Metro New Orleans DISers - check in!!! - 03/2009

Hiya gals!

Just stopped in to say hey.... and Red Maple has AYCE crab on Monday nights and it was goot! Worth every penny!;) Although I'm not sure I could find it on my own.:lmao:

LORI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You look busy just from your tickers, girl!

Where are you? How have you been? questions questions...... Just curious- we miss you 'round here, it has been a while!

We are moving to freaking Texas, if you didn't know already.... Houston area. Kinda bittersweet over here in my neck of the woods. But for now, we are going along as usual till the house sells. PLUS we will be in WDW in 18 days!!!!!!!!!!!!

See ya- going to science class with the girls-Lori

Morning Y'all,

Thanks for all the congrats on the new trip!

I'll bet he had a blast getting to classes. You know with all the gorgeous girls on campus, he might be calling for Ben Gay to rub on his sore neck!!!

A trip:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:
secret.gif
I won't tell Alexis.

:lmao: That's funny!

Love that secret smiley!

I wouldn't be concerned about crowded parks either with those two resorts. Great news!!!!!:thumbsup2

Kyle called me in between classes. The highlight of his day was sitting next to Anthony Ranaudo, one of LSU's pitchers, in is first class. So far he's happy with his classes, hopefully I'll get more details when he gets back to his apartment this afternoon.:goodvibes

Sheryl - I've been wanting to tell you that Rouse's is now selling prosciutto again. A LOT of people complained and they brought it back to the store.:thumbsup2

The people complaining was probably You, Me & Angelina! Thanks for letting me know, I had given up on it!

Yep, Kyle had a good first day but he was supposed to call me when he got home and I hadn't heard from him so I just called and he was sound asleep....gee whiz I've been telling him his system was going to go into shock when he had to get up before 10AM.:rolleyes1. OK, I promise I'm not going to bore y'all with every detail of Kyle's life, just the major developments.:goodvibes

I'm glad Kyle had a good day! I guess Julie's right, he must have tired himself out checkin out the girls ! Also the excitement of being in class with baseball players!

Angelina would always call me "when she was walking through the quad" to tell me what football/baseball player was in her class or that she met that day! Go ahead & tell me all about Kyle, I can promise you I won't be bored!:goodvibes

it is amazing what doesn't bother you when you go often enough and stay in a COOL hotel! Sounds fun! Alexis will be thrilled..... when she finds out!
Good news about the aide! And your hubby is GREAT!

We have 19 more days!!!:banana::cool1:

I changed some ADR's-:scared1:. Skipping Tony's to head back to WCC- we just loved it and Tony's menu was sorta skimpy for kids. It is gonna be interesting with Ash being considered an adult. She is my picky eater. I have a feeling Haley will be having her adult meals- she is a more adventurous eater.

BTW- how does it work at Teppan Edo, with DDP? I am gonna look like a newbie if I don't get how it all works:eek:.

Lori

It's funny, because I had already told DH that I didn't think we should go for Mardi Gras because it was also President's Week. I didn't even mention that when he told me where we'd be staying!

I know Teppan Edo has some DDP exclusions but I don't know any more than that. Sorry, did you check the DDP thread sticky?

Is WCC something I should book for our Feb. trip?? I'm kind of scared of it. :confused3 Is it really loud?

Hi BP/Lori!! We miss you! Y'all sure do have a lot of cruises booked! :cool1:

I forgot to tell y'all some of my good news! I put out so much depressing stuff that I need to post the good stuff too.

Our aide (the one that had knee surgery last week) will be back tonight!

The really good news. While DBob was on the phone with DVC checking on something for our October trip he booked another one!! He asked about availability for Mardi Gras & found out we could get WL for 2 night & Bay Lake Tower for 3!! :cool1::banana: We'll be taking Alexis along, but don't tell her! She'll drive everyone nuts wanting to know when is February. I'm guessing it's going to be super crowded because it's also President's week but we'll be a 2 cool resorts so I'm not going to stress about that.

Good news about your aide. And GREAT news about the trip! We love WL and DH said after last trip staying at All Stars that he didn't want to go back unless we could sat at a WL or at least nicer hotel. Bay Lake Towers looks so nice, but DH thinks they are too modern. It looks like we might finally be going back next year in October.

Is WCC something I should book for our Feb. trip?? I'm kind of scared of it. :confused3 Is it really loud?

I'd say yes, book it. We really enjoyed it and didn't find it too noisy or annoying. It will really depend on your wait staff for the fun stuff; ours didn't really get too carried away, which was fine as my daughter probably would have walked out!! :rotfl: But it was fun watching everything go on around us:lmao:

Too cool! I can understand that excitement!

I knew you were headed to Texas, but wasn't sure where. It's been awhile- computer problems at home kept me off (I hate Cox internet by the way), Rick got me a new laptop and I just got the modem for it- so I should be connected now.

We're getting ready for F&WF in Oct with a 4 night cruise to celebrate the end of the third quarter- work has been killer- I'm definitely getting payback for being home those 6 mos when I was at Entergy!

The DIS Unplugged podcast group is doing a meet and with free rooms at Holiday Inn and free tickets on Southwest and the APs- we decided to go for my birthday in December.

And, I guess the big news....we're looking into relocating to Orlando. Maybe in April. Somewhere near the world. I'm just tired of the crime and grime and bickering here with nothing getting done. If we're only home on weekends anyway I'd rather be close to WDW. We have friends here in NOLA that can put us up a weekend a month or every 6 weeks or so. So I've been researching that some.

See? Nothing really going on at all! :rotfl2:

Hey y'all!

Hey Lori (BP)! Good to hear from you! I hear ya on the crime, grime and bickering- I was just telling DH the other day that all it seems that the City Council does is fight, waste money, and file lawsuits. It is truly sad.

Kathy- Sounds like Kyle had a good first day! :thumbsup2

Sheryl- that is wonderful about the new trip!!! :cool1: It is my dream to stay at the WL one day (along with the Poly- when I win that lottery!) I'd forget about the crowds too!

Lori- WCC sounds like a lot of fun, and the food looks really good in the food porn. Not sure about Teppan Edo and the DP...I'm kind of curious about that myself.

Speaking of that evil old Disney, I got another dang pin code email for free dining in either October or November. I swear, they are practically FORCING me to book a trip!! :rotfl:I always get tons of offers of discounts when I can't go, but watch, I won't get one offer for when we go in May!:headache:

I hope y'all have fun painting- I hope I can go to the next one!

Hi BP/Lori!! We miss you! Y'all sure do have a lot of cruises booked! :cool1:

WCC was empty when we went in Feb'08. It was a late lunch or early dinner(3pm) but still, like 5 tables filled in the place. We are going at 9pm this time-AHHHHH!!!! So late, but well worth it. I usually like dinner at 7-8pm, but whatever! We are on vacation.

Lori- that sounds AWESOME!!!!!

I'm forever unplugging and plugging in the modem to get it to reset. Gotta love Cox...although I had the same problem with both Verizon AND Cablevision in NYC.

Good luck with the move! A friend of mine just moved to Celebration. There's a lake in front of her house and every few days there's a new alligator picture posted on facebook.

I was waiting to leave today and started talking to this guy at work who moved here from upstate NY. He said he can't believe how the people up there can't get anything done. As if it's SOOOO different from here!

So today was the first day of kindergarten. Not only did they roll out the red carpet, they had a live brass band!

Oh and something curious has happened with my phone. I called to complain about the service and now I have service. :confused3 Not GREAT service, and it's still no service in the vast majority of the building, but I at least have one bar in a few spots inside and most spots outside. So I'm thinking I might just stay with T-Mobile but downgrade my plan since I'm not using it anywhere near the amount I was. Still not sure what to do. :sad2:

I think that I'm going to cancel my trip. Whenever I have a trip booked, I get zero offers. When I don't, :yay:

I have a love/hate relationship with my cellphone too!

ok, some advice....

being new to the DDP, have any of you had a need for a fridge? I usually bring my plug in ice chest for my ham, milk, juice, cokes and waters,so I am at a loss. Do i bring my plug in???? It is not to big for SWA (I have called and measured 3x!)but I am not sure it is worth it. Gosh, we aren't driving OR bringing food(a few snacks) but we do have a 30 minute stop at a grocery b/c we are doing the town car thing. I am planning on getting waters, cokes and capri suns( or something like that). Should I just pay for the fridge in the room? Thing is, my frugal side says "take the plug in" since it doesn't cost us anything, but then I do not have a travel dolly and buying that sorta defeats the purpose. Sorry, I AM frugal at heart........ can't help it! My goal in life the past 10 years is to save enough for Disney every couple years and keep working PRN. So, in order to GO, I am just that way! I just like to be cost effective-blame it on my hubby, if you will! His motto is, "just b/c it's on sale doesn't mean we gotta have it" and while I agree, when it comes to things like shoes and kids clothes, it can be hard to pass up!

Lori, are any of you on medication that requires refrigeration? If you are or if you have a medical need for one, they will give the fridge to you for no charge.

Lori - WE didn't need a fridge. But we only eat 2 meals a day, so we finish our whole portion at dinner. We had an ice chest, mostly for drinks during the drive, so Tony put a new bucket of ice in there each day so he could have cold cokes for the room when we got in at night (we like a shot of caffine before we go to bed:rotfl:). All those prepackaged CS desserts came in handy when waiting for shows/parades.

well, that is what we thinking of having for- cokes and waters. It is crazy how THIS is what i am going back and forth about! I am not thinking leftovers just b/c I am not carrying ti around. of course, if there are any from our 9pm ressie at WCC, we could bring them back, but unsure we'd eat them.

aaarrrrrggggggpirate:-Lori

Lori, isn't it nice though?? I am so excited for you to go and get back for a mini report... just hope it goes fast for me and slow for you.

Bead Pirate: If you do move to Orlando, be sure to do your research and crime stats. The biggest problem in the Orlando area is that there is a very evil underbelly beneath that beautiful facade and you can't always tell when you have meandered into a dangerous n'hood. Even big exclusive gorgeous n'hoods at times. Of course if you are like me, you don't really worry about it cause if it is gonna happen, it is gonna happen. Just a heads up though.

I am amazed at how getting up an hour early has made all the difference for our family. We have a much friendlier house, the dog is getting a proper walk, and we leave full and early. The tone for the day is set at calm, relaxed and content. But the REAL reason I want to keep this up is because I figure it will be nice to go to Disney and have sleeping until 7:30 count as sleeping in... how bad am I?

Sheryl... yipee on another trip for you:yay:

Bethany: you ain't seen nothing yet... just wait!

morning NOLA! wow haven't been up this early to be able to say good morning before...

started taking a new medication yesterday, with all the great side effects that entails. dry mouth (I think i drank a gallon yesterday) and insomnia. been awake since 4 and can't go back to sleep. :(

excited for all of you with upcoming trips....and agree with Cara about Orlando's "hidden side". we actually stopped and watched regular TV while there in December and it was almost like watching NOLA TV....kind of shocked me because you are so cocooned at Disney.

still waiting on the refi to go through. if it happens to I might just jump one of those dining things! no no no must...wait..to...April....

we need to start thinking of a meet in end of September maybe?

Hate dry mouth!! What meds?

The thing that I cannot stand about WDW resorts is the crappy tv. I've learned to despise that chirpy Stacy! We've booked at the Dolphin a bunch of times because we can at least order pay per view movies if we're not at the parks in the evenings.

Fingers crossed and prayers said for the refi for y'all.

We're going April 23.

Good morning NOLA!

Kristina - Sorry about the dry mouth and insomnia, hopefully it won't last too long.

I'm up for a late September meet!:thumbsup2

Happy Hump Day.

Cara what in the world were you doing up so late girl???

Kristina - I HATE dry mouth...eating hard candies helps. :goodvibes
