MAYbe we should go back to Disney World-A May 2012 PTR;6/7 Link to TR-Post#592; p. 40

Yesterday I paid off our trip because today is.....

party: party: 45 DAYS!!! party: party:

Congrats on paying off your trip and being only 45 days away from your trip!

:wizard: It won't be long now ... next thing you know you'll be in the 30's, then the 20's, then the teens and then you'll be here!!! :wizard:

Holy Crumtasmo!!! I didn't realize we were that close until I saw your post about being 45 days away. I need to get my behind in gear, dang it.

Congrats on paying off your trip!!!

I don't know why, but I'm always so jealous of people that live 10-11 hours away from Disney! It seems like such an easy drive to me! I live in CT, and we used to drive all the time when I was a kid and it's a 20 hour drive! There is just no way to do that straight through!

I would prefer to fly, but flights for five people drive the cost of an already expensive vacation way up. Even with gas as high as it is, it's still WAY cheaper to drive it.

My vote (like it counts, LOL!) is to go to to EofS for dinner! I ate there twice on my trip last summer... yes, it's that good! :thumbsup2

I really want to try EoS! I'm a bread girl, and the pictures I see make me want to crawl in my computer and eat it all!

Ooh...I'd be hard pressed to pick between Buffalo Wild Wings and EoS. I love EoS, but DS thinks BWW has the "bestest chicken in the whole wide world" ;)

My kids and DH love BWW, but we have one here where we live, and I just get tired out with it. But my middle daughter could eat there every other day!

It's nice to know about that Marriott. We've stayed off-site a couple of times on night one, too. Last time, we did go over to DTD to go head and get into Disney mode, and we ate at Earl of Sandwich. Like you, we were up early the next day to get checked in and make it official. :thumbsup2

I'n betting Reid will want to swim. That's the one thing we did at our off-site resort. We swam, and the girls fell asleep quickly and slept well.

That's the plan---check in early at the Poly and get those park tickets so we can head right to a park!

You're exactly right about Reid wanting to swim---That boy would stay in a pool if we'd let him! :thumbsup2

Up here in Boston, they are opening an Earl of Sandwich branch. If you are faint of stomach, stop reading here and go to the next post.

The location is a building that was formerly a public men's restroom in the center of Boston Common. :scared1:

Now that's just a little weird and gross in a way! I guess you could have a lot of fun telling people you were eating in the restroom! ;)

Sounds like a good first day!!! Sounds a little familiar ;) Though our second day we don't hit Disney until that night :( And I'm still jealous that you'll be at the Poly, but I'll get over it :rotfl2:
I wondered how my dad would drive all day and then swim with us girls in the pool when we'd get to the hotel at night. It now sinks in that a tired dad can't really sleep/rest with hyped up giggly girls, but can with tuckered out little girls who swam their hearts out.
I enjoy EoS but have never ate BWW, even though we have them here.
Can't wait for Disney Day 1 :goodvibes

I don't know if my family could last 11 hours -- 8 is pushing it.

Hurray for having the trip paid off and being only 45 days away!!! So close!!!

Wow--an 11 hour drive. I have a difficult time with 8! Of course, for us, the longest part of the trip is through the state of South Carolina. I can't imagine all of the driving through the western part of Florida!

I started some responses yesterday, and got sidetracked by things. My oldest DD, Elizabeth, was headed to her Jr/Sr Banquet, and I was being called upon to do her makeup! :)

I know you've mentioned your daughter's plans before, but I'm still slightly amazed at how busy she's going to be! Graduation, then breaking away for a stay at a condo, then straight to Disney....:thumbsup2

And a week after we return, she heads to UA campus for orientation. I know the summer will drag by for her because she is so ready to head to college, but it will fly by for me!

I love travel day! It's so exciting after so many months of planning, changing ADR's, switching resorts etc etc etc:lmao: It's one of my favorite parts of the trip! Your day sounds like a wonderful way to start your vacation:goodvibes

Travel day to Disney is much more exciting than the travel day back home.

Seriously, I applaud all you people who can drive for that long. I just can't do it. When we drive to visit family, it's about 12 hours and we have to stop half way just because I can't take it anymore.

Well, don't get me wrong---I really don't like riding in the car because I get extremely bored, but all in all, it's not a bad trip! :)

Buffalo Wild Wings is one of our standbys, too! I'm with amazingact21 in that I much prefer it to Earl of Sandwich, and for me and DH BWW is a trip staple. In fact, we have a couple here now, and every time I go to one I think "It's just like I'm at Disney World!" ;)

That's so funny! :) Since we have a BWW here where we live, it's just the opposite for me. It doesn't seem like vacation for me if I eat somewhere where I can eat on a week night.

We love Earl of Sandwich  so I think your arrival day plans are perfect!! No sit down ressie so that you can play it by ear and show up when your ready.

I really think EoS is winning out for me. The only thing that has me worried is driving over to DTD on Saturday night-Memorial Day weekend!

Hi Lady! I was behind several updates. I enjoyed reading about your trips. I didn't remember how hot is was during that trip but those pics of all of us tell the story. :lmao:

The older I get, each trip seems to get hotter!

Those dad's are pretty smart sometimes.....;)

There's a LOT of napping that goes on during that 11 hour drive! ;)

Would you believe one of the longest parts for me is in my own state of Alabama. I absolutely hate I65-South from Montgomery down toward Florida. So boring!

woohoo for 45 days!!!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

congrats on paying off your trip and being only 45 days away from your trip!

Thanks everyone for celebrating with me! :)

Can't wait to see that ticker say "1 month 1 week", then "1 month", next "1 week" and finally "1 day"!!!! Whoo hoo!!!:cool1:

Day 1---Sunday, May 27

Hopefully we will be awake and moving by 7 a.m. I hope to leave the hotel no later than 7:45. (However, anyone who has read my previous TR’s know that we are not too good when it comes to making it out the door early. :p I’ll blame it on my two teenaged daughters!) The Courtyard does not have a complimentary breakfast (but, hey, we used reward points, so it didn’t cost us anything), so we’ll probably go through a fast-food drive-thru. I believe there is a McDonalds nearby.

Since the hotel we’re spending Saturday night at is only about ten minutes away from Disney, I hope to get to the Polynesian by 8:15 a.m.

The plan is to get the luggage out and stored in bell services, and then check in. I’m sure our room won’t be ready, but that’s ok. We just need our park tickets!

As soon as we get that taken care of, we will drive over to Animal Kingdom.

IMGP1129.jpg

The park hours for the day are 9-7. We will probably not make rope drop, but when have we ever? ;)

Once in AK, the plan is to go to Kilimanjaro Safari. If the stand-by line is not too crazy already, we will ride then. If it is, we will take a fastpass for later. Either before or after KS, depending on whether we stand-by or FP, we will walk the Pangani Trail. The best part for me is at the end when you get to see the gorillas!

Afterwards, I hope to catch the first FOTLK show that day.

IMG_0407.jpg

Of course, we will be riding Expedition Everest!

IMG_1106.jpg

This is one of our favorites! We will probably need to use fastpasses, but the five of us are ok riding single rider as well.

Lunch will be counter service that day. The kids will probably want Pizzafari, but DH and I would prefer Flame Tree.

Here is our “Must Do” list for AK:

1. Kilimanjaro Safari
2. Expedition Everest (multiple times!)
3. FOTLK
4. Finding Nemo Show. (I’m known to tear up a little during this one. It will be even more meaningful on this trip, since Elizabeth will be leaving home for college two months after this trip.)
5. ITTBAB---Love this! AND, I love the fact that my big ‘ole kids are still spooked by the cockroaches at the end! :thumbsup2
6. Dinosaur---scares me to death, but so fun
7. Pangani Trail

If we have time, these are things we’d like to do (We’ve done them all before on previous trips):

1. Primeval Whirl
2. Mickey’s Jammin’ Jungle Parade
3. Flights of Wonder show
4. Kali River Rapids---We haven’t ridden this since 2003. DH got SO wet, he had to go in a nearby restroom, take off his clothes, and wring them out!

Animal Kingdom is scheduled to close that night at 7 p.m. We’ll leave then, or earlier if we’ve seen and done everything we want to see and do!

The plan is to drive back to the Polynesian. Dinner will be quick service, probably at Captain Cooks in the Poly. Afterwards I will do some unpacking and the kids may swim. I’m hoping to sit on the beach that night and watch the 10 o’clock “Wishes”. Sounds like a perfect ending to a first day! :goodvibes

Ok, your first day just looks perfect!

Animal Kingdom is my "favoritest" (DS's word) park! I love everything about it!

And to end the evening with Wishes on the Poly beach? Yep! Great ending to a first day!
