Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 09/2009

Tricia, Oh my, you poor thing! You must have been so scared & worried! I hope you have friends up there, that are helping you. I'll be praying for a quick healing & that everything turns out well. Love, hugs & prayers!:hug:

Bethany, What is wrong with me? I did not realize that you were going to WDW tomorrow!! Nor that you were running a half marathon!!!:sad2: I'm really impressed with the running! Good luck & have fun.:goodvibes

I got Mrs. Reagan off to school this morning! :cutie: She practiced her report once more & did well, so I'm praying she does as well in class! Y'all can see pics on FB.

Hello again - I've been MIA.

Feb. was not a good month for me. (big understatement)

I fell in the bathroom (slipped on some paper on the tile floor). I didn't break anything but got pretty banged up and almost bit through my upper lip which was very painful.

Just as that was healing (about a week later) I got bit on my upper lip by my dog. He's not an aggressive dog at all. I can take food out of his mouth. But I startled him when he was asleep in my bed which frightened him, and he snapped as he woke up.

Wrong place, wrong time. My upper lip was almost shredded. It has been SO painful. I went to the ER plus I saw a plastic surgeon. It has to heal completely before they can go back and fix it. It looks much better now - really just one place that was ripped all the way through.

This has been really traumatic. Because it was so raw and swollen I couldn't really tell how bad it was going to look. I had visions of my upper lip being horribly deformed. The pain was really bad. It hurt to talk, breathe, eat, etc. I was on vicodin until this past week when I decided that I should not take anymore. I was in AGONY the past few days. It felt like a bad burn with salt poured on it. (better today)

Plus the keyboard went out on my laptop so I've had to use this old keyboard. Not that I felt much like being on the computer - but it was really hard to use the keyboard and then have to move it so I could use the touch pad on the laptop (mouse stopped working too).

I got out today for the first time in ages. I bought a cable to transfer my stuff to another computer and got a new mouse. I don't even try to post when using my iphone.

Hope all are well. Tomorrow I will try to catch up on my reading the past 10 pages of this thread.

I really wish I could have been in New Orleans for Mardi Gras. This is the first one I've missed since Katrina.

My new condo has this really old carpet. I planned to replace it eventually, but now it has blood stains all over it too!

:hug:Tricia, I hope March is better for you.

Just wanted to let y'all know I'm home and am sporting this horrendous looking heart monitor and wires, I have to go to work tomorrow!

Mary - Any word on FIL yet?

:hug:Kat, did you get the results from the monitor?

Kat, how long do have to wear the monitor? What did Dr. say?

My father-in-law is out of operating room and in recovery. Dr. said everything went fine. He should be a room later on today.

Thanks everyone for prayers.

:hug:Great news! How is he doing?

Julie -

:) My mom and dad are taking us to lunch at La Casa today. Yum, I LOVE Mexican food!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!!!:cool1:

Thank-you Mary!!!

Just a quick check-in.

Happy Belated Birthday to Julie... hope it was a good one.

Not to much happening around here, which is a good thing. I am looking forward to Spring and warmer temperatures. It has been cold far to long, and I LOVE cold weather.

Kat, good news from the doctor. I am relieved for you.

Thanks!!!:)

Okay, so here's a Sienna haha to lighten the mood....I was doing laundry earlier and had hung up one of my bras to dry. Sienna picked it up and said "good Lord, what is THIS?!" with a totally incredulous yet slightly disgusted look on her face. :rotfl: I hear the unedited verbiage only gets better at the age of four....:lmao:

:rotfl:

Good morning!

I just checked in to my flight for tomorrow morning to DISNEY WORLD!!! :dance3::dance3: I got "A" boarding group for Southwest. :woohoo: I've never flown them before but knew about the check in 24 hours ahead thing for "A" boarding from the DIS. On Sunday I'm going to do the Princess Half Marathon! :scared1: I've never done something like this before so I'm a bit nervous but I'm sure I'll do fine because I did 10 miles last Sunday in 2 hours, 20 minutes, (14 min/mile pace) and this Sunday I'll have 3 hours, 30 minutes to do 13.1 miles (you have to maintain a 16 mile pace). Plus, it's the Flower & Garden Festival at Epcot! :cheer2:

Okay...gotta go to work! Have a great day everybody!

Have a great trip!!!!

:hug:Cara, I couldn't find the original message about Spencer but I'm so happy that he's fine!!!

OK, I have to dress for lunch. I'm so lazy today:dance3:.

Hi Ladies - quick check in -

Tricia - what a bad month; I hope things start improving for you - It's been a rough few months.

Bethany - have fun and good luck!

Julie - Happy belated birthday!

Kat - I hope you get good news from the docs.

Sheryl - that's quite a project, I'm sure she'll do great!

Cara - wow - glad Spencer is okay.

Mary - good news on your FIL; I hope he continues to improve.

Serena - good to see you too!!
Sorry if I missed anything. I've been super busy at work this week and I'm on vacation next week (just hanging at home; doing spring cleaning, etc.) My computer at home isn't working so I probably won't be around much in the next week. to all!!

Tricia - OUCH! I can't imagine the kind of pain those injuries would cause. I hope you heal quickly.

Lorie - Such a good mommy to sacrifice a night at ASMo! :rolleyes1 I sure hope they appreciate it! We haven't stayed anywhere else, but I have a feeling the boys have bigger requests for next time!
Yuk on the fluid problem for E. Is he still to little for decongestants?

:) My mom and dad are taking us to lunch at La Casa today. Yum, I LOVE Mexican food!!!
Ooooo....La Casa! Did you have a Happy or Sad Burrito? :upsidedow

Kathy- I've been thinking about you, as this will be our 2nd official weekend of riding the bleachers for baseball. We're entering new territory for me - no more rec ball. I relented and allowed DS2 to join a tournament team. Bye bye weekends, right?! So, how are you coping facing a spring with no baseball? Bittersweet, I bet.

Shovan - WOW! I remember biography projects for the boys in 1st grade, but they were nothing like Ms. A's! That sounds like my biggest complaint - parents' homework (with apologies to our resident educators out there). Was that really something she could have realistically completed on her own?

Hope y'all have a good time tonight. Timing just won't work out for me to join the party. Phooey!

Oh, Piglet - run like the wind, lady!

I'm sorry to say your weekends are gone, but hopefully these will be some of the best times of your life.:goodvibes Johnny is having a really hard time adjusting to life without baseball so I think we're going to plan a few weekends in Baton Rouge, we know so many of the boys on the team it will be fun getting together with them.

Yes, from looking at the schedule, I kind of figured that would be the case. Luckily, it seems the other team parents are a good bunch, so we'll be in good company. We're playing locally for the most part, so no cheapo motels in the middle of nowhere! Of course, you'll be my go-to baseball mom when I need laundry advice on removing infield dirt! ;) I see LOTS of :laundy: in my near future!

We had to turn down tix to the Box tonight as well. When you do make a game or three, keep an eye out for our company sign in the outfield. Yours truly was directly involved! Now I need to call in a favor or two to see it myself! Those games should be lots of fun for you & DH since y'all know so many of the players!

Cajunmommy: Enjoy your weekends on the baseball field. I spent years on the fields for my sisters and brother (I had a drivers license and they are much younger than me) and I think that ruined it for me. I found every reason not to sign them up. Other parents aren't particularly nice to teenage big sisters stuck as the driver of one of the kids on the team. Hope your son enjoys himself out there.

Tricia: I was starting to worry about you. Thanks for checking in. So sorry about what happened, that had to be awful! I hope that you are healing and everything turns out fine soon rather than later.

hey gals-
if I didn't say it already...........

Happy Birthday Julie!!!!!!!!!!:wizard:
EPCOT was too cold to go to tonight so moms night out was changed to the Contemporary. We just go to the food court but some gals went to the bar and brought back drinks-and most got desserts. We hung out a while and watched the electrical water pageant from the windows there.

Terry- I messed up the stove badly when I cooked on it last night! Now I need some ceramic cleaner.......;)

Bethany- have a BLAST. I saw huge containers of Dasani water wrapped in plastic on the side of the road tonight. Plus the lights and the lift thing they shoot the gun from to start the race.:goodvibes

Have I told you you how jealous I am?

Us Moms will do anything! ;)

That's a PITA that the dr didn't give you a prescription! If he has fluid, it's likely it will become infected. That's funny that Sienna wanted to be checked out! If she needed too, she would have had a fit. :confused3

This whole President project that A has to do is ridiculous! She has to write a report including dates & 3 accomplishments of the President. Also do a poster & dress like either the President or his First Lady. Not only does she have to write it, but be able to get in front of the class & read the report! This is 1st grade!!! :upsidedow Chris is having a time, trying to figure out, how to have her write this, understand it & be able to read it. How does a 1st grade explain Reaganomics & the fall of Communism. Then get this part of the grade will be on "Eye Contact"! WTH! :upsidedow

I have the outfit. We're borrowing a slim red & white dress from her cousin. I have some pearls (Pearls say First Lady right?) & a couple of hats we'll try out. I'm thinking she is going to struggle with the report, but dressing up part counts for 15 points, so we'll do our best.
wasn't she the "just say no" one?

Tricia, I was so glad to see that you were posting again. Then I read your post. I am so sorry you have been through a rough time. I hope you heal completely from this. I am keeping you in my prayers:hug:

Sheryl, Alexis looks very classy and first lady-ish in her pictures. :thumbsup2

Oh, Piglet - run like the wind, lady!

On non Lenten days, I order the Burrito del Sol dressed with extra onions- I smell delicious:rotfl:. On Friday, I ordered the Shrimp and Crab cakes with Garden rice from the Lenten menu. OMG- you have to try this-sooooo good!

Lori

Thanks for the birthday wishes!!!

How cool watching the water pageant- I'm happy for you but jealous for me!!!

Have I told you you how jealous I am?

You are funny. I cannot tell you how homesick I am. I sat there watching it and was filling up and this mom came and told me that it WILL get better- then I bawled. She felt bad but Paul feels so guilty he takes it so personally and I have not been able to just cry like a baby like I really want/need too.

I know it will get better and I do not mean to whine. I really don't. I just had 10 years of some sort of routine in Covington and I miss that.

And the grass is NOT always greener- esp when it is gonna be filled with roaches soon. I was told they'd be 'waking up' soon. Yes,Cara, I have brought others in on this phobia of mine.:rotfl: I want Paul to take every tree down and at least not have the bushes TOUCH my house at all. I heard they cling to the screen around the pool- great- how am I supposed to enjoy swimming at night if they are out there? I think I need therapy on how to befriend these creatures.........:rolleyes1 I am also couting heavily on the bug guy that works at Disney FT.:wizard:

I told DN7 that she would be the only family member to get a key to our house. So we decided to get her a cool Disney keychain and I found the PERFECT one for her at the Contemporary gift shop. It is a huge gold key and has the castle on it. It is very heavy. I also wanna see if the key can be made into a Tink key from Home Depot or wherever. Our key to the house in Covington couldn't be done. The keychain looks like a key to the castle- it's really cool! I will take a pic soon and post on FB. I may have to get another special key made for visitors.

I spent some time with Bethany and her friend Lori tonight at Downtown Disney. Bethany cracks me up. She seriously reminds me of me before I had kids. She is giddier than my kids in WoD. It was fun to spend time with her. I LOVE having to go meet someone I know down there!

see you later- gonna try a church finally........

Lori

PS- I am going to apply for a seasonal position at WDW. I found out you only have to work 40 hours a year, and then you have access to any park, any time and your immiediate family can get in 6 times a year, plus they will give special passes a couple times a year for a few friends or family members at certqain times. I think my hubby is gonna do it too.
a CM who homeschools told me that on the website you can pick up randome shifts that are needed that week and that is the easiest way to get your 40 hours if you live here. She lived here for 6 months and then her hubby got a job out of state and they had to leave, but she had already gotten her 40 hours in that 6 month period so they came back for vacation and used all thier family days and her pass(ID). They now live here- that was a year ago or something.

hey all - has been a scary week for me not breathing....can finally breathe today! went to dr Tues and got a shot, then stayed in bed Wed and Thurs - thought I would nip it in the bud, but Thurs nite I had to go to the ER cause couldn't inhale enough to use my inhaler :scared1: Fri went to my own doc and meds are now WORKING!!! :cool1:n who knew breathing was so important ;)

had a GREAT time at Drago's last night! missed you all who couldn't come but it was nice being able to talk to everyone and not feel you were leaving anyone out....I love so much getting together with you gals - where doesn't matter as long as I am with my friends :) Thanks Jenn, Lorie and Sheryl (and Jack Jack too!) I had a GREAT time :grouphug:

Tricia - SO sorry you have been suffering ... hugs across the miles to you

OK Bethany, I was shocked and excited to hear you were running also and thought I totally missed that too - have a blast! :cheer2:

Julie- Happy birthday and glad Rie is doing well :) I learned to appreciate my parents SO much at 16 when I went away to school.... I will always treasure that I had the time to have a great relationship with them.

Friday made 12 years since my mom died:sad1:....I HAD to get out of the ER before 3am Fri (which was the time when she died)..I just couldn't think about it. I miss her SO much. She died when I was 29 and I didn't even have Grayce yet. I was blessed though that she was my best friend for 13 years (once I wised up!) but I know she is watching over me (and I swear sometimes I think she is reincarnated in Grayce!)

I truly am blessed today to count you as my friends. God knew what he was doing when we all found this thread. You have truly been my rocks and my sanity especially with everything I have been through in the past few months. I am honored to know you :D

Good morning:) I am up way too early for a Sunday morning.

Kris, I am so glad you are able to breathe! How scary. What a beautiful thing you wrote about your mom. I am sure your mom is very proud of you and her granddaughter when she is watching over both of you.

I was sorry I couldn't make Friday night , but I am glad ya'll had a good time! The food looked great on facebook.

Cara, how is Spencer today?

I'm so sorry you're homesick, I'm sure it will get better every day. You really do need to have a good cry and let it all out.

That is awesome on the seasonal position!!!!!:thumbsup2

I'm with you on missing Mom, mine was my best friend as well. How are you feeling today?

I, too, feel very blessed to have you and everyone else here not only as my friends but my family.:grouphug:

This is from Bethany... she was able to post on one thread but wasn't able to get it over here.

So... That was a L O N G walk I took this morning. It hasn't quite sunk in yet. I was with a friend and we alternated between walking and jogging. We also stopped to take some pictures and we had fun. I was in start corral C; we started 14 minutes after they started timing. The clock at the finish line said 3:42 I think, so that would put my time at 3:28. I wasn't too concerned about time, just that I finished and got my medal!

They would pick up anyone who did not maintain a 16 minute/mile pace. They counted this from the last person to cross the start line in the last corral (E) and E started 14 min after C so we had a bit of grace period. That was nice; took some of the time pressure off!

The course was from Epcot parking lot to MK, through part of MK, back to Epcot and through a bit of that and then the finish was in the Epcot parking lot. I am sore and have a few small blisters but am otherwise fine!

I'm taking a quick nap and then plan to hit the parks...slowly!

Congratulations Bethany. I am very proud of you and the hard work you put into this.

It has been a nice quiet weekend here, no drama with the boys to report yet. I hope it stays that way. I hope everyone had a good time Friday night. We are pulling out the grill tonight. BBQ chicken = yum. Love this weather. I am in shorts, but I need to buy some razors... yikes.:scared1:
