mckey bars

I usually won't spend the money for one at WDW, but I enjoy ordering them from room service on the ship.

For us, it is just a treat that we would have to pay almost $5 each for at Disneyland. So ordering them for free on the ship is just a novelty ;) We made a tradition of ordering them from room service and then eating them on the verandah as we pull away from Castaway Cay (or a different port if we don't stop there). It is a silly tradition but makes for fun pictures on each cruise.

okay, I guess i'm the odd man out. how can you not think the taste is amazing. its not just vanilla ice cream, its the creamiest, richest vanilla ice cream there is. the taste is to die for. yes, it taste like a dove bar but again, it is high end ice cream and not your everyday briers brand.
if you can't taste the difference than your not eating it right. go to the ice cream bar, eat that crap and leave the mickey bars for me. :yay:

I am in the group that loves Mickey ice cream bars. I order them every night on the cruise as I am usually not fond of the regular desserts. In my family, whenever one of us is in a Disney park or on a Disney cruise, we always send a picture of ourselves eating a Mickey bar to others in our family. A Mickey bar in my family represents the magic of Disney.

Mickey bars have nostalgia for me and are one of my favorite treats. I can't take very cold stuff so the fact that they melt quickly is a plus. I imagine other lovers feel the same, nostalgia.

The ice cream is quite creamy with a nice thin and tasty layer of chocolate. And it's Mickey Mouse. Nothing fancy, but good. Our DS had one daily on our Disney Magic cruise a few years ago (he was 6 at the time). He loved them. When at Disney World, I feft like I just had to get one just once as its Disney. I do quite like them and a picture of it even made it into our Disney World photo book.

We order Mickey bars from room service quite often on our cruises, maybe 3 or 4 times, often after returning from a shore excursion.. Cold and refreshing, delivered right to our tired hungry mouths.

We ordered them twice on our WBTA and both times my mom's Mickey Bars were old and the ice cream part was icy. After that she didn't want to get them anymore, which was too bad as she enjoyed them on other trips. Both of mine were fine.

Things get built up and they may are may not be as good as you had hoped. Never had a Mickey Bar, but everyone on these boards about the time we cruised Disney the first time raved about the room service chocolate chip cookies with milk before bed, and about the "huge" shrimp at the embarkation lunch buffet. The cookies were fine, but mass baked variety. And, maybe because one of the specialty stores here used to carry shimp that weighed 12 to 16 ounces per shrimp, I'm not even sure what they served on board even would be considered Jumbo.

No offense, but are you over 10? Then you probably have more evolved tastes than their target audience. My 4 and 5 year olds were blown away by them, mainly because they were actually allowed to have dessert, but I wouldn't have thought of ordering one myself.
I will hang my head in shame next time I order a Mickey bar at Animators Palate.

:raising hand: I can't say I get worked up about Mickey bars either. They are good, definitely on a Dove bar level, and they're shaped like Mickey, which is cute. But I'm just not really an ice cream bar fan in the first place -- I hate a dessert I have to worry about melting and getting messy.

We love getting the chocolate chip cookies and milk before bed. They're not extraordinary cookies, per se, though they're huge and tasty. It's just the novelty and fun of having as many as you want brought right to your room. I assume for Mickey bar fans it's that novelty, too.
