I don't even know if my kids know what a record is.....:lmao: Just like I am not the best on helping them with there MP3's.

Well I am heading to bed....I get to go on another field trip tomorrow with the grade two's . This time to the safety village. Which is pretty cool, a little village set up with street lights, train crossings even a jail. Grade two get to drive jeeps and learn the rules of the road. Grade 4 's last year did bikes and had to do the same thing. Parents get to give out tickets if they break the rules, like going though red lights, not stopping at stop signs, etc.

Lowell has been collecting and restoring old radios from the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, and he is also into vintage hi-fi equipment like amplifiers, receivers, turntables, speakers etc. from 1950s and 1960s. The tubes he is looking for are any radio (not TV) tubes that were used inside of tube radios and amplifiers. He also buys test equipment.

HoW do you tell the difference between old TV Tubes and Old radio tubes..???

Good Morning everyone....I could use a little help with your most outragous BUMP pictures that I could borrow to kick start a dead thread Im subscribed to...Please post or pm them to me....thanks

People who are into old tubes know which are which by the numbers marked on them. TV tubes are pretty much worthless. Radio tubes may be worth a few dollars each to $$$. There are some rare tubes that are worth a LOT. There are still a lot of vacuum tubes around, but people who work on radios horde them up when they can find them, so it's not hard to find a buyer. I would not get my hopes up that the tubes are worth enough to fund a Disney trip. If it turns out that they are, it will be a pleasant surprise.

We brought home a trunkful of TV/radio tubes yesterday and will simply give the TV tubes away to a fellow we know that dabbles with old TVs. We also got a few pieces of test equipment, none of which were anything rare or exciting. The whole lot was $150.00. The tubes Lowell keeps will go in inventory and may or may not be used for years. The equipment will get sold at a local meet, but most of the pieces will only bring $10 to $20.

How cute! That sounds like such fun, as well as being educational. Let us know how many tickets you hand out. Hope no one gets thrown in jail without bail!

Well ...what I have is an old G.E. servicemans tube toolbox full of old tubes that have never been opened maybe a tester I dont remember much but lots and lots of unopened boxes of tubes all in excellant condition.

Good morning! This is the last full week of school for the boys. Then I totally stress out.

Nab: I have 2 boys you can take and throw in jail.

Kay: very interesting about tubes.

Marita: I believe you can do anything you put your mind too. Sounds like you are ready based on the statements you made.

Wendy: HI! How are you? Did you have anymore showings? I think you should throw in pictures of you and the kids from time to time on the virtual tour, just to jazz it up a bit. Oh, I know, a live web cam feed!

Moo: So you have some property then? I'd love to be on 5 acres.

Melinda: hope you have internet very soon.

Thanks for the nice words about the pics. I appreciate them so much!

todays magic number is 9

Serviceman's boxes were usually TV tubes. If you want to PM me a few of the numbers on the boxes, I will ask Lowell to write back and tell you which ones, if any, are good.

Ok it might take awhile...they are buried in a storage shed....probably are just TV Tubes then.

This is what "we" did yesterday (instead of attending church  )

See, our back yard is a dirt field. It boarders a horse pasture and some earlier build homes. You can kind of tell out boarders.

Anyhoo, we (as in not me) got the Yamaha 4-Zinger's brakes fixed and a new gas cap and tires pumped up and my kids have spent their every waking minute riding. Which is a lovely incentive (bribe/threat) to keep their rooms clean.

Here's a mini-TR with mostly pictures:

This is Sara (FDIL?) with an orphan child who resembles Norah:

I go a little slower (only when I have dogs or preschooler's though...who do you think taught them how to jump?)

Let me get this straight. Your whole back yard is a mud I mean dirt field. And you ride your 4 Wheelers back there on Sunday mornings? With your barking dog?

Dirt yes, mud no.

SOD is coming, then no 4 wheeler fun.

Yes on Sunday :smokin: and no on the barking.

We are great neighbors!

Actually, it ended up all our surrounding neighbors came over for a turn! NONE complained.

We also like snow mobiles and sit down personal water crafts (but not in our back yard - to clarify)

Uma - cute - ah to be young again!! I know I get the worst momma of the century award - my kids had no fun growing up!!

Marita - You CAN do it!! Just remember, they are not your friends!! (my mom is horribly addicted to cigs went to a psych/ and that was what the main problem with women and quittting, the cigs are the best friends, they calm you, they are always there...

Nab - Have FUN today!!

Mony - #9 !! Stress here too, they go for one hour on Monday! Then that's it!! Until June 22 - 28!! BUT that's stressful for me, the drive, then what?

I have a killer headache, related to an earache that's just mildly painful... Teaching HEALTH in Jr Hi today - 7th grade plans : Please show the 20 min video, the rest of the time period (20 min) let them put their heads on their desks for a destress 'mental" health relax time.... Um ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? 4 days left of school, and a group of "chatty 7th graders" WITH a substitute... ok... Luckily dh hadnt left for work, I called and asked him to bring me a dvd that was "G" rated - got Fantasia, and Brother Bear!! Hope it works....

Why do you think that they think you are GREAT neighbors? Maybe they have joined together and offered to buy your home. Or at least given you gas money to get out of town?

I am totally amused by all of this. Answer this question.

Why did you put the dog on back? Did he/she want to go for a ride? Did you not notice the dog sitting there before you decided to take off? Is the dog actually the one doing the driving?

After being listed for ONE week too!

I'll take the gas money too since my Suburban is on EMPTY.
Does anyone know how much it takes to fill a Suburban?

UGH.

Yes. I was going to buy a tank for Mother's Day but ended up going a different route because I wasn't planning on spending that much.
