I'm curious what the time limitations are and the process to follow to convert a directly purchased date based ticket into an annual pass?

Also, does it matter if you are trying to convert to the Sorceror Pass? (This might involve a direct DVC purchase as or during the trip)

If it's a used date-based ticket, upgrades must be done within 14 days of first use and/or prior to the expiration date of the ticket. So you can use the ticket during your stay and upgrade at any time prior to park close on the date you use the last entitlement. The AP will be back-dated to have started on the date you first used the date-based ticket. NOTE: a date-based ticket cannot be upgraded if it was used on a date that is blocked-out for the AP.

An unused date-based ticket can be upgraded at any point. If it expires the credit can be used toward an AP if that's your choice.

Credit will be the price WDW charged online for the same ticket at the time you purchased the date-based ticket. If prices increase between purchase and upgrade, you'll pay that difference.

Just a follow question to upgrading to AP's... we have a trip planned with a Bounceback offer this November that includes 10-day hopper tickets. We've since decided that we'd like to get AP's, but were told that if we remove the park tickets from our package that we might lose the BB discount. As an alternate the CM told us that we could simply upgrade our 10-day ticket to an AP at guest services after we check-in and not lose the room discount. I'm fine with that, but I also had plans to add the $100 photopass option to our AP. Can I add this photopass option there at guest services on our first day and immediately start utilizing that feature to save our photos? Or would there be a waiting period?

My other concern with upgrading to AP's on our first day is that we won't be able to make our park reservations for the entire trip until right then after check-in. Should I be concerned that our Incredi-pass would be out of park reservations for the week BEFORE Thanksgiving for any of the parks?

Not sure if this answers your ?, but I cancelled a trip and didn't remember that I had a credit for the unused date based ticket for 4 years, at which time I called DVC and used the credit to buy a Sorcerer's AP.

Removing tickets doesn't seem like it should affect your BB since you can book a ticketless package known as a "basic package" under the BB terms. Maybe try calling again and speaking with another CM?

The only time removing tickets from a package should affect a discount would be something like free dining that requires tickets to be purchased as part of the package terms.
