Military 40% Discount (Post Your Rates here)

If we book POFQ at 40% off and then buy the tickets at $99 + hopper for $25, can we also add in dining? We are looking at going October 17-24. We want a day not in the parks and also go to MNSSHP so that would make up for the extra 2 days that we would not have park tickets, however I just was not sure about the dining.

I thought that if you bought the dining you had to buy the tickets with it. If so, is the dining for 5 days just like the tickets are for five days? :confused3

Yes; with the special military tickets, you can add dining to your Disney hotel package without purchasing tickets. Your rates will likely be similar to ours above.

November 29th - December 6th (So, 7 nights)
4 adults + 2 children (one child is 2)

Ft. Wilderness Cabin + Deluxe Dining
$2722.36

Add $447 for companion tickets plus park hopping and water parks fun and more

Total of trip $3169.36

Not bad :)

I am trying to decide if saving more money and staying at a value is a better idea? I really like being able to take the boat to the monorail.

Was your cabin also part of the 40% off and if so how were you able to add Deluxe Dining. We would love to do that but the military offer was only good for the quick service or basic dining plan.
We had the deluxe last year and LOVED it.
Thanks.

Sorry if this has been asked before - I didn't see it anywhere. We have always stayed at SOG so I have never made reservations at a Disney hotel. How do you get a quote using these codes? I didn't see anywhere online to put in codes when doing reservations. Is there a number to call or is it possible to get the information online with the discount codes?
Thanks!

I don't know about on-line, but you can def call 407-WDISNEY and tell them you want the military rate. The code is MYV.

Thanks! Also, if we get the dining package can we only get it for 5 days since tht is how long the tickets are for or can we do 7 since we will be booking for 7 nights?

goin2themouse - Can you tell me why you chose CSR over POFQ? I saw that you just changed where you are staying and was curious. Thanks again!

The dining is based on the number of nights you stay not the days of the tickets. Also you have 5 park days but then you have also have up to 5 more days doing water parks and Disney Quest. So you can always use your QS dining at those places too. You would just have to do any in park dining on the 5 days you use your theme park tickets for.

the waterparks dont count against the 5 days at the park?? that is GREAT news!

Sure! First of all, the only Disney hotels we've stayed in are Shades of Green & Contemporary, both of which are deluxe level hotels, so keep in mind that is the viewpoint we're coming from. When we vacation, typically our preference is to stay in a higher-end hotel, even if it means a shorter vacation. Since the military tickets are five days, and experience has shown us that we personally can't go five days straight without a break day, we opted for eight days (including travel days), which is longer than we perhaps would have otherwise. A deluxe level hotel would have been $1k more, so we chose Moderate.

Our initial reservation was a spur-of-the-moment, no-research, "I must get a hotel NOW before there are none left!" type of decision. We had a family meeting yesterday morning, reviewed our options (including going Deluxe and otherwise having less spending money or going Value for even more savings), decided on Moderate, then further looked at the options in the various hotels to make our final decision.

The two main factors for us in choosing CSR were 1) newly renovated rooms (we'll have a better chance of a renovated room since we're not going until October), and 2) queen beds. There are three of us (DH, teen daughter and me), and again, experience has shown us that we're not comfortable on a vacation when we have double beds. Additionally, we overall prefer the decor of CSR (which is obviously subject to personal taste).

From everything I've read, it's obvious that CSR isn't for everyone (I'm not sure I'd stay there if I had a small child). But for us, it seems like the best fit. :)

No they don't!!! Iwas so happy to find that out yesterday!!! We extended our trip bc of it. My husband said since we are flying all that way why not make the best of it.

Now you can't "park hop" with the water parks. Basically if you want to stretch it out for the whole 5 days then jst 1 day. Also if you leave a water park in the middle of the day and come back later that counts as two of the 5 "visits"

So if you do park hopper and water park and more you basically have a
5 Day Theme Park Hopper
and
5 Visits to the Water Parks and Disney Quest

I thought it would have taken away from one of the 5 days, I was SOOOOOO happy to learn that I was wrong! More fun! Yeah!

You might want to double-check that; I'm pretty sure that's not quite accurate. :)

Can you tell me why you chose not to stay at SOG again?

Here's our situation: We are a family of 5 so a value won't work for us. SOG has a pull out couch and the 5 of us have stayed there comfortably before. Plus with being a deluxe level the rooms are bigger. We only eat dinner in the parks. I know by staying at SOG we cannot do the DDP. We are looking for the cheapest option for a 7-8 night stay. Am I missing something? Is SOG not the cheapest option for me? We are going over Thanksgiving and our rate is $127/night. We will have to pay $110 RT for airport to SOG transportation so that will factor into our cost. Anyone have input on how we might do it cheaper and I am just not seeing it? Thanks you guys are always so helpful.

For those booking and have AAA, don't forget that you can book through them and still get the great pricing and AAA benefits.
Hope this helps some of you out.

You can still book the military discount throught them? What are the benefits of booking through AAA?

I need a little clarification please.

My DH is a drilling reservists. He has not be activated for full time active duty, however he does have to do active duty for at least 12 days. On his original orders/contract for entering into the reserves from active duty it states that he has to do 12 days active duty annually. It does not say 12 says active duty training. When I spoke with Disney Ticket Services and our local ITT office they said we'd qualify. I was able to describe his ID and it was listed on their sheet. We'll be picking up the vouchers this weekend. Reservations at Disney also said that we qualified for the 40% discount. All 3 said that orders were not needed and that the ID was all they needed. I will bring for a just in case the original orders/contract (ITT office said that those work if needed but assurred me they weren't). What will I truly need? Also, I haven't booked yet as my SIL is checking to make sure there is room on a stand by flight for us, but are the possibilities good that I might be able to get a room at a value for late May? I hope to call and book tonight :)

DH has the new CAC card (just got it this October) that is identical to the active duty. I really don't think we'll have any problems, but I'm wondering what others have been told when they booked. Thank you!
