Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Bethany, that is one snazzy new avatar... really cool. Show em' we are all really happy people down here...:thumbsup2

hey gals- i had a blast too and am so for another C&C trip- as long as it is a NOLA type painting. I look at my Oak Alley and still think it needs help.;)

I learned something the other day about St Tammany Parish- we were not part of the Louisiana Purchase. Is this common knowledge and I am the last one to find out? We were considered a FLORIDA parish b/c we were part of the panhandle (somewhat extended) of Florida! I am closer related to Florida than I thought! Well, I AM born and bred in River Ridge, so I am still considered a NOLA girl! And only 40 minutes north of NOLA.

Long day- check out my FB today for more.

Tired and have bible study tonight. I actually got it all read and i am ready!

Terry- hope your weekend was wonderful!

Kristina- hope your days are filled with clarity!

Ries mom- I forgot to tell ya I think you have a beautiful DD

Back to the grind tomorrow:teacher:blech- I am not in school mode at this particular moment, but I hafta be. We are doing school till the Thursday before we leave. No breaks.

Lori

Thanks for the "happy anniversaries"! :goodvibes It does not feel like 2 months. Some days it feels like I've been here forever and other days it feels like I just got here. :confused3

Jamie - I was thinking about going to the zoo today too, but ended up not going anywhere.

Cara - Thanks for the compliment. I should go post on random threads in all categories of the DIS. :rotfl2:

hey gang...today was good until we got home and dd tells me she's cold and starts crying over having an aweful headache which is when i realized she was burning up with a fever of 102. Man could these be a symptoms of her earache or is this the flu? I will take her back to the dr in the morning just to be sure.

Oh no, I hope not the flu. Fletcher was crying yesterday with his ear. Today he said it was fine. Her earache should not be giving her this much trouble after being treated this long. Please tell her to feel better.

Sorry to say, but I was aware that you used to be part of Florida... I learned that in second grade (that Florida used to go all the way to the Mississippi) but it didn't really hit home until I moved here.

Yes, back to the grind for you, but soon enough you will be enjoying that Disney break! :D

Morning Y'all,

We had a nice Sunday. Went to church, then out to lunch with DD. DH & I went to a free wine tasting at World Market after.

Terry, I sort of hoping the antibiotic wasn't doing the job & it's still her ear. At least that's something treatable. Prayers that the dr can help!

PortOC, I hope Fletcher is feeling better today too!

Bethany, Love your new avatar. :thumbsup2 I'm glad you're happy down here! What about your DH, how's he feeling about the move?

Jaime, Sorry your day off sucked.

I enjoyed being with y'all, but wasn't as happy with the painting part. My picture is now sitting on the floor of the spare room facing the wall. I think it was much to difficult of a painting to do in that amount of time. I'd go again but for something much less complicated. I see the Sept calendar is pretty booked already. Did y'all know they opened one of thier franchises on the Westbank? They franchising under the name "Painting with a Twist" here's a link to thier Sept Calendar.

Hey y'all, trying to get back on track here. Hope Aly & Fletcher are feeling better. So happy y'all had a great time Friday!

Terry, it sounds like that flu thing to me, esp if her ear was clearing up. Sorry- hope it is NOT flu and sending prayers!

Cara- hope Fletcher feels better too and no FLU.

Sheryl- I may go to one of those free Saturday classes to straighten mine up a bit. Maybe you could do the same if you are unhappy with it. But I really thought your plantantion was perfect!

Well, we are bringing Haley to the doc today. No fever, but that cough seems worse. She doesn't have it when sleeping, just when upright, so maybe she has a sinus infection? I am more nervous to bring them into a doctors office!:eek:. I am telling them not to touch anything!

My kids are so acclimated to doctors offices and comfortable that they usually ask me for gloves(as balloons) and alcohol(for a port) and those black ear thingys (they use as nails on ALL of ther fingers). I know, insurance is high b/c of US. But I figured when going to Childrens oncology dept, if they make us wait for HOURS with nothing to do, no TV, no nothing, and the things I brought them wore off, that playing with this stuff was the next best thing for entertainment.
Since all of that is behind us, I have had to hold them back from the ear thingy's. Gloves and alcohol, well, go for it. Basically, they just think everything in there can be used as a toy to occupy them! Haley, esp. Ashton has outgrown it.

Rambling and waiting to check thier math and LA.

See ya-Lori

Lori, That painting has me frustrated, I think I'd rather just forget about it! ;)
I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed meeting your girls! They are both just so sweet inside & out!

Haley's cough sounded a lot like the one Alexis has practically all of the time. They keep saying it's just allergies.

After hearing about the letter that went out to hospitals from the CDC, I'd want to keep them away from the dr's office too. Let them put the gloves on thier hands this time!

Well it is the SWINE FLU!!! :sick:They swabbed her nose and pricked her finger. They prescribed Tamiflu and lots of rest and fluids. The Dr. said she can go back on Wednesday but I think I may keep her out all this week just to be safe.

Serena, I can't say enough about tamiflu. It lessened the symptoms of the flu so much for my son last week. I am keeping her in my prayers.

Hey y'all!

Serena- I'm so sorry to hear your DD has swine flu! I hope she feels better soon.

Cara- I hope Fletcher feels better too and that it is not the swine flu!

I have to admit, I'm terrified of the swine flu hitting this house with two little ones. DS is too young to even get a flu shot this year! I'm extra leery now about taking them in public around large crowds, but we can't live in a bubble either...

I would love to do a painting next time! I really want to do one of the funky NOLA house paintings. I'll keep my eye on the October calendar and see if anything good pops up. Sheryl, I agree that it was probably not enough time to paint Oak Alley- I know I wouldn't have been able to in that short time.

So we're going to see Sesame Street Live in October. I'm forcing DH to come with us- I'm not suffering through that alone! :rotfl: DD is soooo excited about it though- I just had to take her!

Erik is doing goodand is going through another growth spurt. Seems like all he has been doing the last few days is eating and sleeping. I'm so tempted to give him some rice cereal because he seems like is starving all of the time, but I know not until 4 months. He's going through so much formula though that I bought some in bulk online to save some money.

We're having underneath our floors foam insulated next week (our house is raised on piers). I'm determined not to freeze again this winter! This old, damp and drafty house is miserable when it gets cold. The insulation guy said it was very "porous" underneath our house (meaning it has lots of gaps and cracks- I told you Katrina washed away the dirt insulating this place...) so we should save 40-60% on our electric bill- that would be nice!

oh dear! I am so sorry dear. what is the incubation time on that? maybe the alcohol killed all our germs....not sure what signs to look for...

Thanks :goodvibes He likes it too.

I think you're being too hard on yourself about it...

Their website is not working for me...but it's not your link. I even googled it and it's not coming up. I'll have to check later.

I'm glad that Erik is thriving!!!

I miss my drafty old house.

Cara, how's Fletcher? Better I hope:hug:

I started Kyle early on rice cereal, I couldn't stand feeling like he was starving and boy did it work.

1st- hugs for you!
2nd- I am aggravated.

why?
B/c we went to the doc today and Haley has a sinus infection. Of course we waited in that waiting room longer than I hoped but it was soooo busy.
But why am I aggravated? B/c i asked her about the flu going around (now you know I LOVE my pediatrician) and how if you get tamiflu within 48 hours it shortens the life span. She agreed but told me the CDC is asking doctors to NOT give tamiflu and just to ride out the virus b/c the NEXT flu season is gonna be worse than this and so they are asking to reserve the tamiflu. She said the tamiflu is reserved for high risk kids like Ashton used to be. Alright, that is understandable, but OMG I hope we get tamiflu if my kids come down with it! Like Terry did, and Cara.

IF my kids get the flu, I am gonna kick and scream and beg for the stuff like a baby.

I am actually not feeling well at all right now. Tired. Gotta cook, but don't wanna. Gotta go pick up Haley's scrip and feel like just getting food out but don't wanna spend the money b/c I JUST went grocery shopping!

Lori
