Last year we bought a house very cheap. It was in very poor condition and in need of a complete overhaul. We are currently living with my in-laws while we are working on it (contractors are there too).

We finally have some significant progress!

Here are some pictures of our new kitchen. New plumbing, new electrical, new from top to bottom!

This used to be the dining room. Cheap, peel and stick tile. Small window opening that was cut to a 30" door to a small addition.

We opened the walkthru to a 6 foot opening. The addition is larger now and attaches to a 3 stall garage.

The home is solid brick. So we furred out the walls and insulated them from the inside.

The house was built in 1911 and featured lath and plaster. All walls were taken down to bare studs with new plumbing and electrical in all areas of the house.

We put a paintable wallpaper on the ceiling that looks like a tin ceiling. It looks amazing in person for a fraction of the cost. It was very time consuming to put it up, but worth it.

The next 3 pictures are the almost finished kitchen. Still some work to finish it, but looks like a real kitchen now. We did stainless appliances and Quartz contertops. We wanted a thick butcher block island so we went with a 6" think natural butcher block island. The tile is a smokey grey ceramic tile.

Wow - looking good! I love the faux tin ceiling wallpaper.

Gorgeous! I love the contrast of the light counter with the dark cabinets. We put in quartz a year ago and it is great to work with.

It's very pretty, but I'd be worried about the butcher block & the cook top. I've seen butcher block burn way too easily. The good side is that it can be sanded out if it does happen. Overall it does look fabulous.

Great work! We bought a 54-year old house 8 years ago. It's solid block construction and has withstood over 60 years of Florida weather now (including hurricanes), but we had to redo every room inside (plus the roof, garage, driveway, landscaping, etc). It's a lot of work but well worth it!

What kind of floor is this? Is it tile or vinyl? Just curious, we are looking at both options.

It took a lot of patience. It was easy to use the product, but on the ceiling it can be a challenge. And its very brittle and fragile when wet.

We thought about granite, but quartz is less maintenance. The countertop actually has a slight sparkle in it. The installer said it "sparkles like Christmas"

Hadn't thought of that, so thanks for the heads up. We will be extra careful and see what it can handle at first.

The house was built in 1911. We bought it for cheaper then the value of the bare land. It had been abandoned for 7 years when we bought it. We live in Iowa and the house was never winterized. It had the old knob and tube electrical. The plumbing was cracked, rotten or just missing. So anything short of a full remodel was out of the question. we reconfigured the whole layout of the home to fit our needs now and going forward. Hoping it all is worth it in the end. Glad yours was worth it!

Love the cabinets!!!

Thanks!

It looks great!!

Thanks!

Looking really good! :)

Thanks!

It's a ceramic tile.

Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful!

Thanks! Wish I could take the credit, but I just pay the bill. It is Amish built and was cheaper to have them do the cabinets (solid wood), quartz contertop, butcher block countertop, handles and knobs, quiet close doors and drawers, sink and installed, then it was just for the cabinets from our local Menards.

I love the kitchen. I did the same thing with the ceiling, but I spray painted it silver. It is a lot of working putting up but so beautiful. Can't wait to see finished pictures..

Looks great, is the whole house a total redo? You are a brave person!!!!:rotfl2:
