May Special Event

I will be traveling to WDW the first week of May...hoping it's not too hot! Just to share some info regarding that week that people may not be aware of, it that the McDonald's Corp. Worldwide Owners & Operators will be at WDW that week and will be having an Invitation only party at the MK on 05/04, for which the MK will close early. How early, I am not suire, but I believe around 7pm or so. I am very excited to attend this party which I heard it an absolute blast!

Damn... That's my birthday and we had booked the California Grill in order to hopefully see Wishes. Magic Kingdom is closed at 7pm the next 2 nights for Grad Nights too. Not to worry I will just have to replan a couple of things.

We were there the 1st week of May in 2004 & 2005 and it was never "too hot". You should be ok.

I thought it would be odd for MK to close 3 nights in a row at 7:00 for special events (other guests might get a bit mad) so I checked the disneyworld.com calendar. Since this should be an event that Disney is already aware of, like the grad parties, I thought the early closing would be shown in the calendar...it isn't. The calendar says MK will be open 9am to 10pm that day. If they are closing early, I hope Disney changes the calendar soon...we'll be there that week, too, and I am a compulsive planner!

That is also currently on the WDW site a planned Spectro night. I hope what the OP is saying in not true, as we are leaving the next AM and I want to see spectro one last time.

I went at the end of April in 2004 and there were 3 nights in a row where MK closed early, Thursday for McDonalds and then Friday & Saturday for Grad Night. So it's possible.

I thought McD's and Disney was splitting but it seem like they are turning it up with cross promotions.Maybe it was just an exclusive thing going away.

You can get in by acquiring tickets thru a McDonald's employee who is in a
position to get the tickets, there is a fee however, and my understanding its approx $100 pp. This event takes place every other year when the owners & operators of the McDonalds all around the world come to WDW. I will let you know more details when I know them!

Many major corporations have events at WDW throughout the year. Orlando is one of the few cities with enough hotel rooms and convention centers to host thousands of employees.

A few years back, I was working for a major pharmaceutical company, and we were coming out with a new pediatric drug. My company rented out Tomorrowland for us! It was amazing...food and drinks (yes, REAL drinks) everywhere and no lines! At the end of the evening, we were all escorted to Main St. (the rest of the park had closed early this evening) where we watched a fireworks show with 3-D glasses. When the fireworks fizzled down, all we saw was our company's logo.

I am sure McDonald's will have the same type of thing.

we're going to be at WDW that week. that DAY just happens to be my son's 8th birthday. i guess we'll be skipping MK that night! i wonder just how the crowds at the mod resorts will be because of it...

Sorry, but I was right on about the date, I reconfirmed it today and it is indeed 05/04. What I don't know (and I indicated in my original post) is what time the park closes. Perhaps everyone will still be able to enjoy their prior plans!

MissSixty, i thought that you posted on another thread that the convention was moved on 5/04 to Universal. has this changed??

Yes it has been moved to Universal for 05/04. Most arrive for the conference on 04/27, conference being held at the convention center. They lodge offsite, Universal hotels and AKL, CR and YC.
