Question about the room block....

So unfortunately I am one of the many confused by the room block Since we are now only 19 days away from booking. I want to make sure I have this right... we decide how many rooms at each hotel we would like booked on each day, correct? can this be changed? if we have a family friend who is vacationing down there (and will serve as a baby sitter for my nephews while my sister is off doing wedding stuff with me) can she use the room block even though she won't be attending the wedding? i just want to be thoroughly prepared!

Since I just went through the torture of the room block, I'll try to help!!

1. Yes you decide how many you want on each day at each hotel.
2. Yes she can use the room block - anyone can really! If you think of the brides on here who come up short and have people on the boards send their ressie numbers or have people book rooms on their block.

I was assigned to a group reservation specialist who has been awesome - I'm sure you will be as well!

You're not set in stone to your room block - if you need to adjust dates or hotels (i.e. I took Boardwalk out of mine) they'll do it for you. And they'll send you a report of how your block is going at 6mo, 4mo, 3mo, 6wk, 4wk and 10d before the wedding. They're extremely helpful in all aspects!

Theresa, I have been thinking about that too. I wish you luck with everything. Its sounds like things are pretty flexible with the room block though. I hope all is going well with your planning otherwise. keep us posted about your date.....

Tammy, I will definitely be keeping up with the PJ more now that we are getting closer to the one year mark! I bought shoes for my dress but can't post pics of them b/c Michael likes to lurk on this thread I'm happy with them and got them on sale from Sears!

I'm getting so anxious waiting for the 19th (well, the 20th I suppose b/c the 19th is a sunday). I just want to start REALLY planning ya know? I just don't know what I can do until then? I mean, I know there are things to be done. I'm just so anxious! Also, with the DFTW lay offs, I'm a little nervous for our consultant. She has been so awesome, I hope she hasn't been affected by this! Ahhh, what to do with my time... i feel like a high schooler waiting by the phone for a crush to call. oh man.... LOL!

Oh and the other day, I was in the car with my dad (i still live with him at home) and we were talking about something. Oh I know, he's going out of town next week for a few days and asked me what my plans are. I told him my day to day plans (i'm very detailed in story telling... as you are all probably aware of by now) So when I got to Sunday and said it's our one year mark and the girls and I are going to look at bm dresses... he's like ALREADY???? I said well, yeah, David's Bridal kept calling me to make an appointment b/c the girls will need to order them and whatnot. Anywho, he was all dad-ish and said, "but you're rushing me". He's so sad I'm moving out within the next year. But he's happy for me and wants me to be happy! I'm his little girl, the baby of the fam! He just likes to tease me! It's easy to do!

Anywho, just thought it was cute and I'd share!

10 DAYS TIL WE BOOK!!!!!

i'm quite excited!!!! I think I've decided on our room block resorts. AS movies or POP (that one is up in the air still. i suppose it really doesn't matter), POFQ, and the Contemporary.

Now, if someone decides to stay at a different resort, can they still our discount? Can their ressie be added to our block? i'm a little confused.

So today is the one year mark!!! i emailed Kristi on Thursday to see if we needed to get anything else to her before we book but she hasn't emailed me back yet. I figured we wouldn't hear anything this weekend so hopefully, I'll hear something tomorrow!

As for an update, I just got back from David's bridal. We had an appointment for the bridesmaids!!! It's official, I have bridesmaid dresses! I'm going to keep it a surprise for mike for a little while so i'm not going to post a pic here quite yet. We look like the most current david's print ad. PM if you want to see a pic! All I know is, I was so shocked all 4 of them liked this dress and color so much! The dress has POCKETS!!!! how cool is that? I've never seen a dress with pockets! I'm so excited.

CONGRATS ON BEING A YEAR OUT!!!

I'm going to have to PM you for a pic of those dresses, because I'm still looking for one for my MOH! Pockets are just cool.

About the block - you can add anyone's ressies to your block even if they don't stay at the hotel. It's still considered a guaranteed night, they just don't get the discount. (But in all likelyhood, they found a better one online!)

Excellent choices with POP, POFQ and Contemporary!! Let us know what happens tomorrow!!

Ok, it's official... i'm TERRIBLE at keeping secrets. Shortly after I posted my first post of the day I was on the phone with mike and told him about the dresses. So here they are. Nothing like I was planning but they all liked them and looked nice in them! We look like the most current David's bridal print ad! LOL.

We were contemplating doing 2 dresses in the flower print but I'm not positive of the which sister I'm going to have next to me so we went with all orange!!! Who knew? I was expecting to come out with pink and purple???? but they all loved the dresses and shoes. get this... the dresses have POCKETS!!!!!!!!!!! how cool is that? I honestly think the girls all are more excited about the shoes. I wasn't planning this at all. I wanted them to get a dress they would all like and be comfy in and whatnot AND would wear again. AHHHHH I'm so excited but now I kinda need to rethink my colors for flowers and centerpieces and whatnot!!! LOL. I hope mike isn't too disappointed the dresses aren't purple but we couldn't find a BRIGHT purple and I really wanted BRIGHT!!!

I am so jealous!! When I was at David's Bridal yesterday I saw a Bridal party in that color, shoes and all and it was just gorgeous!!!!! If it wasn't too late, I would have changed my colors! You made such a great choice IMHO.
