Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - Part II

Mary, Welcome Back!

Great pics- thanks for posting them! And the Getty Villa is gorgeous- wow!

Love those pictures from California!

Speaking of pictures - if I was still in New Orleans I would come over with my laptop and scanner and scan that picture for you Lorie. I love seeing pictures of your hubby - he is so cute.

Kathy - good luck with the house sale going thru.

Now is everyone ready for a really good laugh. I am warning you - do not take a sip of water or soda right now or it might end up on the screen:

When my dad was at Touro a couple of weeks ago he had a little stomach upset. The doctor came in one morning and asked how he was. He told the nurse and doctor that he had a "little gonorrhea".

My sister was there (I was mercifully absent). She quickly corrected him and said "Dad - diarrhea, diarrhea." The nurse, doctor, my sister and even my dad could not contain themselves. They were all laughing so hard they were almost crying.

I made a trip to the store this morning and my dad told me "get me some of that gonorrhea medicine". It is our new family joke. At least he does really know the difference even if he "mis-spoke" in the hospital.
.

Sorry I have been away. I posted a while back that I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Well this is one of those "invisible illnesses" so my family forgets that I am sick, or maybe they think I exaggereate the sympotoms...IDK.

Well we are still living with my MIL, since the storm...most of the time it works for both of us...she helps us so we can save for a house and we help her with bills etc.
Ok so the other night she chewed me out because the house isn't clean enough, there is too much clutter, etc. Now we don't live in filth, but I will admit I am not the tidiest person. I am just EXHAUSTED all of the time. Everyday I try to do as much as I can, but I can only do so much. After that I just fell apart. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. My dosage of thyroid hormone isn't right so even though I take medicine it isn't really helping yet. And because I don't have any outwardly physical symptoms I don't think anyone believes me.

Well God works in His own way. I went to my cake decorating class tonight, and I started complaining about my week. Well one of the ladies said oh I have Hashimoto's too! After talking with her I feel so much better. She completely understood what it is like. It basically validated all that I have been feeling.

I am up trying to catch up on laundry and tomorrow and saturday will be dedicated to spring cleaning. Hopefully I can get some of the clutter out.

Anyway, thanks for all of the prayers and PD. Thanks for letting me vent.

TGIF :yay:

Well I really missed my DD. The gymnastics camp was awesome. She learned so much in a small amount of time. I was so proud that she came home with all of her stuff. We talked alot before going to bed.

Steph....I am here for you. I am glad you found someone else whom you can connect with; it's always nice to have someone to relate to you. Please feel free to PM me if you need to. Also, it is always hard to live with loved ones. Just do your best. :goodvibes

Mary I love those pictures.

Tricia - I'm a believer!!!!!!!!! We buried the St. Joseph statue last Friday and got our FIRST offer today.....:yay:

:woohoo: That's just great Kathy. Now let's pray for a quick closing. :thumbsup2

Mary great pictures. Your family is beautiful.

Tricia II thanks for the laugh. I hope "Dad" is feeling better now.

MrsKreamer  hugs to you my friend. Please vent away because this is the perfect place to get it all out without unloading it on your family. We are always here for you.

That's great that you found someone who you can really connect with.

I found the TOT picture :bitelip: yesterday, but I can't get the scanner to work!:badpc: When I asked DH to help me with it and he saw the TOT pic, he said "NO WAY!!!" because he sensed I was doing something evil with it, like posting it on an internet message board....:rolleyes1 I'll keep working on it. ;)

Kristina, hope you feel better soon!
Can't wait for the pic! and thanks - feeling better...just sore!

Now I'm just praying that their financing goes through.
wow - how awesome you got an offer so fast! just trust that St. Joseph will not just bring you offers but good ones at that!

Hey, I'm finally getting to post some pictures from our trip.

I will post some other pictures tomorrow. Right now I have to give the dogs a bath. We just got them back today and they kinda smell:)
Incredible pictures! I assume they didn't let you get near Mrs. Reagan, so how cool you were able to take her picture! (I probably would have been in trouble cause I would have tried to run up and hug her!)

Now is everyone ready for a really good laugh. I am warning you - do not take a sip of water or soda right now or it might end up on the screen:
Thanks for the "spew" warning! that is funny and it is fun to have family jokes...

I work with folks with disabilities to help them get jobs and keep them...and I hear all the time how hard it is for people with those "hidden" disabilities when people don't understand them and they look "perfectly normal and capable". DH has thyroid issues as do several friends. I have never heard of your particular disorder so I think it is not a coincidence someone else there also has the exact same thing and can totally relate to you! enjoy your cake class and don't hesitate to come here and get validation as well!

woo hoo - first time I really 'multi quoted' - so much easier than trying to remember everything!

so how did the baseball go yesterday? and any more scheduled this weekend? I'm sorry it looks as if it is going to rain a lot again this weekend....why not during the week when there is nothing going on?!?!

Steph - We are here for you, vent any time.

Checking in kinda late this morning, family drama strikes again in the form of step son. He shares Johnny's name and lucked out and got a bank teller that didn't bother to check DOB on two small withdrawals made out of our checking account yesterday. Somehow he got our account # and made two W/D's. Johnny is really taking this hard, I'm used to this kind of thing and was not surprised at all. We DID press charges.:furious:

oh my goodness, sympathy for you. sounds like my stepson (dh son). hang in there and will be praying for you!

Hey y'all,

Not feeling so great today. IBS & sinuses acting up today.

My multi-quote's not working as well as Kristina's!

Kristina, Glad that you're feeling better today. :goodvibes

Kathy, So glad that you finally got an offer on the house! Prayers that the sale goes through!

Hey y'all!

I've spent the last two days trying to restore two of DH's great-grandmother's cast iron skillets that were saved from MIL's shed after Katrina. Oy-vey, what a mess! We figure they are around 100 years old (maybe even older than that), and they look every bit of it! I have some weird hobbies. :upsidedow
Today is DH's birthday, but he is working-I found the TOT picture :bitelip: yesterday, but I can't get the scanner to work!:badpc:
When I asked DH to help me with it and he saw the TOT pic, he said "NO WAY!!!"

Lorie, I think it's neat trying to save those skillets, but gosh that must be a ton of work!

Tell Todd we said "Happy Birthday"!!!!

But now, go hide that pic, let him forget about it, & find something else that needs scanning! Get Todd to fix the scanner & then post that picture for us!! ;) Yeah, I'm a sneaky wife.

Tricia, I'm so glad you forwarned me to swallow before I read that! :rotfl2: That is so funny! Really glad to hear your Dad has his sense of humor back & can laugh about it now!!

Mary, Those pictures are gorgeous! That is neat that you were able to see Mrs. Reagan too! Wow it looks like y'all really had a great time. :goodvibes

Stephanie, Come vent anytime! I can really relate to "invisible illnesses" and the family not getting it! Glad you found someone to validate your feelings!

Kathy, That is horrible! I feel so bad for Johnny!

Terry, I wanted to ask, how was the drive down to WDW? How long did it wind up taking you? We're trying to figure out what time to leave again this year (I'm wanting to leave earlier, like at 2 am, DH is saying no way).

Lorie- our drive down was about 11 hrs; this included 2 brief potty breaks. We left home @ 4:30 and got there about 3 our time.

Thanks for all the compliments on the pictures. My kids helped me post, I am clueless sometimes when it comes to computers.

Lorie, I was told anytime you start a diet or excercise program, it takes about 5 weeks to start showing results. Keep doing what your doing and don't get discouraged.

Kathy, I love you new car.

Stephanie, please feel free to vent here. I think we all have at one time or another. I hope things start improving.

Terry, I'll bet your trip was wonderful. I don't ride TOT. I love the theming and I think the lobby of the hotel is beautifully done. But, that's where it ends, I walk through the line with DH and kids. When they get into the elevators, I take the "chicken" elevator. And I'm not ashamed either:rotfl2:

TriciaII, your dad stories always crack me up. I think my favorite is still when you brought the dog home, and he said you "disobeyed" him.:rotfl:

kmores, nice to meet you:)

Woo hoo- got the scanner to work! :hyper:

That's us down in the lower left corner :bitelip:
002-1.jpg

Stephanie- Feel free to vent away! I'm glad you found someone to commiserate with.

Tricia II- That is hilarious! I wouldn't have been able to keep a straight face either...:rotfl: . Your dad sounds like quite a character.

Kathy- OMG, how horrible! :( You definitely have my sympathies.

Sheryl- Yes, it was hard work- after four broken fingernails, raw hands, two blisters, and dirty stained fingernails (of those which remain), I finally finished those skillets! I used one of the skillets for sauteeing onions for our soyburgers we had for lunch today. :cool1: And I hope you feel better too.

Terry- Thanks for the drive info. I'm guessing we'll leave at 3:30 because DH is insisting on eating breakfast at the rest stop in Pensacola with the airplanes. He certainly is a creature of habit. If we left earlier than that we would be stopping too early for that particular rest stop.

Kathy, I'm sorry this happened to you with your stepson. It is painful when a family member does something like this to you:(
