believe they do. What I don’t know is if they still have to record them when it’s financed directly via DVD.
I found the deed, but I did not find a mortgage with the buyers name.

I hope they work the heck out of their discounted annual passes, food and merch discounts, lounge access, and moonlight magic events for the next 16 years….

I purchased an additional 175 BWV non-stripped points this year with a weighted average of around $108-ish, so I’m all about the Crescent Lake area… it’s just the direct price of $275pp without any incentives.

I just ran the DVC Resale est. value for an 300pt BW contract with full points and it came back with $145pp. Fidelity resale way $135pp. (

BTW… very interesting that resale prices are higher this year than they were a year ago…

"17 years of points left"...at this point it's actually 15 years and one month.
I've looked at owning BCV many times--mostly for the pool--but I can't pull the trigger with only 15 years left and with BLT and CCV (both with many decades left) costing about the same and having similar dues.

On one hand, I don't like it, as I would like to pick up one or two more contracts eventually. But on the other, I now have resale contracts, bought a while ago, that are worth about 40% more than I paid with them and I've been using the points for years.

Sigh. I know I'm old and learned arithmetic back in the olden days when we had to memorize addition and subtraction tables, but please stop shortening my ownership! From January 31, 2026 to January 31, 2042 is 16 years, not 15. IOW, I still have 16 years and one month to enjoy my BWV ownership!

And @Genie+ was calculating the number of UY of points remaining in a direct contract purchased now, not the number of calendar years, so they were including 2025 UY points, making the total 17 UY's worth of points.

For direct everybody still gets 2025 points no matter the UY. So you get 17 years:

1. 2025
2. 2026
3. 2027
4. 2028
5. 2029
6. 2030
7. 2031
8. 2032
9. 2033
10. 2034
11. 2035
12. 2036
13. 2037
14. 2038
15. 2039
16. 2040
17. 2041

Related to this is something interesting: For totally new DVC resorts like RIV, VDH and CFW, the first buyers can get as many as 51 years of points. It depends how early they bought and what UY, but was possible and many did get the 51 years.

Yearly allotments of points to be more specific.

You get 17 years of points but not 17 years to use them.

It’s just over 16…but, plenty of time

We’ll see how those October and December UYs fare….especially if they limit borrowing….

I have a Sept UY on a 2042 and my plan is to borrow as points as possible lol. But yeah, that’s going to pose a problem for the system. Everybody’s gonna wanna do the same, this way if you need to reschedule there’s still time. So DVC may very well limit it.

Maybe DVD will start offering those 2042 owners a way to trade the last points on these contracts for a shiny new contract? That might ease some of the tension… and increase sales. In 2040 I can see Haunted Mansion DVC resort opening up for $325pp but if you trade in your 2042 you can get up to $50 off per point 😂

More like $15 off pp, lol

I would def sell a contract for a walking distance epcot resort with many years on it. Im hoping that will be bwv after 2042! Is there potentially room to put another hotel there if they wanted to? Im thinking no. Could they get rid of swan and dolphin lol
