We've booked a stay in May, but now the kids are in higher grades and missing a week + isn't a good idea. It’s been an “owner priority period” for the past several years.

Extra Holidays is Wyndham’s official rental arm. Your reservation won’t be cancelled. We always rent a car, but I also have free parking as an AP holder and I have young kids so child seats are an issue. If you don’t have young kids and have to pay for parking then I might consider rideshare.I just booked a 2 bedroom with ExtraHolidays.com. I have never stayed off property before. My SIL is an owner at WBC which made me want to look into it.
I am getting a little worried after reading this thread that a few pages back that our reservation might get canceled. We have a 2 bedroom.
Anything that we should know b4 we stay here. We are DVC members but this is a spur of the moment trip and I just need to get away.
How does everyone get to the parks ? What is easier uber or rent a car? I have always used Disney transportation so I am lost on the easiest was to get around
I’m renting from VacationUpgrades for the week before Easter and got a phone call from Ken. Apparently Club Wyndham is restricting all commercial renting which is not through their official arm extraholidays. He offered to be available on property during checkin which I agreed to, as a safeguard to our upcoming rental. He and his wife are now all retired which is unfortunate since they are so very good.It looks like they're cracking down on commercial renters again. After seeing this thread, I decided to check out what Vacation Upgrades was up to. They have stop renting. They had "retired" around a year ago but then decided to keep going. But I guess either things got too hot for them, or Wyndham actually threatened them to stop or lose their points. Too bad, Vacation Upgrades was reliable and inexpensive.
We finally had to stop going to WBC. The blackout dates are simply too many and coincide with all major holidays. This is after 10 years of coming to this resort. This is the design of course but it’s not going to force me to buy a unit there on the resale market. I’m not in love with the place that much.
But on the flip side, it forced us to try other properties, and so far, we have been having a blast. We just recently stayed on a Disney resort for the first time ever last week. Being a FL resident, they run specials and it was cheaper to stay on property at a moderate resort (Port Orleans) than it was as the Marriott Saban Palms. Getting the on-property perks made going to the parks a whole lot easier.
I’ll miss WBC and will continue to check it’s availability but there are so many places to stay near Disney it just isn’t a big deal,
You said during restricted times owner can have 2 guest per year, so can they have unlimited guest during non restricted dates?Just so everyone knows, owners can use two guest confirmations per year during the restricted dates. It isn't a total ban.

We've only been going since 2021, we've always noticed that the resort is busy. All hours of the day. People are always out. I think also, since covid, that a lot of people just go to enjoy the resort. The parks are too expensive for many. Here now. Haven’t been since 2018 and it was full but few were around during the day it seemed. I am surprised how many more people are here during the day instead of the parks.
It is sad. I wonder if the same will be applied to vacation strategy. I really don’t understand enough about this businesses to know how they operate. Are they a third-party renter? It looks like they're cracking down on commercial renters again. After seeing this thread, I decided to check out what Vacation Upgrades was up to. Just booked with VS again for a non blackout period. Never an issue renting at least once a year thru them in the past.It looks like VS is (probably) a point manager. The volume is high enough that it seems unlikely to be a first-party landlord. That makes them harder to track and shut down, because most rentals probably come from different owners.
I do note that they removed the "our team" from their site, so they are at least trying to make it harder for Wyndham.
