Well, nobody is watering or pulling weeds anyway, LOL!

My point exactly. Why fight it?

We were gone most of the day today or I would have begged Lowell to go out and mow our dandelion jungle. Maybe tomorrow. It's been a long day. We were up at 5:00 to go to the flea market, then off to church, then on a buying call for antique radio vacuum tubes and radio test equip, then got together with Lowell's two girls (we already had Jon since he goes with us to the flea market and church every Sunday). It seems like we have been up about 24 hours already. I think we came through "the visit" fairly well, but the situation with DD1 is about what I expected.

I just spent $47 on an e-book: Become an ex-smoker.
It sound promising. I ttied it all. My BFF said it sounded good too. Plus I just saw like it has some support chat or something. It's still printing.

I am tired of being a smoker, I want to quit, but it's so damn hard!

Wish me luck!

wendy lou hoo and anyone else who cares -

the breadman is fine.
oh yes he is.
teee hee.
he's good though. We're at a coffee shop. Now I'm mad at him, so I take back everything I said.
HA!
Not really. He just needs to do what I say when I say it.
Duh.
She who must be obeyed,

he'll learn!

Some men are slower at realizing this. Darn Martians! ;)

MONICA! What cutie-patooties you have! I can't believe your baby is getting so big! Aren't girls precious? Love the tidy yard too ,(You KNEW I would though)

Monyx2 Very nice pictures. Your kids are adorable. Your landscaping looks so tidy and pretty. Right now our lawn is a forest of dandelions. :( We don't use any sort of weed sprays etc. Such are the blessings or curses of living in the country. We got a heavy duty, barely used, weedwhacker today at the flea market, so maybe that will help whip the yard into shape. Not that we plan to use it on the dandelions, though.

We have a bunch of neighbors who have dandelions too! We've always just used SCOTT's Weed n Feed each season and, POOF, no yeller flowers!

I absolutely love when one of my kids present me with a dandelion bouquet! :)

See? I LIKE you! This is soooo me! (flea market visiting!!!)
I can NOT wait to visit the "Longest Yard Sale" as seen on HGTV.

Awww, Marita! Good luck!

No posts in 2 hours? Well, I had a nap myself, so I can't complain.

It is storming like mad here, almost like a hurricane. I keep thinking the rain will blow out the sliding glass door. Maybe my complaining about the brown grass helped :confused3 We sure need the rain.

I started reading my stop smoking book, but then I took a nap, so I think I better start over, LOL. This is not boding well........

SIS Good luck with the committment to stop smoking. I didn't know you smoked. Just tell yourself that smoking causes wrinkles. That should give you added motivation.

Thanks, but I already know all the bad things about it.
When was 13 and going to camp with all girls, it was the cool thing to do. And EVERYBODY smoked practically. The 10 or 15 years later hubby quit, and am an outcast..........

So I am trying. again!
Hypnosis - nope
gum - nope
patches - nope
filter - nope

Mony-- the girls are so cute. Can you come do my gardens too. Actually it is just my back ones that need edged up really bad.

Kay-- The kids love the dandelions, they blow the seeds everywhere....:lmao: I loved going to Flea markets before Sunday shopping became in to affect. So what happened with you dd it was good or bad....

Marita-- I tell you quiting smoking to me is like losing weight. We both know all the bad stuff that comes with it but we still do it.

UMA-- You will find people are just noisy too like your neighbours and just want to see what it looks like inside. Geez that sounds like us too!

We have a big community yard sale next weekend. It really draws alot of people because almost every house on the street has something out. Problem is alot of the same item for sale sometimes. Same toys , baby sled that I can't seem to get rid of... So all week I will be getting ready for it.

Hi Kay, What kind of old radios and tubes do you all like?....I have lots of them.

I'm in for some drinking games, BH!

Dang they just started a program on hurricanes for this season on TV ( I changed to Desperate Housewives). I bought this litlle 5.5 " battery TV about 3 years ago, just in case we get a repeat of 2004, but they are changng the technical stuff, so I guess I will just have to ditch it still never out of the box (unless we get one this year, I would rather ditch the thing though than use it for a hurricane)

Glad to hear you made it through your visit to see Lowell's kids, Kay!

We don't use anything on our lawn either. One of the joys of living in the country - nobody to fuss about our dandelions or crab grass :lmao:

I need to either have a yard sale or gather up some more stuff for donation.

Well, I got the majority of the house picked up this afternoon and a bunch of dishes and laundry done. Now I need to vacuum. But I think I will save that for tomorrow night. Arghhhh!

Goog for you, Marita! I echo Nabbie's sentiments about weight loss. Have you looked into that Chantix medication? I've heard that a lot of people have had success with that. Just a thought . . .

Hi, Wendy! She who must be obeyed? :rotfl: LOVE it!!!

Oh, I forgot, I tried some prescription pills too. No luck!

On weekends when not at auctions, Lowell hits a lot of those community sales looking for all kinds of antiques, old radios, vintage hi-fi equip, old clocks and watches, coin collections, scrap gold jewelry etc. He seldom buys what people have out, but he buys lots of things people hadn't thought about selling. :woohoo:

So what happened with you dd it was good or bad....

I think it went well. Just as we thought, this was NOT a planned pregnancy. It came as a surprise. She confirmed my understanding of the situation that when she moved in with him and his dad (and I think the grandfather lives there, too), it was not a romantic relationship as much as a cheap way to move away from home. She says she does love him now, and she claims he would like to marry her, but they plan to wait a year or two.

Lowell encouraged her to get engaged at least, if not married. I wish he hadn't. The way he worded it made it sound like it was mostly to lend some amount of respectability to them living together and having a baby. I'm not too concerned about "what people think." Not in this day and age. It seems wise to make sure their relationship is solid before making any committment. If the BF survives the final weeks of her pregnancy, and the first several months of the new responsibilities and the lifestyle changes of having a baby, then he's probably sincere in his love and committtment to her. I don't mean to be skeptical, but this "relationship" got off to an odd start, and she has enough to deal with already without getting into a bad marriage. We're going to meet him in the next couple weeks. I'm hoping for the best.

Hi Kay, What kind of old radios and tubes do you all like?....I have lots of them.

Lowell has been collecting and restoring old radios from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, and he is also into vintage hi-fi equipment like amplifiers, receivers, turntables, speakers etc. from 1950s and 1960s. The tubes he is looking for are any radio (not TV) tubes that were used inside of tube radios and amplifiers. He also buys test equipment.

Too bad, SIS, I have lots of other junk I could sell him, LOL

Kay-- I agree with you on the waiting it out and not rushing into a marriage at this point for your dd.

I have a really old turntable my dad gave me when I was like 10. It looks like a suitcase and I used to play 45's on it. I still have it in the basement. My mom has two really old tvs as well in her basement too. My dad used have his own TV and appliance store. I know all about tv tubes. He used to have us testing tubes or looking in big boxes of them for a certain number tube.

The record players like you describe are fairly common and not terribly collectible, but they're fun for playing old records. Some of the RCA Victor models are collectible, also ones made by Pilot Radio. Few people collect old TVs, so there isn't much demand for old TV tubes, but radios are quite collectible and people are still looking for new old stock radio tubes or used tubes that still test fairly strong.
