I think I am going to S-C-R-E-A-M::yes::

Last night, I found out that the school system is pushing back the week that starts the Fall break. In the past it has been the last week of September and the first week of October. According to my calculations, it should start on September 25...that's what I based my AP purchase on last year. I planned to get 2 large and one small trip out of the passes before they expire and before my youngest turns 3 on Oct 1.

This years fall break starts on October 4th

I am not a happy camper.

Rooms are booked at SoG and the Dolphin, and now need to be cancelled.

Now I am scrambling to book a trip for 24-30 March. Spring break isn't ideal, but it's better than nothing :)

SoG is full, and the Dolphin has no government rates.

I also have the pressure of booking the flight on SWA, because I have credit that expires on June 12.

ugh.

I know it's just a vacation, it's not the end of the world....but, geez!

One other question.....how far is the Sanford airport from WDW? Is it commutable? DH has training near there in June, and if it's possible he'd lke to just drive to the training from WDW.

Madge,

How old are your kids? Teachers out there, don't be mad at me, but could you just pull the kids out?

If they are still in grammar school, I can't imagine the huge harm in missing five days of school. (again, no one out there flame me)

If you can't pull them out, I share your pain. That is a major bummer.

my oldest will be a freshman in HS this fall

because of the 3 2-week breaks in our schedule, taking kids out for vacation is an unexcused absence, especially the week before said break, KWIM?

thanks for the good thoughts, we'll make the best of it, one way or another.

I need to call the Dolphin and see if they will transfer my reservation and leave my rate intact :::crossed fingers::::

Fine - I'll nominate myself for Vice-President. Someone has to keep you corrupt people in order. I leave you for a couple of days and you let this thread slip to page 2!!!! Next thing you know there will be pages of missing threads - Disbug/aka/Nixon!!!

My understanding was that Sanford was about 45 minutes in good driving times. I would check the transporation board for sure. There - enough on topic stuff.

DH passed his physical!!! They have been running at a 50% pass rate and in the group of 22 the day before only 8 passed. Out of 7 that retested from that group today only 2 made it. So their standards are set pretty high. DH (aged 43 1/2) ran the fastest time in the 1 1/2 mile run of any of them (starting at around age 19 or so).

DD was in our district Geography Bee today - 22 kids total from 3 schools. She DID NOT want to participate. Said she was not good at geo. We knew this was because here DB placed 3rd, then 2nd the 2 years he did it (9 or 10 years ago)- she didn't feel she could match him. We were still on our way home from testing so we couldn't go. Her DB sent me a text message (love those!) at the end of each round - last message was 'After Round 5 - 3 left). Then the phone rang about 15 minutes later - SHE WON!!! She was a happy camper!!! I was really glad I picked her up some AmGirl outfits at their outlet store for a treat!!

Hi dis friends :)

I know the jr. suites do not have balconies at the Dolphin but do the executive suites have them ???

Our trip is on the horizon and I am trying to pin down our last priority seatings. We are always wanting to try something new, but its hard to leave out the favorites. :) I let each child pick a restaurant they either want to go to for the first time or an old favorite.

I hope everyone has a great weekend, Waving to the room :wave2

I pick the '50s Prime Time Cafe.

Oh, did you mean your children?

Mom Poppins...i know you have told me before but what is the bed configuration in the Jr. Exec suites????

Loubon ~ I will call and get your seating for Prime Time :)

Zurgswife ~ The layout is like having 3 rooms. In one room is a king bed and oversized chair. In the next big room is a living room with a pull out sofa and a murphy bed. The murphy bed was down when we arrived and we never put it up. There was plenty of room so it was never in the way. Beside the murphy bed is a table and 4 chairs on the other side is a seperate dressing room area. In the living area there is another 2 oversized chairs and a mini bar area. There is a bathroom in both rooms. I guess that about covers it :)

Here is a link to the floorplans to S/D suites.

As far as i know the the Executive Suites do not have balconies. They are quite a bit larger than the Jr. Suites. I posted pictures of the Ex Suite we had several pages back. MomPoppins, why don't you call the Dolphin and inquire about getting an Executive Suite instead of a Jr. Suite (if available)? I'm not sure if they comp Ex. suites to Platinums on a regular basis or not. We certainly enjoyed the extra room.

edited to note that the link is not working. Maybe if you copy and paste it will work? The problem is a missing underscore in the space between s_suites.htm

 Good morning, sorority house!

We are coming out of the deep freeze today - going up to a balmy high 20s! :sunny: Most schools were closed yesterday b/c of the record cold - an unheard of occurance here in most people's memory. My faculty asked to go in for a professional day so as to count it as a day in school which we did do. We have had 3 snow days already from the December blizzard.

jgates~ :Pinkbounc congrats to DH and DD!

madge~ Hang in there! I agree - it's better going to Disney when you can - ideal time or not rather than staying home. I believe it is difficult to take kids out of high school for more than 1 or 2 days. It is so much harder for them to catch up.

:moped: heading over to Disbug's thread to post about the sorority meet.

as a principal, you'll LOVE this policy, Mouseteacher  at the HS that my DS will attend in the fall, the attendance policy is that if no days are missed, then the student is exempt from the final. makes me absolutely crazy....

I am beginning to think that I am not meant to take a trip to WDW this year. Someone tipped me off to some excellent fares on Southwest out of Nashville for Spring Break. I could use my credit...so far, so good. I call the Dolphin, the government rate is available for the nights I need, ok :)

I present the plan to DH. It took some convincing, but I finally got him to agree that he could miss 3 days of work and the world wouldn't end.

I went to book the flight on SWA this morning.....

the flight DOUBLED (almost) in price.

I am sick.

Yikes- hope you can find another good rate! My farewatchers have a lot of good rates coming up but only through 5/23. I need good ones in July!

Got DS back to school last nite. Roads turned to glare ice on the way home. Pulled off and found a motel for $42 at a Days Inn. I was terrified. Had to call in one car that went down in the median and the cop goes - is anyone hurt? SORRY!!!! I'm not stopping on a glare ice interstate and climbing out!!! He said don't worry - they would send someone out to check. Today the roads were fine coming home.

Some of the SUITES "DO" have balconies!!! They are on the upper floors overlooking the POOL on the FAR WEST WING...please call and ask. Also, they are not in the habit of comping upgrades to Exec. suites (Muffy was lucky!). There are not enough, and these are usually the first to be reserved by companies during conventions, etc. But....it NEVER hurts to ask. ::yes::

Muffy~What was the # of your Exec. suite? Was it located ON CL? Thanks. ^_^

Heading to the Beach tomorrow...the weather is too nice, optimal for surfing and sunning. We are then dining at F.McClintock's, and taking in some flicks at the famous Open-Air theater (Sunset) in San Luis Obispo!

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

Oh man......Hockeymom will have me impeached as VP before I am even sworn in!

Have fun tomorrow DF - quite a contrast from my weather!

Spent part of the evening getting my Am. Girl stuff ready for auction and then DH came up with a car part! Ack - I wasn't prepared for eBay motors! A new adventure........

We were on the 3rd floor, 3193 and 3195. We had a view of the grotto pool. It was very easy to get to as it was right off the lobby.
