Quick question about movie opening dates. I know that Disney ships often show movies that are only available in theatres, but I've never really paid attention to exact premier dates. However, I will be on a cruise that ends on 21 May in 2026, which is opening day for the new Mandalorian movie and my son is a huge Star Wars fan. Is there a chance that we will be able to see the movie onboard even though it's only opening in theatres the day we disembark?

Back in May, we were on a sailing that was ending on the day "Lilo & Stitch" was being released. They did a Prem"ear" @ Sea the night before, showing it in both the movie theater and Walt Disney Theater at 11pm.

Yes. We have been on several cruises where movies premiered the night before being released in the theaters.

Thanks for the replies! My son would be thrilled if he could watch it in the big theatre on the last night of the cruise.

No guarantees, and it all depends on whether they're able to 'get' the movie before they sail. But, as others noted, they do like to do PremEARs at sea the night before they release in theaters. So precedent says there's a decent chance! (But, I've also heard that some premEARs couldn't happen, so it's no guarantee).

The movie comes out May 22nd, not May 21st 😬 So if you are disembarking the ship the morning of the 21st then no, you won't see it on the ship. Those embarking on the 21st will probably be seeing it that first night as a Premear at Sea
