My dog ate a battery!

Also, he and no dog are dumb. They're just dogs being dogs. They can't help that they have a lower intelligence than humans, but they have feelings!

my dog (choc. lab) ate a battery when she was a puppy. On July 4th actually, so the emergency vet visit was fun in itself. She swallowed it whole. The vets said surgery was usually an option but b/c of where it was, waiting it out might be better. We did, she passed it. And now 5years later she is still stealing stuff. :)

We do have her X-Ray with that little battery in her. I still think we should hang it on the wall

I just stopped my puppy from eating a battery a few days ago. He loves chewing the remote and now it has no back cover. He got it again the other day and had a battery almost swallowed. I had to pull it out of the back of his throat. Yuck.

As a kid, I had a dog that ate all kids of crazy stuff. He ate a box of staples and allergy pills. He never got sick from any of it either. We always said he wasn't even smart enough to get sick. He was a really good dog but man was he dumb.

OK, whose dog has a computer?

:rotfl:

My dog used to put his paw on the remote and change channels when we weren't paying attention to him, but I don't think he ever worked out the computer.

Boy, is this ever a zombie thread! But, since it's back from the dead, I'll relate that my dog Freckles once got into a box of Rit Dye and dyed his entire front orange. He also once drank a whole bottle of cough medicine with no ill effects whatsoever, besides being totally wasted. :hippie:

This dog lived to the ripe old age of 17. :)

It's not funny!!!! It's never funny when a dog almost dies!!!!! You should care more about him ! You obviously don't, seeing how you act! How would your dog think of you laughing at him?

Also, he and no dog are dumb. They're just dogs being dogs. They can't help that they have a lower intelligence than humans, but they have feelings!

ok, but you registered and posted on a really old thread. whatever.

:lmao: Boy does this bring back memories.... Years ago our lab ate the bedroom TV remote control (the same dog who ate wall board, masonite siding, carpet, you get the picture) We came home to find him laying on the bed with the TV blaring (the crunching must have turned it on) and the remote in pieces around him.... looked like he'd had a little trouble turning the TV on to watch ;) . We couldn't find the batteries from it, called the vet and they had us bring him in for stomach x-rays. They were concerned that stomach acids would eat away at the outer covering of the battery and end up causing the "battery acids" to get into his system. The vet still laughs about this episode - Pluto was well known at their practice
Hope things turn out OK!

Glad to hear you made a couple of calls and that he's going to be okay.

We had a dog like that once. He ate a large cactus and washed it down with a bottle of hot sauce one day when we were at work.
LOL is his name Spike from Snoopy and Charlie Brown comics?
