Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Thanks ya'll! I really appreciate it! Windel and Sherry (Corey's mom and dad) still live in Gretna, at least part time- and are really good people! They hunted us down on the cruise so they could say hi and see how we were doing...... just good people. Kinda like all my girls here!:goodvibes

Good morning y'all!

I'm going to donate his morning. He is adorable!!!

Tonight is Rie's first cheering event!!! It's the Jamboree. Pllease keep she and her cheermates in your prayers. They're a bit nervous. Most of the team are first year teammates.

Good Luck tonight! Might we get to see a picture?:goodvibes

Morning Y'all,

Julie, Good luck to Rie & the team!! :cheer2:

Lori, I will go make a donation right now! I hadn't been keeping up with the podcast very much, I did not realize the Julie & Cory's son had down's.

Bethany, Do y'all have a FB thread about our Cork n Canvas get-together? I need to know what to bring & if anyone wants to carpool?

Have a good one!

Y'all have fun tomorrow night!

Julie - She's beautiful!!!! PLEASE feel free to post pics of anything here, we love pics!!!!

If any of you have family or friends in the Baton Rouge area please keep Kyle in mind if you know of anyone looking for part-time help.

Go Rie & Go Tigers! (yeah, I can say that now that I have relatives @ the school. 20+ years ago - too much rivalry! ;))
Great pic of her as well! Hope she has better luck than the cheerleader I know....little Miss Flyer was dropped while practicing....really hoping it's just a bad sprain & not a break! She's frustrated, but OK with it. Knows it comes with the territory. Have a great time @ the Jamboree tonight!

Kathy - I'll keep my ears/ eyes peeled for anything PT that's not the obvious retail / flipping burgers. Plenty of the restaurants in town are always looking for reliable help, but I don't know if that would be compatible with his school hours.

Shovan - Great news = no collar!

Just a quick fly-by here. The extra-curricular schedules have kicked in, so the boys have me running.

Hey Y'all,

Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday evening. I waited forever in the dr's office. But I did get good news!! I can drive WITHOUT that darned neck collar!! Yippee, woohoo!:yay: I haven't driven in over 6 weeks! FREEDOM!!! In 2 weeks I'll start occupational therapy on my hand. Dr wants to hold off longer for physical therapy until after my next visit which isn't until November.:sad1: I kinda bummed about that, but he did say I could walk & swim.

Lauri, How have you been? Still crazy busy? I'm glad to hear that you might get back to DW next Oct! :cool1: We've made Oct our annual trip, we just love F&W, especially the dining events! I'm really excited to get to stay at both WL & BLT in Feb.

Congrats on being able to drive. :woohoo:
Things have actually returned to a more normal life, thankfully.:yay: I'll probably be putting down the deposit Monday on the trip. And I think that from now on, we may only do DW during the F&W. We enjoyed it so much and that time of year just works out well for us. We are still playing with the idea of buying into DVC, but its gonna have to wait a few years.

I think most of the LSU games are probably sold out already. The tickets went on sale to the general public on Saturday morning and by noon on Saturday my friend was harassing me to get back to her so she could buy some tickets before they sold out. We are going on Sept 12th. I really have no idea what I'm getting myself into...:rotfl: Anybody want to clue me in?

My son goes to a game every year with friends and has a blast. You will have a good time, and like Sheryl, I also get goose bumps from watching the band make its appearance. Especially since up until last year, we knew a number of the band kids. DS was in band in HS and a lot of his bandmates went on to LSU. A couple of years ago, the drum major was one of that group.

Tonight is Rie's first cheering event!!! It's the Jamboree. Pllease keep she and her cheermates in your prayers. They're a bit nervous. Most of the team are first year teammates.

Prayers and good thoughts for Rie! Sometimes I really miss my kids being in HS because we so enjoyed going to the football games. She'll do great!!

I know money and time are tight but Ferris Martin's Buddy Walk is the same time that a bunch of us are in Disney!

It's a banner link at the top of a bunch of our pages here on the DIS. Julie and Corey are from Louisiana and Ferris is a lovely little boy..... if you can walk or donate feel free. Rick and I are walking Saturday morning Oct 17.... 100% of the proceeds go to Downs Syndrome Society.

http://www.firstgiving.com/ferrismartin

headed there now!!

Oh no, poor little flyer! It's a long way down from the top of a stunt!

Rivalry? You know where I went to high school? South Lafourche!:rotfl:

Thanks for the compliment on Rie's picture!

Trip:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

My husband gave me pts at the BWV a few years ago for Christmas. While I think it was very sweet, I wish that he'd waited. The points have dropped from $101 to $86 on the resell sites:eek:. I'd tell hubby today, if he asked, which he didn't, to go resell, you get much better deals.

Thanks for the prayers for Rie. We used to go to our elder son's football games and had so much fun! Our younger son played tennis- those crowds were nice but too refined for this coonie( coon's rear end translated for for Piglet) from the boonie!

Awe she is beautiful....:)

Thanks so much! She must look like her birth dad because we have a picture of her birth mom and except for the curly hair (which she straightened) she does not look like her.

Lori(BP)- I listen to the Dispodcast! I do not get to it every week, but they are on my iTouch.... I think I'll be getting to them soon. Usually I get to listen to like 2 episodes at a time. I heare them talking about thier son often. I have abotu 3 friends with Down's children-plus we do echoes on quite a few- they are always so loving and sweet.

We showed the house today! The potential buyers are wanting to take advantage of the $8000 tax credit and that ends at the end of September.
We'll see! The guy that looked at it liked it a lot!

BUT we missed school today due to the last minute scramble of showing the house- and we were JUST getting school started when he called!

Have a good one and see some of you all tomorrow night!

Lori

Hey, sorry I haven't posted on here in a few days. My son, David had the H1N1 type A virus (swine). He started feeling better yesterday, but I kept him home one more day--just to be sure. He is going back to school tomorrow. The teachers have been very nice. They have emailed me some things he should do to keep up.

I am going to have to go back a few pages to catch up with ya'll.

Have a good night everyone:)

Mary, that darn flu has been making the rounds. I'm so happy that your sonm is feeling better. Having nice teachers makes such a HUGE difference because catching up is very hard. Stay well!!!

Evening Y'all,

Sorry for not checking in again today, DH was home working. I went to Parent-Teacher Orientation tonight (for Alexis, Chris asked me to go with her).

Congrats on being able to drive. :woohoo:

Yeah another trip! I'm glad things have settled down for you. You will have to get together with us for one of our local "Meets"!

DD had friends in the band, but I don't think that's why I got (still get) chills from those first few notes!

Don't tell him anything about the better deals! Just be happy to have it. I know we bought our's when the wallet was full. If we had to do it now, it would be a no go for us!

You must be so proud of her! Not only is she is pretty outside, but she sounds like a beautiful girl inside too!:goodvibes

Mary, I'm so glad that David is well! You must have been really worried about him. Prayers for a total recovery!

cajunmommy, I hope the little flyer in your family heals up quickly! It's sad when they can't do something they love. My DD did acro-gymnastics in a trio, the team couldn't finish the year because they dropped thier little "top" & she fractured her elbow. One little hurt but Three very sad girls that year.

Lori, Prayers that you find a buyer very soon. :flower3:

A Tarpon - I remember! I think the rivalry went more like we loved CL and rooted for anybody who was playing THS or SLHS on any particular Friday night. There's not much I miss about high school, but those Friday night football games were fun, especially for this band geek.

Oh, and I might be biased, but I'm glad to see a brunette cheerleader. Is it just me, or do most of the squads seem to favor the blondies?

Lorie - I'll join you in the wishing Disney would stop squandering PINs when I can't go. :headache: We've received a few, and it just bugs me to no end that I can't take advantage of a Fall trip.

Flora - Sorry DS got hit with the bug. What a rotten way to have to start the school year! Hope he feels better quickly. We've been bombarded with notices on handwashing, handling absenteeism, etc. I guess I don't mind the paperwork as long as they don't decide to shut down the school for a handful of cases.

Happy Friday everybody!

Yes, that was the way we had our rivalry too.

On Rie's squad,I think there are only 2 blondes and only 1 is of those is a natural blonde!

Yesterday was my mom's birthday, so I'm taking her to lunch and shopping. See y'all later and have a magical day!

I've seen that you all have been doing some get togethers. I'd love to join in one day.

I agree. I have never gotten a pin code. Well, we finally agree that we can do a trip next year. Don't you know I got a pin code email yesterday for this fall. Its just not fair.

TGIF Gang....

I am pooped today..yesterday was super crazy. I left Jackson at Noon, took Aly to the Dr for 4 where we waited for 1.5 hours before seeing him and didn't get out of there until 6!!  she has an ear infection. We didn't make it to gym because we were both too tired so took her home. DH and I got dressed and headed to Jaime Fox Concert which we enjoyed. :thumbsup2 Got home for 11:30.

Mary I hope he recovers soon. I made sure we used hand saniter the entire time we were at the doctor's office.

Can't wait till this evening for fun and laughs with the gang!!:yay::yay:
