Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Stephanie - hope things get better soon.

Terry - that house was something else - WOW.

I am back in Little Rock with Dad. We drove straight thru yesterday. I was going to stop half way, but he said he wanted to keep going. The last hour or two of the trip he looked like he was just miserable and I wish I'd stopped. But he wanted to get home.

Dad has no paralysis from the stroke, but I can tell a difference. He could not remember how to use the microwave that he has used everyday for years. Plus he couldn't remember what stations he liked to watch on cable in LR.

 to you Tricia...I am thinking about you guys.

::yes:: the house was awesome!

Thanks Steph

Tricia - Feel free to PM me at any time, seeing these kinds of changes isn't easy even if only temporary, I've been there.

Of course being in New Orleans for a month with a differenct microwave and different channels can throw me sometimes.

Tricia, It sounds like your Dad is doing pretty well. Hopefully, now that he's home, he'll get back into his old routines & that will help. Prayers for his continued recovery!

Welcome home! Can't wait to hear all about it....:hyper:

Morning ladies....I pick up my dd today. I missed her but boy was it nice to have quiet time and not having to hear her call "mama" a thousand times.:)

Hey y'all,

Terry how did she like gym camp?

Nothing much going on here today.

Have a good Thursday everyone!

Sheryl - I found the information on the sunscreen for you. It's from the Colorescience (that extra "e" is not a typo) line of products. I googled it, & it looks like it's only available through a dermatologist. It's a mineral-based brush-on product, kind of like Bare Escentuals and all those other mineral makeups that are big right now. I kind of wonder how good it would be for swimming, but the package literature & website both say it's very water resistant. I wonder if it's the actual sunscreen ingredients you're reacting to, or if it's the lotion base. Have you had sensitivity to other similar stuff?

Big thunderclouds moving in overhead - it just got really dark. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain too much. We've got one baseball end-of-season tourney game tonight, and possibly three tomorrow (between the two boys) depending upon whether their respective teams win or lose. If those games don't get played, I have a feeling we'll be at the park all day Saturday.

Mrs. K - things going better today, I hope.

Tricia - I'm a believer!!!!!!!!! We buried the St. Joseph statue last Friday and got our FIRST offer today.....:yay:

Hey y'all!

I've spent the last two days trying to restore two of DH's great-grandmother's cast iron skillets that were saved from MIL's shed after Katrina. Oy-vey, what a mess! We figure they are around 100 years old (maybe even older than that), and they look every bit of it! I have some weird hobbies. :upsidedow

Today is DH's birthday, but he is working- didn't ask for the day off. I did make him some waffles for breakfast though.

I found the TOT picture :bitelip: yesterday, but I can't get the scanner to work!:badpc: When I asked DH to help me with it and he saw the TOT pic, he said "NO WAY!!!" because he sensed I was doing something evil with it, like posting it on an internet message board....:rolleyes1 I'll keep working on it. ;)

Terry, I wanted to ask, how was the drive down to WDW? How long did it wind up taking you? We're trying to figure out what time to leave again this year (I'm wanting to leave earlier, like at 2 am, DH is saying no way).

Kristina, hope you feel better soon!

Hey, I'm finally getting to post some pictures from our trip.

We visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential library. It is set up on a hill in Simi Valley. Here is a picture of the kids looking out:

The day we visited the library was the anniversary of President Reagan's death. Mrs. Reagan was there visiting the tomb.

This is me and the kids at the beautiful Pantages Theatre waiting to see "Wicked". It was great:thumbsup2

This is the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades. It is a museum that is a recreation of an ancient villa. The grounds there are simply gorgeous.

I will post some other pictures tomorrow. Right now I have to give the dogs a bath. We just got them back today and they kinda smell:)

FloraFauna,

Great pics! Thanks for posting them and can't wait to see more. How exciting that you got to see Mrs. Reagan, too.
