MAYbe we should go back to Disney World-A May 2012 PTR;6/7 Link to TR-Post#592; p. 40

Love the countdown calendar!! 39 days is awesome!! :yay:

Thanks! 38 days is even better....;)

Very cute countdown Michelle! I really need to get working on ours. :thumbsup2

Thanks, Leanne! :)

Your countdown is so cool next to my boring one!
Thank you! But, I'm sure yours is not boring! :)

I love your countdown calendar! I haven't even done one for this trip but I know it would pale in comparison to your's. Our's always look halfway done. :rotfl:

Thanks, Lisa! :)

Great countdown calender! And I know what you mean about reusing supplies. I've recycled my countdown numbers about 3 times, already.:rotfl:

I like that your countdown is on your fridge, where everyone can see it. I never know where I should put a big countdown like that, so that's something I'm going to keep in mind for the future.:thumbsup2

Thanks! We like seeing it every morning when we come in for breakfast. It's a fun way to start the day! :thumbsup2

ACK, you just made me shudder, all the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and a cold chill run down my spine!

ETA: I love the countdown calendar!

 I understand how you feel about the bird thing!

Thanks on the calendar! :)

Cute countdown calendar (and :thumbsup2 for recycling), and what fun first-day plans! The Poly and watching Wishes from the beach ... it sure sounds like a dream trip to me! And that's only the first day, LOL.

Thanks! I love pulling those Mickey heads out of the bag when I have a trip coming up! :)

I hope the first day goes as smoothly as planned!

I don't really ride EE. I have done it a couple of times, but the backward riding really messes my equalibrium up and I'm sick for the rest of the day. So if some of the big people want to go I can stay back with grandma (my mom) with the littles :) Yipes Littles are so cute they "trick" me into buying them things, or it's just cause I love too:rotfl:
Guess who may see you at dinner depending on what time we get in and shhh. . . guess which resort we are moving too:lovestruc
And Wishes! on the beach, ahhh. . .wdw vacation!!!

Those cute little ones have a way of talking us into a lot of stuff, don't they? ;)

I saw on your PTR that we may be running into each other....A LOT! Congrats on your resort change! :thumbsup2

Love the Countdown -- now start peeling off those Mickey heads!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Jackie! :) I am proud to report that three of the head have already been moved off the fridge!

Your countdown calendar is adorable, what a great idea! :cool1: I always want to do a calendar with those Mickey heads but I can never think of a good way to use them! :rotfl:

Thanks! :)

DAY 2---Monday, May 28 (Memorial Day Holiday)

We’re heading to Epcot on this fine Monday!

Photo0570.jpg

This picture is from our May 2010 trip.

Park hours are 9-9. Hopefully with the early and restful evening before, we will be able to be dressed and out of the room by 8:15. I love the walk from the Poly over to the TTC. We’ve always been in the Tokelau longhouse, and it is usually just a five-minute walk (longer when you come back in the evening, though!), and then board the Epcot monorail.

With Test Track out of commission at Epcot, I’m sure we will be part of the mass that moves to Soarin’ immediately upon entering the park. Two options here--- (1) Grab a fastpass and move on to another attraction OR (2) Ride stand-by and then take a fastpass when we come off of the ride. ---This is the option we usually choose, but that was when we were allowed to come back later at any time and use our FP. Now with the FP enforcement, this trip will have a bit of a learning curve in it for me! :headache:

I’m going to assume that we ride stand-by, and grab a FP on the way out. If that’s the case, I’m sure we will go over to The Seas with Nemo. Our favorite part is after you exit the Nemo part, and you can look at all the exhibits. We will definitely want to see Turtle Talk with Crush. This always amazes my husband and me! The kids and I could stand and watch the dolphins for hours, so we will have to remember to be conscious of our FP return times---that will be a hard one for us!

Other must do’s in Future World include:

*Character Connection---I would love to get over here and see all the characters in one (cool) spot!

*Imagination with Figment---I know this gets a bad rap, and even I admit that it’s not my favorite. It’s just a sentimental thing for me. Even though it’s different. It’s one thing I remember from visiting when I was a kid—my younger sister was obsessed with Figment! Besides, Reid really likes this for some reason!

*Mission Space---Kevin and the kids like this one. I rode the orange side (back in the day when there was only ONE side, so it wasn’t even named the orange side!) back in 2005, and had avoided this ride ever since until last year. The family convinced me to try the milder side with them-and it wasn’t that bad. The stress I had from worrying about it while in the line was probably worse than the ride itself!

*Soarin’---Again! I hope to do it several times during our day here!

*Spaceship Earth---A classic! We typically save this for later in the late afternoon when the line has disappeared, and we’re tired, and need a cool rest for 20 minutes!

With Test Track closed, I’m sure we won’t have a problem being ready to head into World Showcase at 11 a.m. We typically start out in Mexico and work around clockwise. But I’ve been wondering if that’s the place most people start. Are we programed to start on the left and go clockwise direction? Anybody ever read anything that tells which side of WS is the least crowded side to begin on? :confused3

In World Showcase, we will wander through all the countries. We love checking out the pavilion in Mexico---It’s so beautiful. It’s fun checking out all the market stalls and trying on the sombreros.

In Norway, I’m sure we will ride Maelstrom.

IMG_0638.jpg

In China, I hope we’re able to catch a performance of the acrobats. These young people are so talented---very amazing!

I love wandering through Germany. Of course, the men have to stand and look at the train village for way too long!

I think the buildings in Italy are beautiful!

At the middle-we will be in our home country-America.

IMG_1026.jpg

Voices of Liberty are our favorite. My DH is pretty sentimental, so whenever they sing anything patriotic, he gets a little teary-eyed. Watching the American Adventure show is always inspiring.

We’ll skip through Japan in the afternoon, because we’ll be back later closer to dinnertime.

In France, we might need a snack in the bakery there---maybe a napoleon?

Everyone always wants to have their picture made in the phone booth over in the UK!

IMG_1043.jpg

As far as lunch goes that day, we don’t have a definite plan. We’ll just wait until we are hungry, and see what’s near by. I would like to eat at Sunshine Seasons, but if that means too much backtracking-then forget it! Epcot is HUGE, and I don’t want to be exhausted before the day's over.

Later in the evening, we will go over to Japan.

IMG_1040.jpg

We have a dinner reservation that night at Teppan Edo. We ate there during our 2010 trip, and my family really enjoyed it. It’s really no different than any other hibachi style Japanese restaurant we can eat at around home, but everything at Disney is better!
IMG_1035.jpg

After eating, we will probably want to look in the Mitsukoshi store. On our last trip, we went in the Mitsukoshi store for the first time---WOW! That place is huge, and I’m sure we will have fun looking at all the stuff in there again.

I think we will watch Illuminations that night at 9, since this is our only scheduled Epcot day for our trip. I know I’m in the minority here on these boards, but Illuminations is actually our least favorite of the nighttime shows at Disney.

IMG_1061.jpg

Right now, Disney is keeping the Land Pavilion (SOARIN’) open until 10-so I’ll be curious to see if they keep that going during our trip. Currently Disney is not even publishing that in the Times Guide, so the majority of folks don’t even know it’s open, resulting in non-existent lines. If they’re still keeping it open, and it’s still not publicized too well, keeping the lines down, then we may try to ride Soarin’ one more time after Illuminations.

Afterwards, it will be a monorail ride back to the TTC, and a much longer ;) walk over to our longhouse at the Poly!

Cute picture! My 'criss-cross applesauce' days are long past. I can do it, but it hurts. ;)

I will be out of school this day, so you can believe I will be thinking of you guys having fun in Epcot all through the day!

Test Track being down will make things a little crazier there, for sure. Soarin' is my favorite ride in any park, so  for doing it multiple times.

Hearing Voices of Liberty is always a treat.

Coincidentally, I have been thinking a lot of doing Teppan Edo again, but I don't know why it keeps calling to me. We enjoyed it, but other restaurants have been as good and/or better, so I don't know why I have Japanese on the brain.

We can spend a lot of time in The Seas, too. :thumbsup2 There is much to see there other than just the ride and Turtle Talk. I love the little gift shop there, but I wish they would expand it to add a lot more educational stuff, since that is a perfect area for that.

Love your plans (and your pictures!)!

My main concern is if you ride Soarin' first, FPs may be gone by the time you get off the ride. I just recently read a TR (from Spring Break) where they pulled a FP around 9:30 and it was for LATE that night (I don't recall the exact time). It kinda scared me ... but I can't state any other variables that may have been thrown into the mix and compare it to yours. Perhaps you should consider looking at FP return times and the lines to get a FP before you hop into the queue ... just to be safe. ::yes:: Especially with TT being down, FPs may go even quicker since there won't be a flood of people to that direction.

Fingers are crossed it will all work out for you, however you go about your day! :goodvibes

I'm so over the moon about the change to Poly:love: Now it's even harder to wait til we leave, which results in me acting like this  for 35 more days ;)
We start from the Mexico side as well, but I thought we were "programmed" to go to the right, oh well! Can't wait to do WS shopping, and we going to try to snack around the world. . .good thing two of the littles seem to have hollow legs :rotfl2:
I'm not much of an Illuminations person either. I've even volunteered to take a Little or two back to the resort while the rest of the family enjoys it and I can try to beat the mass exodus out of the park. Though knowing I only have to ride the monorail to the TTC and then either hop the Poly monorail or just walk back "home" at the end of the night, it sounds so peaceful ;)
Can't wait to meet you :goodvibes (you should be safe this day--we'll be at AK in the morning and then Ohanas for dinner).

Hi Michelle! I saw your post on another thread and I had to follow your link on over because I see you're a teacher, from Alabama, and a Bama fan - 3 things we have in common! Well, add Disney fan to that list and you've got 4!

I'm enjoying your PTR. It was fun to look back at all your previous trips and to read your upcoming trip plans. I would love to stay at the Poly someday, so I'm looking forward to your TR to see some photos from there! I absolutely LOVE your countdown calendar. What a great way to add to the anticipation and excitement of an upcoming trip! :thumbsup2

I don't know which side most people start on when touring the WS... but we've always started on the right, working our way around to Mexico. Reason being the left side is the only one with rides... if we'd started with those, my kids wouldn't have wanted to continue to the other countries, LOL!

Touring plans suggested a clockwise WS tour in at least one plan, but in at least one other they suggested starting on the opposite end and going counter clock wise...so I guess it's a toss up? I haven't looked at all of the Epcot TP though so I'm not sure which method is more popular.

Last year, on instinct, we went clockwise..and I feel like that is the way that most of the traffic was going, so I am going to guess that going CCW might avoid some early crowds. Either way, an hour or two in I would bet it's all pretty even.

I think we *have* to start CW again this year, because I *have* to have some churros in my life during lunchtime! lol

Also - I'm not sure if divulging TP's advice is allowed, if it's not...someone let me know and I will edit my post! :)

LOVE your countdown calendar. I've wanted to make one but haven't had time. Your day at Epcot looks fantastic!! You'll be at EPCOT the day before us. I was having the same dilemma about Soarin' FP. Don't know if we should ride then grab FP or vice-versa :confused3 I'm excited for Teppan Edo, we'll eat there the night after you! Also, thanks for the hint about the Land Pavilion being open later!:thumbsup2 We'll have to check that out on our first night there, won't matter on our second day since they have EMH.

Yeay for Epcot plans! They look perfect! I will be eagerly awaiting to see how the whole FP works out for you with Soarin'.

Ooh...your Epcot day sounds fantastic! I love Turtle Talk, too! Hoping we can get D there this trip!! :thumbsup2

Your day at Epcot sounds fantastic! I added Voices of Liberty to our Epcot days (have never seen them) and I cannot wait to see them....thanks for the reminder:worship:

Love looking at your pics from your past trips:goodvibes

Your Epcot day looks awesome! :thumbsup2 I'm not sure how the Soarin' FP situation is going to work either now that TT is closed, and we have to actually come back during our time! :scared1: And I need to ride Soarin' multiple times during my trip, so I hope it's not too bad! And I heard that they are keeping Soarin' open until 10 but not telling people, that is so weird! Disney is being so strange lately! :rotfl:

Your WS plans sound like fun, I love exploring the countries! American Adventure is one of my favorites! And dinner at Teppan Edo will be great! :thumbsup2

How did I miss this the last six weeks? I am so sorry that I haven't been reading it... because it's so good!

Getting caught up now... I'm half through but my ADHD is in full swing and I'm also editing photos, doing laundry and listening to 48 Hours mystery. So I thought I'd post and then go back and read. ;)
