Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Lori - I am so sorry about your MawMaw, but as you said she'll be reuniting with her hubby and that will be wonderful.

Sheryl, Dr. Brint did my Lasik back in 1999 or 2000. He was the only one I considered even with all the Dr.'s here in Baton Rouge.

Kathy-glad everything was ok, but hoping they find the problem:)

It's getting a little better here.

I may be coming in sooner than originally planned(end of April and then in June) b/c my mawmaw is in her last days. Hospice called and told us she will most likely get to heaven in a couple weeks, or days. She is 94 and has had a wonderful life. We are not sad. She's gonna go be with her hubby. However, it IS sad, that my sister, mom, cousin and ourselves are thankful to see each other sooner than expected.:rolleyes1 I just think it is the IDEA we live further now. My cousin is in Tennessee so we never see each other.
Mawmaw will get a party instead of a sad funeral- but I think she'd like that better anyway.
What is truly sad is that her son(my uncle) is a moron and they are taking things from her already. They took the very necklace off of her neck that had her late husbands wedding ring on it that she asked to keep till she passed. She is not with it right now and they took it off of her:eek:. Like I said, he and his family are morons. His family goes to stay with her and they eat everything she has plus they put dinners on her tab at the assissted living facility. Everyone else brings thier food with them from home. She is not eating much but when she wants something- it's all gone. Like a coke- they(uncle, and kids) drank everyone she had and refused to replace them till my sister demanded it when mawmaw asked for one and theren't any.
ugh...... I could go on and on................

I will FB you all the dates we have scheduled to come home-June will be the best time if you all are available to get together.

Lori

Hugs Lori!!!

Lori, I am sorry to hear about your mawmaw, but I can feel you on the not so sad part. When Sean's Grandma died at 90, it was a happier affair because we knew she was done suffering and had her husband and three of her five children waiting on her. I do pray for her not to suffer.

Eye surgery, now you are getting to my biggest phobia aside from flying. I guess the disecting of the sheeps eyeballs in 7th grade left a huge impression on me, that and my aunt's boyfriend thinking that the video of his eye surgery (he had cataracts) being fantastic after Thanksgiving dinner viewing... no one is touching my eyes even though I am blind as a bat. I applaud those of you who have the guts to go through with it, I would love to get rid of the glasses/contacts...

We had a ton of new to us furniture delivered to us tonight. I am excited, but now I got stuff to get out of here so we can walk...lol.

awwww.............Thanks ya'll!

It's gorgeous today! and warmer. like mid 70's maybe. The kids are BEGGING to jump in the pool-but THAT is freezing. So not yet. it is not a heated pool.

Since we are not coming home for Easter, we are having some Disneyschoolers over who are in the same predicament we are in- no family and not heading home;). Of course, my mawmaw may have different plans........ She may wait till Easter week to pass so I can be home- she IS stubborn like that. In the meantime, we are planning an egg hunt and we are making a ham and some other dishes(I think some of us/them are gonna do Disney inspired dishes). One mom is making some potato casserole made in the Crystal Palace. Hmmm, maybe I need to make banana bread pudding? or attempt another tie dye cheesecake??

So it gives us something to work toward as far as the house goes- but I DID warn them to expect unpacked boxes lying around.

Missing the heck outta home~

Lori

Just checking in real quick. I have to go back and catch up with ya'll. Have a great day!

Just heard from my Dr., my EKG & monitor results showed nothing so he wants to see me on Friday to refer me to a cardiologist since I'm still experiencing the palpitations. Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers.:grouphug:

Glad the monitor didn't show anything! Hopefully it's not a big deal.

Lori, I'm sorry about your Maw Maw.

I came back home fdrom the camp today and will be for the forseeable future because I have SHINGLES! UGH- I had it about 10 years ago and relapses are not uncommon.
On the bright side, I'll get to visit with y'all more often.

Hello everybody!

I'm home. I thought I posted last night but I guess not. :confused3 I had a great trip but I'm still recovering from it. :lmao: SOOO tired. I think tomorrow I'm going to take a double dose of coffee....two 16 oz cups.

My friend is moving to Virginia...in about 2 weeks. :sad2:

Lori -

Rie'smom - Feel better!

I'm debating writing a trip report on the TR board or if I should just embed it here. All I want to do right now is go to sleep.

The wind is howling. The dew points behind this front are only in the 20s. That means drier air; that means my sinuses will stage a revolt tomorrow. :headache: They've decided they do not DO dry air.

Hi gang I'm checking in quickly.

I've been lying low this week..today was my last day at my downtown office and tomorrow will be my last day at my Jackson office....I've grown very fond of my team there; I know alot of tears will be shed so bringing alot of tissue. :sad1:

 to Kathy and Julie..I hope you both feel better soon.

Bethany I hope you've recovered :)

Lori how much unpacking do you have left?

Riesmom- yuck! am soo sorry- hope you feel better.........

Kathy-

Paul just said he underestimated how much he misses our church family. Church here is so different and so far it sucks b/c it isn't STUMC!

Every time we do something new that should resemble something like home, we are disappointed. Wednesday night dinner was very............ummmmm............elderly. Ashton said it smelled like Mawmaw's assisted living facility. I didn't get that but Paul agreed with her. Not sure we'll return to that. Only plus is that it's one less meal I gotta make during the week! The 4 of us can eat for $15:)

Gonna try another church this weekend. WE went to this one this pase weekend and it was better then our experience in Houston- it was do-able!

Good luck finding a home church. When I was growing up, young people in Florida were a rare find  Not so much the case now. Keep looking. You might find that the churches will get a younger crew over the next few months as the snowbirds fly back home soon.

Well, it strikes in three, right? Last week, Spencer. This week, Logan. I think he fractured his arm tonight. I am not taking him to the emergency room though. From experience, they wrap it (did that), tell me to put ice on it (done), and give him tylenol for pain (have that) so I am waiting till the morning to take him to the doctor. Really sad that I have insurance that I really can't afford to use since another ER copay really isn't in this months budget. :sad2: Not sure whether to go to our regular pediatrician or straight to the orthopedist. I will decide in the morning. And just what caused the latest injury... he was pushed out of a chair... by our repeat offender.... (and also the one who helped Spencer fall out of his bed) Now I am really worried about next week!!!!

Julie, feel better. So sorry about the shingles.
Serena, sorry you are sad about leaving your team. Times like these make you wish you could bottle the people and take them with you.. huh.
Bethany... love your new signature.

Most of it is done, but there's still an awful big pile in the garage- most of it is seasonal attic stuff, but some is pre-selling the house stuff- some of which I do not need any longer. Like my convection oven, since we got a regular oven with convection.

At least we can sleep soundly and walk through the house.

Cara- It was AMAZING the difference in age from this WND to our home churches WND! But the service was good and age range was diverse. Paul called tonight the early bird special cuz all the older people were there

Julie, hoping for a quick recovery from the shingles:hug:

Kat, love you too! I hope you feel better soon:hug:

Cara,:hug:when I read your post about the broken arm on facebook, I was like: great--just what she needs to happen right now. Please keep us updated. I will be praying for ya'll.

Lori, early bird special:lmao: That sounds like something my husband would say.

Serena,

Bethany, I look forward to reading your report:thumbsup2 but get some rest first:cloud9:

 I hope Logan feels better. What did the doctor say?

Hey y'all,

Cara, Prayers for Logan! :flower3: Hoping it's not a fracture! Congrats on the new furniture!

Lori, I hope you can find the right church for your family! I know how much you loved the old one.

Kathy, Feel better girlfriend!

Julie, My SisIL had them & it was not good! I pray that it clears up very soon! Most likely came on due to stress & I know you have lots of that!:grouphug::flower3:

We are getting ready to spend a bunch of money on our pool. :sad2: It needs to be replastered, but we also need new tile. We were going to just do that this year, but we are being told that changing the decking later would likely damage the tile. We are in a pickle, not ready to spend all of that, but don't want to ruin new stuff in a year or so.
